My mother moved into Wilbury six weeks ago, aged 92. She has been on her own with daily carers since our father died 20months previously becoming increasingly isolated and withdrawn. Within days at Wilbury she was transformed. The staff are wonderfully caring, good humoured and sensitive to everybody's
individual needs. They made mum feel at home among friends but did not overwhelm her. Now they encourage her to take part in activities but do not push. Her room is small but homely, she loves the food and the company. Her room looks out over a lovely garden which I am sure she'll enjoy in the spring. Mum has mild dementia and the staff are kind and caring and tolerant. They couldn't be better and they have supported the family throughout and made the transition bearable. We can't thank them enough.

I was so lucky to find Wilbury when looking for a place for my father. The home is a real home, very personable and friendly with lovely and efficient, caring staff. I couldn't wish for a better place.

I have been a resident in Wilbury for two years. The standard of care is excellent and I am very happy here. My room is very comfortable and I have a friendly relationship with my neighbour.

My mother has grown happier and healthier during the time she has been at Wilbury. The staff are fantastic and create a warm, caring and fun-loving home. There is not a fast turnover of staff at Wilbury - most of the people who looked after my mother when she arrived 2 years ago are still there and
there is a real 'family' feel.
My mother goes out for a short walk independently every morning and, in the afternoons, she enjoys the activities on offer or chats to other residents either in the lounge or the beautiful garden.
This year's Christmas party was lovely - delicious food, a singer, magician and a visit from Father Christmas. This is a very happy home. I hope I am lucky enough to find an equally caring and homely place to be when I am in need of one.

My mother has thrived since being in the care of the staff at the Wilbury. She has always been fiercely independent and had managed well at home but when things began to go awry her health and happiness deteriorated and she was ready to be cared for on a 24 hour basis. Since living at the Wilbury she
has thrived, enjoys her meals and has regained her weight and is bright and interested in life once again. She no longer just stays in her room, as she was inclined to do at first, but takes meals in the dining room, joined in the recent party and loves going in the garden or taking trips out independently.
We have our Mum back! The manager and carers are lovely and makes us welcome every visit. I and my siblings are very happy our mother is in such caring hands.

This is a very happy place - the staff are extremely caring and many have been working here for a long time. The Manager creates a positive and lively atmosphere that is full of humour. There are lots of activities and people enjoy each others company. The food is prepared every day on site and is a
very high standard. The building is an old Edwardian/Victorian which gives it a feel of 'home' but does have the disadvantage of some difficulties with access - stairs at the front door (though there is a gate and side entrance), heavy doors and residents are reliant on the lift.
My father has lived here for just over a year - he is being very well looked after both physically and emotionally. His health has stabilized and this has enabled him maintain his independence, getting out every day for a short walk down to the shop or to watch the cricket at Sussex Cricket ground nearby!

What has impressed us most about the Wilbury is the high quality of staff and their awareness of their residents and their needs. Whilst the building itself is rather rickety but homely, the standard of staffing has been quite impressive, which for our family has been more important. You are welcome
to visit at any time, and always offered an excellent cup of tea!

The Wilbury is a first class care home, from its facilities to the staff, the most genuinely caring and some of the most supportive people I have had the pleasure of leaving my Dad in the care of. I felt completely at ease and so did he.
They took superb care of him for the year he was there, unfortunately
he had to be transferred to a nursing home because he started to deteriorate and pleaded with me not to move him.
I would recommend the Wilbury to anyone. I just hope its still around when I'm older and need caring for, I wouldn't think twice about being one of their residents.

Wilbury Care Home is a lovely large house which has a family atmosphere. The room sizes are generous and kept in good order. I have found all the staff to be highly trained as well as compassionate. Everything possible is done to make people feel cared for and safe. The staff are always happy to discuss
any concerns and to offer their professional advice. The food is also very good and there are regular events enabling the residents and their relations and friends to get together.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.184)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.184) out of 10 for Wilbury Care Home Ltd is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.484 for Wilbury Care Home Ltd is calculated as follows: ( (67 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (6 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 93 Ratings = 4.484

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Wilbury Care Home Ltd is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 19 registered maximum number of service users is 3.8, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
