My mother went to Place Farm House for two weeks, she had a lovely time.
The staff are very friendly and gave my mum a lot of care and attention. It is more like one big family that you feel, like home from home.

A meeting was arranged to discuss and plan ongoing care for a resident. Family members and friends were present. We were welcomed to an annex room and offered tea/coffee etc. The outcome of the meeting was satisfactory.
Generally, when visiting our friend we are made welcome. The care given is excellent
and the home is clean and tidy. Food is tailored to meet our friend's vegetarian preferences. We are completely happy with the care provided to our friend.

My mum had 3 weeks respite care after spending 2 weeks in hospital after an emergency operation.
Place Farm House couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful from the first enquiry through the entire stay. Nothing was too much trouble and all the staff were so kind. My mum is also gluten-free, and
they made such delicious meals - all homemade. Can't recommend this care home enough.

I have found Place Farm House to be a home from home for my mum. The staff and management are exceptional. From the moment you arrive, you can't help but notice the laughter, respect, kindness and helpfulness that radiate from the staff. Another blessing for me (living abroad) was the relative gateway
app (electronic internet care diary) It enabled me to stay connected with mum's care and needs and everyday life.

Place Farm House made my mother feel happy and secure. The staff are a real team, led by an excellent manager. They showed such love and compassion for my mother and went out of their way to make sure she was happy and reassured, even when she was confused and in pain from leg ulcers.

My 95 year old mum has been cared for at Place Farm House for the last year. We've been very impressed by the kindness and the quality of personal care from all the staff. The atmosphere is relaxed and the organisation is good. The food is good and it's a nice place to visit. Our thanks go to the manager

My mother has stayed at Place Farm House as a resident for respite and also for day care. She has been so happy and content that I have put her name down for longer-term care. The place in extremely well organised and managed. All the staff are friendly and welcoming. They go out of their way to meet
the individual needs of the residents. Place Far House has a culture of respect and happiness. I couldn't thank them enough.

Dad went to Place Farm initially for respite in December and stayed until March when he had to go to the hospital,


Having lived in the same house for 60 years we were a little apprehensive as to how Dad would react to the change of environment.


We didn't need to worry as all the team at Place

Farm were absolutely fantastic, as Dad had the care and attention required and the communication with us was superb.


I cannot recommend Place Farm highly enough.

As a family, we felt great comfort in knowing our mum was being cared for so well. The staff at Place Farm Housetreated Mum with dignity and kindness during her stay. The care she received was excellent and all of her needs were met. Nothing was too much trouble and during our visits we were made to
feel at home. Mum clearly enjoyed her stay at Place Farm House. We couldn't have asked for more. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Karen Reid

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 2017

I initially joined Place Farm as the Deputy Manager in July 2017 and then became the Registered Manager in September 2019. I worked previously as a Deputy Manager in a Dementia Nursing Home in Brighton for four years. I have worked in care since I left school and it has always been my passion to help and care for others. I have obtained my level 5 in Leadership Management & Health and Social care to allow me to progress into management.

Place Farm House is such a welcoming, homely place for our lovely residents and their families. The staff commitment to give outstanding care is portrayed from the wonderful feedback the home receives from professionals and relatives alike. Having worked alongside Andy the owner, I have developed Place Farm's service to ensure it provides intimate care to our residents and we have the best staff who are supported and enjoy their work. Care work is a vocation and we believe strongly in providing a considerate and fun environment for them to develop as people.


Longer-term, I am really enthused about improving Place Farm House with the aim to be an Outstanding rated care home one day.


Mandy

Mandy Porter

Job Title: Senior Carer

Joined: 2001

Mandy lives and breathes Place Farm having worked with us since 2001. Mandy was made Welfare Champion in 2017 and then in 2020 she stepped up to become our senior carer. This is a wide and varied role which supports the care staff on the floor, but also supporting Charlie and Karen in management work such as care plans and medication. Mandy enjoys seeing the residents are happy and comfortable in their lives at Place Farm and looks after the presentation of the bedrooms to ensure they nice and homely for the residents.


Mandy says: "We are committed to this as a team to ensure Place Farm House remains one of the best residential Homes in Sussex and dare I say, in the UK. It's been tough times in the care sector with COVID but our staff are second to none and when it comes to Place Farm, it is how a residential home should be."

Andrew Bown

Job Title: Owner

Joined: 2016

We are a family run care home and took Place Farm on in September 2016. I was the Registered Manager between 2016 and 2019 and this allowed me to intimately understand the running of the home and develop and strengthen how we provide care to our residents and recruit the best staff to enable this.


I believe that a quality home and service comes from leading by example and setting the highest standards throughout the home to give our staff pride in their daily work life and working at Place Farm House. I am a very hands-on owner, living nearby in Brighton and I want Place Farm to be the best home in Brighton so it not only does justice to the name, but also, justice to the outstanding quality care I think we already provide.


My previous work background has been in care, particularly having grown up in my teenage years at our other home, Abbey lodge in Kent. I qualified as a nurse in 2007 and have had experience in various hospital care settings including elderly and post-surgical care. I have gained healthcare management experience in NHS primary care and commercial experience in the Pharmaceutical industry and latterly in business development and marketing for BMI Healthcare, a national private hospital provider. This experience has been consolidated by completing a Business Management HND at Brighton Business School in 2015.


I am now the manager at our Worthing home (The Shelley) and I continue to support Place Farm and Karen on a daily and weekly basis to ensure it remains as good as it can be
