Sunnyhill is a superb care home. My father has been there a few months now and the kind and caring staff are always supporting us... very friendly people and fantastic with the residents. Food is delicious. Overall I can fully recommend this lovely care home.

Sunnyhill Care Home is managed by an incredibly competent and empathetic manager who isn’t afraid to get stuck in and be out of her office. She knows all the residents by heart and liaises with family members as much as they request. The home has a full permanent staff which speaks for itself in this
day. So residents get constant repetitive care. Occasionally agency staff are required, they are constantly monitored to ensure a high level of care including ensuring any agency staff have the right training in those situations (this I have heard personally). There is nearly always something going on in the lounge for residents and nearly always music playing. The standard of cleanliness is high with two staff dedicated to housekeeping. Every visit everywhere smells of clean or disinfectant. This is excellent in my opinion as it means anything that is soiled is never left and always thoroughly cleaned. My dad is happy at Sunnyhill. I can relax knowing he is safe and cared for.

From the day my dad became a resident at Sunnyhill he became one of their family, as did my sister, her family and I. The care and attention my dad receives goes above and beyond. When observing the staff interacting with my dad and other residents for that matter you can tell they matter, they are
cared for. They're not just a patient number or a bedroom number, they are a whole person. Dad's needs and wishes are met without question. I myself as a daughter also feel listened to. As I don't live in the UK I email and text regularly and always receive updates promptly. When I call, the staff are so helpful, to the point where they'll take the phone up to my dad and put me on speaker so we can chat and Dad will always know I'm thinking of him. Living some distance away, even when I do visit the staff treat me like they see me every day. Dad has developed a great bond with some of the staff and he doesn't do that lightly, so if he's happy we're happy.

Mum has been in Sunnyhill since January 2020. As she has dementia, her behaviour had been challenging for her 'live in' carer and she needed 24/7 care. Sunnyhill has been really good with Mum and she is happy and settled. Even in the trying times of COVID-19, Sunnyhill did an early lockdown and this
kept staff and residents safe. We have kept in touch by phone and the staff have reported any changes quickly.

What can I say other than this is the home I would like to end up in when I am old.
I am only 73! My 96-year-old mother says it is home from home.
" I can do as I like," she said. The food is nourishing. The home is clean and all the staff are lovely and caring.

I cannot praise Sunnyhill Care Home enough. Since the first day my brother was taken into their care, he is so well cared for and looked after. This is so comforting for the family as we are not local, we are many miles away and my brother's dementia is so well understood and he is very happy in his
new home. Thank you to you all. This means so much to my family.

As a family we were really unsure about placing our Mum into care, even though our Dad was doing a fantastic job as her carer - the time had come. Having viewed many homes, Sunnyhill stood head and shoulders above its contemporaries. All that we were promised has materialised and our Mum has settled
quickly and is very happy, secure and content.

The moment my brother and I walked into Sunnyhill we knew this was the place for our mum. The warm welcome and cosy atmosphere gives Sunnyhill a lovely, homely feel. The whole place is kept beautifully clean and smells lovely and fresh. You could tell by the way the staff were talking to the residents
that Mum would always have someone to help with her needs.
Mum has been at Sunnyhill for five weeks now and has settled in really well. She is so happy and content and is eating far better than when she was living on her own. The staff arrange various activities for the residents but there is no pressure if they don't want to join in. I know Mum really enjoys the word games.
Many thanks to the management and staff at Sunnyhill for looking after our Mum so well and for the kind welcome they give us when we visit.

Since my husband moved her nearly a month ago I have been very happy with the care he is receiving at Sunnyhill. The staff are very caring and supportive and do everything to make things comfortable and pleasant. Being comparatively small, there is a family atmosphere and staff are always smiling and
welcoming to family and friends who visit. I am always offered a cup of tea or coffee, whichever time of day I visit. Nothing is too much trouble.

Thank you all for the care and attention you gave to my dear friend. I was so pleased she found such a good home where she was valued. Whenever I telephoned the staff answered and told me where my friend was, how she was doing and what she had been doing. I was always able to speak with my friend whenever
I wanted.
Thank you all.

My Mum has been at Sunnyhill for 12 months now. She has settled in very well due to the care, love and kindness of all the staff. I find the staff very helpful and welcoming. They are all very friendly and happy and make visiting lovely. I now have peace of mind knowing that my Mum is safe and well
looked after. If there are any problems or concerns I am contacted straight away. From the very first time I came to Sunnyhill, I felt the warmth and love. Thank you to everybody.

The care and support staff work very hard to ensure the resident's needs are met. We visit very often and are always made to feel very welcome, nothing is too much trouble.
Although, there is room for improvement in some areas. Placing your loved one in somebody else's care can be very distressing
but our family have the confidence in the staff at Sunnyhill Care Home and we would not hesitate to recommend them.

My wife has been a resident at Sunnyhill for just over three years and from the very outset, I have been pleased with the high level of care she has received. In addition, both management and staff have supported me throughout this emotional journey and they continue to do so. I would strongly recommend
Sunnyhill Care Home.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.971)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.971) out of 10 for Sunnyhill Residential Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.971 for Sunnyhill Residential Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (34 Excellents x 5) + (1 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 35 Ratings = 4.971

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Sunnyhill Residential Care Home is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 20 registered maximum number of service users is 4. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 4 = 0.75

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
