As a leading care village in West Sussex, the whole team at Barlavington Manor work hard each day to create an environment where everybody feels at home, while getting the five star care they deserve. Their personalised care plans ensure that each resident receives the care and support they need, as well as getting the respect and dignity they are entitled to.

They seek to empower residents to live as independently as possible and make active choices in their own care, believing that care should be about enhancing their residents’ lives, not just prolonging them.

With gorgeous landscaped gardens, beehives, kitchen garden, seasonal food menus and an imaginative and engaging activities schedule, it is clear to see why they have such a good reputation in the local community.

Transitioning a family member into elderly care is often difficult. However, Barlavington Manor has brought reassurance to the family and comfort to our aunt. The facilities are beautiful, the staff offer a nurturing disposition, and the degree of dignity provided is heartening. The activities offered
provide communal spirit, which is especially important during these difficult months. Barlavington Manor is a remarkable care facility and experience for all involved.

My mother is at Barlavington Manor and I genuinely couldn't be happier. I am so glad I came across them, they are leaps ahead of other care homes local to us. The staff are fantastic and the facilities are amazing - highly recommend.

I have visited many care homes and Barlavington Manor really impressed me the most. The staff are very caring and attentive and offer a wide range of activities and services to support residents. In the short time that my mother has lived there, she has been well looked after and has really come out
of her shell. It has been great for her to be able to get involved with her passion of gardening. Rooms are clean and fresh, food appetising, and relatives are welcomed and made to feel part of the community that has been created there.

The staff and the management are just so kind and go the extra mile. We have never felt that we were compromising by placing my aunt here and the most important thing is that she doesn't feel that way either. I can't tell you how much of a relief it is to know that she's in such good hands.

The main and pervasive characteristic of living at Barlavington Manor is belonging to a happy and helpful community. This is readily maintained by the positive attitude of the staff who, without exception, remain concerned, consistent and patient under all circumstances. The lovely rural location with
delightful garden views of the South Downs contribute to the relaxing features of the home. Every effort is made to enable residents to regard the Manor as their new home by attending to their individual needs and preferences whether it be diet, accommodation and/or social activities and at the same time keeping distractions to a minimum.

Kitchen staff aware of my diet needs and are very thoughtful. Also, the laundry staff seems efficient with my requirements. Staff was thoughtful about my needs after return from the hospital. Completely innocent of the virus being fully tested in the hospital and kept safe in my room. Still managed
to have a laugh.

Barlavington Manor has very high standards in all areas. The environment is very pleasant for the residents to relax and dine in and the grounds around the house are also kept very well. I note the care to be excellent and the residents are treated as individuals with care and dignity.

My sister has now been in the care of Barlavington for two years. For the past year in the main house. I have nothing but praise for the staff and the care they give. The rooms are all immaculately clean, the atmosphere cheerful and the staff always helpful and prepared to listen to concerns and iron
out any problems. There is also a great range of activities, some of which I know my sister enjoys. It is a huge relief to all our family to know that she is safe and so well looked after. Thank you.

I have been extremely impressed by the way my dear friend has been looked after during this especially difficult time. All the staff have been amazing and my friend gets the best care possible. The food and activities are fantastic and I'm considering moving in myself because the landscaped gardens
are so beautiful to walk around.

Excellent home - highly recommended.
Suggestions:
Meal portions a bit too big. Home could save money by serving smaller portions. Most old people have smaller appetites.
Sometimes lights on unnecessarily in comment areas. Conserve energy and save money.

My mother spent 7 years at Barlavington Manor and passed away in August, aged 98. She made some lasting friendships and her catch-phrase was 'remember I have been very happy here'. What more could I want for my dearly-loved, elderly mother but for her to be happy in her final years? Barlavington Manor
has lived up to its good reputation in every respect: it is well-run and efficient whilst having a loving, caring and friendly atmosphere. Although visually impaired, my mother joined in activities of her choice and often sat in the dining room where she could chat to visitors passing through, discuss topics of interest with other residents and join in socially as much as she could. Her care plan was adapted as her needs changed and I was kept well informed. I felt completely confident that Barlavington would offer the very best 'end of life' care for my mother and when the time came, the staff was hugely supportive and compassionate. My mother was treated with great tenderness and dignity.

The team at Barlavington Manor understand that it's often a difficult choice for a family member to go into residential care, we have found them to be sensitive and professional towards the residents they look after, as well as helping family to adjust to the change. At Barlavington Manor we have found
a happy, friendly environment and a positive atmosphere within the home. There are lots of opportunities for the residents to socialise and there are many entertainments and activities available should they wish to join in. All my mother's needs are met with dignity and there is a high regard for making the residents comfortable, and to feel part of the community. Also, the food is really good and the home is spotlessly clean! But the most important elements for us in this very well run home are the kindness and compassion that the staff show toward my mother, and for this, the whole family are very grateful.
