My mum spent two years at Cedarwood House Care Home and lived with complicated insulin-dependent diabetes and Alzheimer's. The carers were very professional, knowledgeable, friendly and showed how much they loved Mum by the way they cared for her individual needs; they really do treat the residents
like family. I spent a lot of time at the home visiting Mum so really got to know the staff and residents well. The home was always extremely clean and fresh on every visit. Having home-cooked meals was important as Mum often needed adjustments in her diet and they always accommodated. The overall personal care of your loved one is of utmost importance when finding a forever home for them. Mum was always clean, well dressed and looking her best, which the staff knew was important to her even if she wasn’t aware herself sometimes. Sadly we lost our mum recently to Alzheimer's. For the love, care, compassion and dignity they showed both me and Mum, I will be forever grateful. Would highly recommend Cedarwood House!

This was Mum's first stay at a care home and although she was suffering from dementia and cancer, she was happy to stay here, as it is rural and she was able to access the garden which was very important to her, which was also the reason we were happy for her to stay. She also met old friends there.
The staff were friendly and treated her like family and nothing was too much effort.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone having to find that special place for their loved ones

My nan stayed at Cedarwood after surgery for cancer. She was living with vascular dementia, she loved spending time in the beautiful garden with friends she had made there. The staff are amazing at Cedarwood, they care as if the residents are their own family member. The home always smells amazingly
clean. Highly recommended. Thank you to all the lovely staff.

We are really happy with the care my sister receives. Cedarwood is very caring and the staff are very friendly and understanding with the people in Cedarwood. It is also very clean and comfortable and the meals are very good.
I am very pleased with the treatment my sister receives.

The staff are wodnerful and the care my husband receives is excellent.
The sitting room and dining room are too small with not always enough space.
The car parking facilities are very poor and need attention - resurfacing with more parking space.

My mother is at the happiest I have seen her in many years. She knows she is safe, well looked after and very lucky to be at Cedarwood House. When I visited last week she was laughing and very happy, she was having a good day in warm friendly surroundings with her "friends". I never need to worry about
her now as I am confident that her wellbeing and comfort comes 1st at Cedarwood House.

I am always made to feel welcome. The staff are always on hand to answer any queries you may have. The home is always clean and smells fresh. The residents are all treated with care and compassion. My mum has been there two years now and is very happy always says it's very nice here I'd come again.
I'm kept to date with her medical needs at all times. It's a lovely, bright and welcoming place.

My mum has lived at Cedarwood House for over two years now and we have never regretted our decision to move her there. The staff are approachable, caring, professional and patient. Mum is treated with respect and never patronised. It's her home now and that's how it feels whenever we visit.

Cedarwood House is welcoming, friendly, clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and caring towards the residents. Regular activities are enjoyed by the residents and some pets have recently been introduced as part of the family. My dad is very happy at Cedarwood. I would certainly recommend this care
provider to friends and family.

My mother has been at the home for over five years. My mother is now in bed all of the time. When dressed, all her clothes match. She is kept very clean and tidy. All the staff are helpful, easy to talk to and approachable at all times. The home is very clean and smells fresh. My mother cannot eat solids
but her meals are prepared to look like a plated meal. I am informed when she is unwell and able to see the doctor or medics at their visits.
It is a real home from home with a caring atmosphere. 10/10

Cedarwood staff are caring, competent and lovely people. The home provides comfort, privacy, good care and good food individually tailored to each guest. Staff and management are always available to offer advice, information and a 'listening ear' at all times.

My father-in-law has Alzheimer's, the staff have an excellent understanding of the condition. He is treated with respect and I feel that they care about him. He is always clean and shaved and well presented, this means so much to us. Whenever you enter the care home it always smells nice and clean and
I've visited at all different times and the standard is the same. As a family we feel that he couldn't be in a nicer place, this is important because the last thing we wanted to do was to have placed him in a care home but it turned out to be the right place for him and we know he's safe and well cared for and happy.

My father is 101 years old and recently moved into Cedar Wood House. Prior to the move, he lived with my wife and me for 18 months during which time he became self-imposed bedridden. Since the move, with staff encouragement, he is now getting up and walking with a frame. The ambience of the home is
light and airy, the staff are always cheerful and helpful. It is a pleasure to visit my father.

We visited a friend, weekly, over a period of 2 years and always found the home welcoming. It was always clean with no unpleasant smell. All the staff are friendly, greet you and offer hospitality. There was always someone available to address queries, if any, concerning my friend (We were her main
visitors). It is a very happy place and a lot of love is shown to each client and no difficulty is too much for the staff. They are patient and so very caring and polite with everyone. Staff were involved in a variety of activities with the clients and a musician goes in with a guitar and as many as are able joined in with the old songs. At times clients have been encouraged to join in a cooking activity, help in planting up pots and various times of year are celebrated. There are occasional outings, a summer fete, Christmas party and other specials. Birthdays are celebrated. Everyone seems to give over and above all they are asked.

Cedarwood House has made putting my father in law into a home relaxing, and given us peace of mind. The Manager has gone out of her way to help us, and when my father in law arrived she was there to greet us, My father in law has settled well and this is due to the lovely and caring staff they have
there, the rooms are beautiful he says how lovely everyone is to him. He's enjoying the food and its all spotlessly clean. I would have no hesitation in recommending this home to other people, it is a small home and this makes it much more personal, the staff know us as a family now and its only been a week. Fantastic Place, lovely and caring.

In the short time that Dad has been in Cedarwood we haven't seen or heard anything that would cause us to be concerned about his care. He is always clean and so are the other residents, everyone looks well fed and cared for. The staff are always positive and pleasant and there is a welcoming and upbeat
atmosphere in the home. We have not noticed any unpleasant odours and any queries about the care have been well answered by the staff. The staff always seem to be in control of any situations without being oppressive in their responses. One or two areas do need a decorative refresh.

Samantha

Samantha Higgins

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2020

Samantha started working as a night carer at our sister home, Derwent Residential Home, in 2020. An opportunity for a deputy manager position became available at Cedarwood House in 2022; having worked within the care profession for over seven years, Samantha decided to apply with the support of her then-manager.


She was successful; she transferred to Cedarwood in April 2022, continuing to push herself and progress her career.


While working at Cedarwood, an opportunity entirely out of her comfort zone became available, and she took the plunge and applied for the Home Manager position in February 2023; having proved herself in her role as deputy manager, the opportunity to progress her career further was given to her.


Since then, Samantha has shown great dedication to the home, the residents and her team and has proven to be a fantastic manager. When asked what she loves about her work, Samantha said
"Every day, I come to work with a huge passion for caring and ensuring all our residents are looked after with the utmost respect; each day, I strive to ensure our dedicated care team delivers person-centred care to all living at Cedarwood. Every day, a difference is made by our unique, dedicated care team and our wonderful residents.
