Whitebriars offers a warm and homely atmosphere that is evident from the moment the door opened. The decor is light and cheerful and the staff (from the management to the domestic helpers) are friendly and kind. The carers definitely "go the extra mile" to ensure that our loved ones are treated with
dignity, kindness, and affection. All in all first class.

The most stand-out thing about Whitebriars is the care and dignity that the residents are treated with. Not being close to Bexhill, this takes all the worry of having an elderly relative with some health issues away, knowing that they are being cared for properly. The activities and mini-bus trips make
all the difference to the well-being of Mum. You are always given a warm welcome when you visit and the phone is always pleasantly answered.

Thank you for your kind words. We are pleased to say we are now back to getting out on mini bus tours for our residents to enjoy.

Whitebriars demonstrate a level of care and empathy that's refreshing to see in these uncertain times. They have kept the residents safe and comfortable - my mother is very happy there. Pre-booked visits for the named visitors are well-organised and feel very Covid safe. After the face-to-face visit,
I was able to look through the lounge window and see the amazing tea and cake selection laid on for their VE day celebration - everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

My stepfather moved into Whitebriars in September 2020 after an initial period, a big change to him. He settled well, unfortunately, due to Covid, we cannot go into the home to visit, but we do window visits where I call the home and we speak by phone and see each other through the window; this has
worked well. The home always has different activities going on, something to suit everyone and most importantly, staff are efficient and friendly.

Fantastic care home. The staff there are all lovely and the care is just exceptional. Every time I've visited, all of the residents seem to be very happy and content. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Whitebriars, it really is a home from home.

I myself and the family are more than pleased with the care and support my husband gets from the staff and all. They really go out of their way and there is never any problem ringing or face-timing which is a great help while we can't visit because of covid. I would recommend Whitebriars to anyone.

The staff and management team at Whitebriars are extremely friendly and helpful. They made sure my grandad settled in straight away and helped put my mind at ease. They often take residents on trips/activities and always maintain a high level of professionalism. The home has a really positive atmosphere
and is in a great location. I highly recommend Whitebriars to those in a similar situation to me and my family.

I have admiration for the carers, they go above and beyond. Sadly I can't extend this gratitude to the management or owners if you have cause to complain. My father made this his home and we will be grateful for that at least.

Reply from Lynda Dewhurst, Director at Whitebriars

Thank you for your feedback. Coast Care has an open and transparent culture and always responds to complaints in a full and comprehensive way. Thank you for your kind words regarding our care team, we are very proud of all of them who indeed go above and beyond.

Choosing Whitebriars was a huge decision. Having lost both my father and my aunt to dementia I knew what I was looking for for my mother-in-law.
- Caring staff who connected well with residents and wanted to know them and who they were
- frequent and meaningful activities
- homely atmosphere
-
not large
- nice location
On visiting Whitebriars, we had a very good feeling about it and have not been in any way disappointed 12 months on. There are minibus trips 2 or 3 times a week, depending on the season, pub lunches, visits to castles, the fish farm, cream teas, walks out to the seafront for ice creams as well as 1 to 1 time. My mother-in-law recently went out to make a Christmas wreath with a member of staff. It now graces the front door and she couldn't be more proud. Craft and cooking activities take place in house as well, a variety of entertainers and animals also visit on a regular basis. She has company, a sense of home, things to do and people around her who genuinely care about her when we can't be there. The food is really good too.

Having moved my mother from another care home to Whitebriars a year ago, we are delighted with the progress she has made under the care of the manager and his team. There is a genuinely homely feel and excellent caring staff. My mother gets to participate in a wide range of activities, various crafts,
cooking (her first-ever pizza) and trips out on the minibus. She has settled very well and made many friends. It's close to the seafront and she loves going for walks along the there when we visit.

My husband first went to the care home on a daily basis. (Day Centre.)
Eventually, his dementia progressed so I could no longer cope with him at home and he went into the care home full-time.
It was a great help that he knew the home and staff and they knew him. He loves all the activities.

My uncle came to Whitebriars from another care home following a broken hip and a change in his mobility, since coming to the home he has thrived. He goes on all the bus trips, twice every week and also plays chess or draughts regularly with the manager and other staff. His needs have been managed very
well and I have never had any cause for concern over the care he receives or his safety at the home. He is very happy at the home and I am really happy that he happened to go to Whitebriars.

The care home has a very homely feel to it. It is secure. I was concerned about my mother settling into the home, as this was a completely new way of life for her. Due to the kindness, friendliness and experience of all staff and managers, my mother has settled into her new environment very well, and
when asked, she states that for most of the time she is happy and content.

My mother has been at Whitebriars for almost five years. At first she found the loss of independence difficult. However, the staff were very caring and supportive of the whole family in the transition period and her health and well being improved immediately. I cannot praise the staff enough. They go
out of their way to ensure residents keep active by providing activities to stimulate and there are regular trips on the mini bus.
Residents are kept clean and tidy and the staff seem to understand every individual's needs, likes and dislikes!
The family is kept informed of any issues and we are always welcomed when we visit. Whitebriars has a homely feel to it.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.674)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.674) out of 10 for Whitebriars is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.874 for Whitebriars is calculated as follows: ( (83 Excellents x 5) + (12 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.874

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Whitebriars is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 26 registered maximum number of service users is 5.2, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
