My father was a resident at Arlington House for 3 years. During his time as a resident, he thrived in the loving and caring environment that was provided by the staff at Arlington House.
My father's needs were met to the highest standard and nothing was too much trouble.
My father required a ground
floor bedroom due to his condition and mobility, he was offered a light and airy room that overlooked the garden.
The food was a highlight for my father, the home-cooked meals were varied, tasty and appealing. Homemade desserts and cakes were always available.
Management were always available when needed, they were helpful and informative, offering help and advice when required.
I can’t thank Arlington House management and staff enough for all they did to make my father's stay with them the happiest that it could possibly be.
Everyone at the home worked tirelessly especially during Covid and the trying times that it presented. The home is outstanding in my opinion, thank you.

My brother-in-law became ill and unresponsive on a Saturday. We received a telephone call from the manager to inform us. She explained that he was poorly and that a duty Dr had been called out to see assess him. The call to the Dr was made very quickly and he was prescribed antibiotics for a chest
infection. The care he received over the next 48 hours was exemplary. He was being turned every hour to prevent sores.
We received another call from the manager Saturday evening to reassure us and again a call on Sunday.
Due to the quick action taken by the staff, what could have been a fatal infection is being cleared and he is recovering.
We are so very grateful for all the kindness and care by everyone at Arlington House. Thank you.

Fantastic management run this care home, before the COVID19 pandemic I thought this, but even more so now. They have put the resident care and protection first. The residents are treated with respect and dignity at all times and it is more like a family than a clinical feeling which has helped our family
feel better about being in a care home. I highly recommend Arlington House.

Mum had been in Arlington House a year when we went into the first lockdown. She was extremely happy in the home and told me every time I had visited how good they were to her. They locked down early to keep the residents safe and we were grateful for that even though it was hard not to see her. We
did get to visit in 2020, but it was hard for her to hear me, 3 foot down a table and wearing a mask, so I write her letters telling her all the family is doing and the manager goes and reads them to her. The staff have been wonderful having to cope with extreme difficulties in the early days of Covid, and the owner got us a pod, so we could see her before Christmas. Presents and little treats have still found their way into her because they are so well organised and take them early so they can be sanitised. She enjoys her food now and eats a meal. Can't praise the staff and owners enough. Excellent care.

Current Review Score: 8.4 (8.428)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.4 (8.428) out of 10 for Arlington House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 5.000 for Arlington House is calculated as follows: ( (24 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.428 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Arlington House is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 33 registered maximum number of service users is 6.6. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 6.6 = 0.303

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Having experienced first hand how Dementia and old age impacted my own father and those close to him I wanted to do something to help others in the same position. With the help and support of my wife, Roxana we set up what was to become a successful and well respected domiciliary care company providing care for our customers in their own homes.

After several years and much thought we took over Arlington House in 2018 as we felt it would suit our more hands-on approach and enable us to be more involved, accessible and supportive of our residents and staff. What has been particularly rewarding is the sense of extended family, not just with our residents and staff but with our residents loved ones as well. We're all in this together!

Since March 2019 and with the support of a dedicated team of staff and our amazing Care Manager Chilie the home has been totally transformed, slowly but surely. We have instilled our ethos of patience, care, empathy and love. To us, “the resident always comes first”. We now have a happy well supported home where our residents know that they are genuinely cared about and that their best interests are at the forefront of everything we do.

We genuinely love what we do, it's far from easy but most things worthwhile rarely are.
