Day Care can be the first step for a person who cannot be fully independent or just needs company / to take part in activities or support with some areas of care. The choice is endless!

St Margaret's can provide times and days to suit the individual from just a lunch to a full day. Clients choose their own package. Liaison with GP's and outside agencies can be supported if needed. It gives reassurance and security to clients and peace of mind for families.

Respite Care available in times of extra care needs , discharge from hospital or a break for family.

Assessment is comprehensive to ensure the level of support meets need, individual choice. Respite packages follow exactly the same principles as permanent.
A wonderful way for people to decide whether Residential Care is their choice.

St Margaret's believe that a care home should be the next best option when being at home becomes difficult.

To feel at home is the most important and priceless priority for service users .

To achieve this assessment includes individual choice of independence, privacy, physical and psychological , social and spiritual needs.

The aim is to meet the long-term needs of each individual as they progress with dignity and respect.

Palliative and end-of-life-care are met with the support and involvement for families an important and integral part.

My mother has been in the care home for the past seven years. She settled quickly due to the care staff. The building is old with character, and she loved her room and the activities provided. The family have been happy with her being in St Margaret's.

My mum was a resident at St Margaret's for over eight years, and my aunt for five years. The carers and manager really know their residents and manage their individual "foibles" superbly, often injecting humour to diffuse anxiety. My aunt's health and mobility improved beyond expectation while she was
there. Residents are encouraged to mix and socialise with lots of activities on offer, but their wishes are respected at all times. Pre-Covid, there were open events for families too, which helped everyone get to know each other better. It would be nice if that could happen again.
The food is excellent, varied and freshly cooked. St Margaret's management of Covid was exemplary, and despite not being able to visit during the full lockdown, I had every confidence that Mum was being well looked after.
The end of Mum's life was managed sensitively and compassionately, and I was very grateful she could stay there for end-of-life care. Thank you all for the love and care you gave my mum.

A first experience for both of us. This was a two-week respite for me (wife) after an eighteen-month period of caring for my husband. It was a refreshing break for me. My husband was feeling overwhelmed initially about being in care. He was made to feel very welcome and cared for well. Initially, a
room on the third floor was a bit daunting but managed well. Towards the end of the two-week slot, he was beginning to involve himself more with the life of the care home.

Thank you, Patricia, welcome back whenever you need respite. He was on the 1st floor!

My Dad has been in St Margaret's now for about 18 months. The staff have always treated him with respect and encouraged him to be as independent as he possibly can. He is happy and settled; he is well looked after and has thrived in his environment. He enjoys the many activities there are on offer at
St Margaret's and loves to sit outside in the garden when the warmer days allow him to. All of the team are friendly and happy; they are accommodating to him and the family, especially when we wish to visit, and they always do their absolute best for my dad. He loves the varied dining menu there is on offer to him daily. The home is clean and tidy and offers a very calm environment for all residents.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.058)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.058) out of 10 for St Margaret's is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.458 for St Margaret's is calculated as follows: ( (37 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.458

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Margaret's is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 22 registered maximum number of service users is 4.4, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
