My sister was welcomed to Eridge House after her stroke, which greatly affected her eyesight and with a difficulty for words, immediately on her discharge from hospital. She was extremely allergic to some basic food but Eridge House fully provided her tasty meals.
My sister who had lived independently
(now 87) now found living in a single room (with ensuite) distressing and frustrating. While the caring staff treated her with love, care, respect and dignity, she was unable to use the amenities provided. She developed a strong fixation on the temperature and content of the air in her room - which the patient staff allowed for. Despite her failing strength over her last few months she continued to receive the same care and support to the end.

I dreaded choosing a care home for Mum in case I got it wrong and she wasn't happy. Two years on, I still feel so relieved and grateful that she went to Eridge House because she is well looked after by kind and caring staff and I know I can always trust them to do that. They also observe her health
carefully and are quick to call the GP if necessary. Our family (and dog) visit frequently and are always made welcome too. If you ask me to sum up Eridge House in a single word I would say, "homely" which for Mum and me, says something very important.

The staff go out of their way to make my mum happy and content. They chat to her and make her laugh. Even difficult subjects ie end of life package are sorted with dignity and care. In fact, she wishes her ashes to be buried at the house under a rose bush. She tells me that this is her 'happy' time
of life.

The care provided is excellent. The care home has a warm, friendly atmosphere. The staff are very caring and none are agency staff. I feel very confident in placing my wife here for respite care. Very highly recommended.

I found my nan to always be happy, well dressed, always clean and very well cared for.
All of nan's needs were met and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. She had diabetes, which the staff dealt with very well and dietary needs met.

The care provided for our mother was exemplary throughout her stay. The home was well maintained, friendly, responsive and entirely appropriate for her age and needs. Staff were seen to go the extra mile to care for her as an individual and she responded very well indeed from the start. When she
became unwell, they adjusted their care immediately and continually and especially throughout her final days. They knew when it was appropriate to call in extra assistance but did not over-react to crises as they occurred. They demonstrated exemplary individual care and managed to get the best responses available from our mother at all stages.

From our first meeting the staff, especially the manager have been so reassuring and helpful not only to my mother in law but in supporting us the family. Settling in at first was difficult but my mother in law was helped in every way to make her feel at home and is now part of a very caring home.
We are always welcomed and nothing is too much trouble and we are even included in afternoon tea and cakes when we visit. Eridge House has taken a lot of the pressure off when having to deal with a very stressful situation and I cannot thank them enough.

My mother was very resistant to even trying a Care home. Eventually, in poor general health and after illness, she agreed to a short stay. After 3 days in Eridge she changed her mind completely. The initial fears were dispelled because of the comfort, meals, new friends and enjoyment that she never
realised she was missing. It was important to me that it became her choice and decision to move into Eridge rather than feeling she was being abandoned. But dementia then set in and now, after two strokes, she needs a total care regime. Eridge adjusted their support and care progressively without fuss. Now she needs help feeding and drinking and absolutely everything else. I visit frequently, often daily and she is always clean and contented. She is checked frequently being unable to operate the call bell. She still responds to animals and Eridge make sure that such therapy visitors to the home always go along to her room. Nothing is too much trouble and I rate the staff as the very best.

My mother whilst at Eridge House was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The home allowed her to stay as they said it was her home. They were so supportive of my mum and also ourselves as her relatives. Nothing was too much trouble for them and the last two days she got excellent care and supported us
while we sat by her bedside, I thought that good Samaritan's no longer existed but they certainly do. Thank you to all the team. My rating: above average.

Heidi

Heidi Haddow

Job Title: Proprietor

Joined: 1988

Heidi has a wealth of experience in the health and social care sector, including working as a manager of a care home prior to becoming the proprietor of Eridge House.


In Heidi's words... I have had the privilege of owning Eridge House since 1988. I have lived in Bexhill for most of my life and for ten years I held the post as a trustee for two local charities which I found most rewarding. One of my biggest achievements is seeing the development of Eridge House from registration of fourteen in 1988 to that of forty-three older people today. Embracing the changing ways in which we work, and the diverse and skilled team led by our Directors and Managers.


Laura

Laura Witham

Job Title: Director

Joined: 2018

Laura is responsible for managing the management team and working closely with Heidi to oversee the running of Eridge House as a business, alongside Nicole.


In Laura's words... My first ever job was at Eridge House as a teenager. I went on to become a Care Assistant here, obtained my NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care, and after a few years away I returned as manager in 2018 until 2022 alongside Nicole. I thoroughly enjoyed my role here as manager and am thrilled to remain working at Eridge House, now in the role of Director. I have achieved my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management in Health & Social Care and have experience working in both a care home setting and as a domiciliary care provider. Working at Eridge House has always felt special. People often comment on the homely and friendly feel and that is something the entire team are dedicated to providing for all residents and their loved ones.


Nicole

Nicole Witham

Job Title: Director

Nicole is responsible for managing the management team and working closely with Heidi to oversee the running of Eridge House as a business, alongside Laura.


In Nicole's words... When I was offered the job of Supper Assistant at the age of 14 at Eridge House I never imagined that I would become a Director here alongside my sister, Laura. After travelling and acquiring various work experience, I was delighted to return to Eridge House, first in the role of Accounts Manager, to then go on to become the Registered Manager, and now a Director. The friendly atmosphere makes Eridge an enjoyable place to work alongside our dynamic team. My role requires commitment, dedication, and diversity and this is incredibly rewarding. I have obtained my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management in Health & Social Care.


Shelley

Shelley Fuller

Job Title: Manager

Joined: 2020

Shelley is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day running of Eridge House, alongside Rhia.


In Shelley's words... Eridge House has always been in my heart from a young age. One of my dreams was that when the time was right, I wanted to return to Eridge following in my Mum's footsteps. I became Assistant Manager here in September 2020, before later becoming one of the managers in the summer of 2022. I feel privileged to have a role that isn't just a job, it's like an extension of my family. I feel honoured to be part of a team that shares the same passion, values, and commitment to care as I do. I am currently studying towards my Level 5 in Leadership & Management in Health & Social Care.


Rhia

Rhia Laloo

Job Title: Manager

Joined: 2020

Rhia is responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day running of Eridge House, alongside Shelley.


In Rhia's words... I started working at Eridge House during the first COVID-19 lockdown. I had every intention of staying on board as bank staff and returning to my old job, however when I was offered the role of Assistant Manager I couldn't say no, I loved the homely feel and knew I would be happy here with such a good team around me and lovely residents. I am currently enjoying working towards my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management in Health & Social Care and can't wait to apply this to my role as manager.


Marie

Marie Earle

Job Title: Assistant Manager

Joined: 2019

Marie assists Shelley and Rhia with managing the home and provides support to our Care Assistants as part of her job role.


In Marie's words... I joined the Eridge House team in 2019 as a Senior Care Assistant and am thrilled to have progressed to the role of Assistant Manager, with the support of an amazing management team. I have worked in care for over 15 years and have gained my Level 3 NVQ in Health & Social Care and am currently working towards my NVQ Level 5 in Leadership & Management in Health & Social Care.
