Elmcroft Care Home is a 60-bedroom facility that was opened in 2008 in order to specialise in a wide range of care needs, including for people with long and short-term care needs, and people with dementia or physical disabilities.

The aim of a highly-trained team of staff is to maintain a homely and hygienic environment, that residents can enjoy a varied day-to-day lifestyle in, while adhering to the highest standards of modern care regulations.

Personal freedoms are encouraged within the service and Elmcroft is located close to both Brighton and Worthing, which allows for many popular outings throughout the year.

I find the house quiet, warm and friendly like a friendly hotel. I can come and go as I please. The staff are nice, friendly and helpful. The gardens are neat and pleasant. Food is good and varied. In view of my circumstances a pleasant place to be.

My mother was cared for at New Elmcroft in the last few months of her life. She was a nursing sister during her working life and was very familiar with recognising high standards of care. During the last months of her life, she regularly expressed that the care she was receiving at New Elmcroft was
wonderful. Mum was bed-bound in the last weeks of her life and required frequent attention. Every member of staff went the extra mile to make her feel comfortable and to help my elderly father during his regular visits.


In the early part of her stay when visiting was restricted one member of staff would facetime on her personal mobile to enable my mother and father to have contact. The staff regularly kept me updated by phone in the last weeks of her life and were flexible with my visits. One key observation is that the staff at New Elmcroft always seemed happy to be part of a team - great credit to the manager who is clearly a good leader and was always sympathetic to our needs as a family.

Elmcroft has been wonderful looking after my father.
After witnessing their great service with my late father-in-law it was much easier putting my father into Elmcroft knowing the standard of care he would receive.
They have not let us down.

My cousin was transferred to New Elmcroft from another care home on the 2nd of August 2021. When she arrived, she was quite frail and poorly and after a few days at New Elmcroft became worse and didn't eat or drink even though the wonderful staff encouraged her. She then went downhill rapidly and died
on the 19th of August 2021. The staff were so good to her and she was always kept clean and dry, etc. Relatives were kept informed daily of her treatment and were wonderful to us as well.

Came to a Garden Party which had to be held indoors as the weather was terrible. It was nicely arranged, our table was reserved for us. Entertainment was great and the staff so friendly and mixed with us all, they made it a very enjoyable and memorable afternoon for residents, family and friends. Well

I came to Elmcroft after a hospital stay. Carers are largely young; their care was second to none. They would always go the extra mile. I have nothing but praise for them. They combined care with compassion - it was never just a job!

It was our aunt's 100th Birthday today and the staff at New Elmcroft went above and beyond with making the day special for her. Due to covid restrictions, celebrations were limited, however, Elmcroft staff still organised a fantastic celebration for her. An entertainer in the garden, cake, singing and
went above and beyond to accommodate our gifts, balloons, cards and even a card from the Queen. They decorated her room lovely and everything was just perfect.
We would like to thank the manager one member of staff, in particular, as they were fantastic at communicating with us prior to the day and accommodated everything we asked. It was lovely also as the chairman of Shaw Trust Skyped our aunt as due to covid restrictions he couldn’t personally visit.
On a day to day basis, the manager and the team have been great and are always so caring and professional. Thank you for making the day special for her during these strange times.

My sister-in-law was transferred to Elmcroft from a stroke unit. The stroke had left her with the loss of some memory and unable to find correct words. Communication with her was not easy. Although 86 she had been extremely independent and resented any reliance on others. This meant that she could be
rather difficult on occasions. The staff were always kind to her and very supportive. I think she was most fortunate to be transferred to New Elmcroft for her initial rehabilitation. Our thanks to you all.

The home is always clean and staff always friendly, although at the moment we are visiting in the garden due to Covid. We are always welcomed and the visit is done very safely and social measures kept. My nan seems happy here and always looks nice and clean and dignity kept. Thanks to all the staff

During such a hard time with COVID-19, the staff put on an amazing celebration for my Grandmothers 107th birthday. There was a link to the party via face time and they shared the pictures with us straight away. It's such a hard time not to be able to visit and we have had to rely on these amazing staff

Walking into New Elmcroft, almost feels like walking into Mum's own home, as it is so welcoming and feels good. Mum is being looked after very well and wonderful staff help her to Skype the family, which is wonderful throughout this coronavirus crisis. She always looks well and is neatly dressed.

Light and bright modern accommodation. All staff friendly and welcoming and very respectful that this is the residents' home. I am very happy with the care given to my mum. They all understand her and her good and sometimes very difficult ways. Activities personnel are always on hand for a chat and
provide a very good service, including everybody around their individual needs.

My mum has severe dementia and has lived at Elmcroft since 2017. As my brother and I got to know the staff, we began to appreciate how much they care and go the extra mile for the residents. I'm very glad mum ended up at this care home and can't fault the staff at all. Our mum is extremely happy and
we are happy that she is safe and properly cared for.

My mother is a long-term resident at New Elmcroft Care Home. She has always been well cared for and very much loved by the team of carers. During the Covid-19 epidemic, they have been extremely conscientious in keeping the home clean, safe and arranging contact via Skype. The staff are always very welcoming.

I enjoy the challenges associated with being part of such a large, lovely diverse family. I am constantly learning and being challenged to be the best that I can be.

Hello and welcome to Elmcroft! My name is Estelle and I am the deputy manager here. I started working in healthcare whilst completing my Psychology master’s degree at Sussex University back in 1995. At that time I was a support worker in a residential dementia unit. My passion for assisting people living with dementia grew from there. Over time I progressed to team Leader, and then resource manager within Brighton and Hove Council. In 2008, before Elmcroft was even opened, I successfully interviewed for a team leader role. I was one of the very first recruits and I have worked in Elmcroft since day one and what a brilliant journey it has been! I worked as a team leader until 2015 when I became the deputy manager.


I derive such joy from making each day special for the people under my care. I love that each day is different and brings new exciting opportunities. The prospect of meeting new people, and getting to know them makes every day special. I have enjoyed supporting staff growth and development. I am passionate about training and feel privileged as I am the named dementia trainer in Elmcroft. My background in psychology enables me to support families faced with the difficult decision of leaving their loved ones in a care home. It is also beneficial to staff in my capacity as a mental health first aider in Elmcroft.

Job Title: Service Administrator

I joined Elmcroft in 2002 as a support worker. I moved to New Elmcroft once the new build was completed, 16 years ago this year. In 2010 I became one of the service administrators.


My job is very varied dealing with many aspects regarding staff, residents and relatives as well as outside professionals.


I am always happy to help with anything that I can, taking part in many events over the years, all hopefully to help maintain a happy and healthy environment, especially for our residents.
