Mum stayed almost a month for respite care during which time the staff cared for her with amazing kindness and made her feel safe and well cared for, nothing was too much trouble, from the cleaners, kitchen staff, carers and management. As a family we were made very welcome. I can highly recommend Place
Farm House.

Place Farm House was the perfect place for my mum convalescence. The kindness exceptional care and comfort was amazing. All facilities were spotless and communal areas were well maintained. There was always a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Mum commented on how wonderful the food was at all times
and how accommodating the chef was to her dietary need. A huge thank you to your dedicated team at place farm house I couldn't have wished for any more for mum.

I want to tell you that I feel the residential care home is marvellous. The staff are wonderful. They can't do enough for you. The food is wonderful, with a choice of meals. There is a good choice of activities.

My mother is in Place Farm House for short term respite care due to a fall she had over Christmas.
We have found the experience to be first class. The staff are amazing, so caring , supportive, helpful and attentive. The facilities are excellent.
It is a beautiful residential home.
She is very happy
here and is recovering nicely.

I cannot recommend Place Farm enough. All of the staff genuinely care for all the residents, as well as treating the residents with respect, dignity and lots of humour. The home puts on a range of activities, including word games, bingo, Play Your Cards Right, trips to the local coffee shop, church,
garden centre, and trip to the local drama show. They encourage residents if they want to be included in activities but are not pushy.
Cannot recommend this home enough for your relatives/friends enough.

We had a big decision in August 2024 when my dad felt he couldn't look after himself any longer. It was a hard transition in the first couple of weeks, all the staff have been lovely, so patient and caring and always up for a bit of banter (which Dad loves). He's settled in and is now starting to join
in activities and trips, make friends and leads a more fulfilling life. Importantly, he has his own room when he needs a bit of space and quiet time to himself.
The food has been amazing and every effort has been made to encourage Dad to eat to improve his health.
There has always been someone I can have a chat with when needed about Dad's health.
I'm so pleased we found Place Farm and the wonderful, caring, calm and fun staff.
A big thank you to everyone.

I have had connections with Place Farm House for over ten years, firstly, care for my beloved aunty and now my precious mum. I have never had any anxiety or concerns that the care was, is, ever less than 100%. The staff always engage with any worries or questions I have with kindness and respect. Leaving
one's most dear family members is the hardest decision and I will be forever thankful to Place Farm for making this transition.

Place Farm House, what a wonderful place for people to recuperate from an illness or long-term care. The staff are very friendly and supportive. Management excellent and provided guidance and support when needed. Even when undergoing renovation work the home was spotlessly clean. Great place to stay.

All the staff at Place Farm House are wonderful and go about their work with diligence, patience and humour. They’re all so calm and nothing is too much trouble. My dad was there for five years and always referred to it as his 'home'. He enjoyed his food and a chat and I’m pleased to say that at Place
Farm House he thoroughly enjoyed the home-cooked food and staff have the time and inclination for a good old conversation. He did not want for anything in terms of the facilities, he was comfortable and entertained, either through the home run activities/excursions (varied and fun), the TV in his room, reading on his tablet, and chats with staff and other residents. His heart's desire was to end his days at Place Farm House and following a few days of Palliative care this came to be. The staff were just amazing during this time with input and medical care from a local hospice. We are so very grateful. He was in his bed, in his room, in his home.

Just to say what a very pleasant time I had here and how wonderful the staff were. I must have been a pain at times, demanding this and that. I'd recommend anyone to have a stay here. I know that my brother has been very happy at Place Farm House Care Home for near on sixteen years.
Staff are really nice and they look after all the residents very well.
Visiting your relative is no problem to staff. Parking in the street is normally quite easy. A village coffee shop is in easy reach
of the home.

Karen Reid

I initially joined Place Farm as the Deputy Manager in July 2017 and then became the Registered Manager in September 2019. I worked previously as a Deputy Manager in a Dementia Nursing Home in Brighton for four years. I have worked in care since I left school and it has always been my passion to help and care for others. I have obtained my level 5 in Leadership Management & Health and Social care to allow me to progress into management.

Place Farm House is such a welcoming, homely place for our lovely residents and their families. The staff commitment to give outstanding care is portrayed from the wonderful feedback the home receives from professionals and relatives alike. Having worked alongside Andy the owner, I have developed Place Farm's service to ensure it provides intimate care to our residents and we have the best staff who are supported and enjoy their work. Care work is a vocation and we believe strongly in providing a considerate and fun environment for them to develop as people.


Longer-term, I am really enthused about improving Place Farm House with the aim to be an Outstanding rated care home one day.

Mandy Porter

Joined: 2001

Mandy lives and breathes Place Farm having worked with us since 2001. Mandy was made Welfare Champion in 2017 and then in 2020 she stepped up to become our senior carer. This is a wide and varied role which supports the care staff on the floor, but also supporting Charlie and Karen in management work such as care plans and medication. Mandy enjoys seeing the residents are happy and comfortable in their lives at Place Farm and looks after the presentation of the bedrooms to ensure they nice and homely for the residents.


Mandy says: "We are committed to this as a team to ensure Place Farm House remains one of the best residential Homes in Sussex and dare I say, in the UK. It's been tough times in the care sector with COVID but our staff are second to none and when it comes to Place Farm, it is how a residential home should be."

We are a family run care home and took Place Farm on in September 2016. I was the Registered Manager between 2016 and 2019 and this allowed me to intimately understand the running of the home and develop and strengthen how we provide care to our residents and recruit the best staff to enable this.


I believe that a quality home and service comes from leading by example and setting the highest standards throughout the home to give our staff pride in their daily work life and working at Place Farm House. I am a very hands-on owner, living nearby in Brighton and I want Place Farm to be the best home in Brighton so it not only does justice to the name, but also, justice to the outstanding quality care I think we already provide.


My previous work background has been in care, particularly having grown up in my teenage years at our other home, Abbey lodge in Kent. I qualified as a nurse in 2007 and have had experience in various hospital care settings including elderly and post-surgical care. I have gained healthcare management experience in NHS primary care and commercial experience in the Pharmaceutical industry and latterly in business development and marketing for BMI Healthcare, a national private hospital provider. This experience has been consolidated by completing a Business Management HND at Brighton Business School in 2015.


I am now the manager at our Worthing home (The Shelley) and I continue to support Place Farm and Karen on a daily and weekly basis to ensure it remains as good as it can be
