Glebe House is a 40 bedded home located in the scenic village of Southbourne in West Sussex. It’s location couldn’t be more perfect with a number of shops nearby and great transport links. Glebe is an integral part of the local community and is well known and respected. The home has a large staff team of all ages with a wealth of experience, there are a number of long serving local staff working within the home.

Glebe House offers thirty beds to the elderly and frail who can no longer live independently at home and ten beds to those who have been in hospital and need to rebuild their confidence before returning to live in their home again.

The home offers a calm and caring ambiance and the team always ensure that each and every resident feels at home.

The home's chefs provide daily home cooked meals for residents to enjoy in communal dining areas or in the comfort of their own room. Hot and cold drinks are provided throughout the day to ensure that residents are always well-hydrated. The beautiful gardens wrap fully around the home which ensures that each window has a garden view.

Activities and social interactions play a large part of life here at Glebe, each day they offer a range of activities such as singers, entertainers, crafts and games just to name a few and friendships are always encouraged. The home has many wonderful community links such as local schools, churches and social groups.

My Father-in-law spent his last few months at Glebe house. And I can honestly say they were the happiest he had had in a long time. He had nothing but praise for the staff and made some great friends with the other residents nothing is too much trouble for the staff at this care home.

My husband has been in Glebe House for approximately two years. They do look after him quite well, his main issue is the food - I am known for being a very good cook (I did B&B, foreign students, so when they say I am a very good cook it makes you happy). I walk down for a visit or take the bus. He
can come home for lunch etc also get on a local bus and visit the local pub, so we are all doing our best. they do put on little shows and a lovely Christmas so well done Glebe House.

Cannot fault the home. Staff are amazing, the care is outstanding. From management, to food, to cleanliness, everything is amazing. Mum has been here a few times and loves it.

Always made to feel welcome, care and kindness is shown at all times. Always friendly and helpful and respect is shown. The staff are all so nice and greet with a hello and take their time to listen and explain things that are happening. Lovely to hear the other residents laughing and happy. Lovely

Very pleased with the care that my mother received. She felt very safe and well looked after by all the staff that cared for her. Had a very good experience, which helped her recovery after a short stay in hospital.

This is the third time my husband has been to Glebe House for respite, and each time, I know he is happy to go. He enjoys the location as well as well as the welcome he always feels. I know he is always pleased to see the staff who look after him and his assistance dog so well. Knowing this, I am able
to relax properly when he is there, as I know he is in safe hands.
Myself and our daughter visited him during his stay and were made very welcome and felt part of the community whilst we were there.
As usual, he has come home and is already planning his next stay.

My mother was admitted to Glebe House for six weeks of respite care in June 2023. All of the staff have been helpful and efficient for the duration of the stay, they have made my mother, myself and our family extremely welcome. My mother has made good progress during the stay and is now far more mobile.

My mum attended Glebe House after being in hospital for five weeks. The care given from the moment she arrived was amazing, nothing was too much trouble. My mum stayed here to recuperate for three weeks following a fall and a stay in hospital. She was very well looked after and was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. The staff were very kind and professional, and the building very pleasant and clean. Overall, I felt that my mum received the best
of care, for which I am very grateful.

Glebe House is absolutely amazing. My mother in law had been in hospital for 5 months on a rehabilitation ward and sent her home when she wasn’t ready and unable to do things for herself. We then got a place at Glebe House for 6 weeks. After only 2 weeks at Glebe House the transformation in my mother
in law is amazing, she is able to stand and walk with minimal assistance and is happy there. This is due to the hard work and dedication from the care team and management going above and beyond to help her.

My father was sent to Glebe House Care Home on a discharge to assess (D2A). So we didn't actually choose this care home personally and it was our first encounter of a care home.
I cannot recommend Glebe House highly enough. All staff are very friendly, helpful and caring. The property is fresh, light
and airy.
They reassure me that my father would be well cared for and he was above and beyond.
Sadly, there are no beds for him to stay long-term as he would love to. Big thank you to all.

I'm a volunteer, was recommended. Never have I worked in such a lovely home. Staff are lovely and welcoming, very well looked after, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The manager is very supportive. Bless to be on their team.

Exemplary kind and compassionate care provided to Mum by all the team at Glebe House. She loved her time here; felt safe, comfortable and most of all completely at home. We could not have wished for a better environment in which to spend her last year before passing away peacefully.

Mum passed away in Glebe House yesterday, after a year of loving care. I cannot thank the staff enough for the quality of their care and support. Mum was extremely happy in Glebe House and considered it her home. She was very fond of all the staff, as they appeared to be of her. I live abroad and it
was such a comfort to know she was happy and settled. I was kept regularly informed of her mental and physical state and the carers and admin staff were always cheerful and welcoming. Thank you so very much.

Irene

Irene Pudduck

Job Title: Service Manager

Joined: 2021

Irene started her career in health and social care as a care worker in a residential home at the age of 16. Staying and progressing for a further 22.5 years. In this time, Irene had a variety of job roles such as head of care, home trainer, NVQ assessor, team leader and deputy manager.


Irene says "I have supported many people from all walks of life and have a passion for providing excellent person-centred care. I aim to ensure that Glebe House runs in line with the CQC standards and you will always receive the warmest of welcomes here. The staff team at Glebe House are fabulous and we all support one another to ensure that our residents are safe and happy."


Glebe house provides a homely and friendly environment for the residents who choose to live here.
There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the positive difference that we make as a team for the residents.


Irene is super proud of what team Glebe are achieving day in and day out. She loves her role and couldn’t be happier.

Emily Watts

Job Title: Deputy Manager

At the age of 18 Emily decided that she wanted a change in career after a family member suggested she would make a great carer.
The rest they say is history…


Emily has worked in many different settings supporting those with dementia, mental health needs, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, adolescents and the elderly.


Emily says: “I cannot imagine a career with more challenges and I love that no day is the same. My main goal is to ensure that our residents are healthy and happy. It’s so rewarding to see the positive difference that the Glebe House team make every single day. The staff are brilliant and are the core of the home and we all share the same vision and goals.”


With the support of Irene, the manager, we lead the team to ensure that all care provided is to the highest standard possible.


We have had a bumpy ride with the pandemic and have had our fair share of obstacles thrown at us but we always pull through as a team.
Emily will always do all she can to support her team.

Tracy McClure

Job Title: Service Administrator

Joined: 2015

I started at Glebe House in 2015 as a support worker. I then became a team leader and now I am the administrator.


My mum resided at Glebe House when she needed care, after seeing the fantastic care and support given to her I decided that I wanted to be a part of the Glebe House team.


My role as admin gives me the opportunity to support each of the residents and their families first hand.


I am privileged to meet future residents and their families and ensure that all of their needs are met whilst residing with us.


I love being part of such a supportive and dynamic staff team and spending time with each and every resident.

Stephanie Watts

Job Title: Service Administrator

I started my career in Health and Social care back when I was a teenager
I have worked with an entire spectrum of people with differing health needs.


Over the last 11 years working in the care sector, I have gained many skills and achievements, my highest qualification is, Level 5 in Health and Social Care.


In my previous role I was a registered manager at a home for those with mental health needs. I then went on to have a baby girl and decided that I wanted to take a new career path still in the care sector so that I could use the skills and knowledge previously gained to give 100% to my new role.


I joined Glebe House as the second administrator. I enjoy the people I work with and every day is a new challenge, this gives me the opportunity to develop my skills to ensure I am always providing a fantastic service to the people we support and their families.


Josephine

Josephine Hynek

Job Title: Team Leader

Joined: 2013

Started working in the home almost 9 years ago.


I am currently working as a team leader, which I really enjoy.


Working in this role and supporting the residents and the staff team gives me immense job satisfaction.


I know that I have achieved when I can make at least one resident smile every day.


It’s such a rewarding career and team work is paramount to the safe running of my shift.
