Glebe House is a 40 bedded home located in the scenic village of Southbourne in West Sussex. It’s location couldn’t be more perfect with a number of shops nearby and great transport links. Glebe is an integral part of the local community and is well known and respected. The home has a large staff team of all ages with a wealth of experience, there are a number of long serving local staff working within the home.

Glebe House offers thirty beds to the elderly and frail who can no longer live independently at home and ten beds to those who have been in hospital and need to rebuild their confidence before returning to live in their home again.

The home offers a calm and caring ambiance and the team always ensure that each and every resident feels at home.

The home's chefs provide daily home cooked meals for residents to enjoy in communal dining areas or in the comfort of their own room. Hot and cold drinks are provided throughout the day to ensure that residents are always well-hydrated. The beautiful gardens wrap fully around the home which ensures that each window has a garden view.

Activities and social interactions play a large part of life here at Glebe, each day they offer a range of activities such as singers, entertainers, crafts and games just to name a few and friendships are always encouraged. The home has many wonderful community links such as local schools, churches and social groups.

From the first moment I arrived, everyone was really helpful. They found that I was suffering from acute back pain and set about helping me. The carers were brilliant in the first few weeks, helping me with bathing and dressing but due to their tenacity I ended up on pain patches, which made a huge
difference. I left Glebe House a completely different woman, able to walk freely and stand unaided. I can't thank you enough. I am now at home and coping.

My mother only wanted to come to Glebe House after a bad accident. I would like to thank all your staff, high to lower, for their kindness and help to me also. Living in Spain, it's not easy to leave her but having visited for a week, I am happy. The new decor is tasteful and relaxing. No smells except
good ones!

I arrived here from the hospital on Monday 03 April 2023 and from the very get-go, I have been treated with the utmost respect and great care. The staff are fantastic and especially caring. They take the time to talk to you, answer any questions and if they do not know the answer, they find out. They
keep my sister informed of everything that happens to me as well, which I find most reassuring.

My mum was greeted warmly on arrival and made to feel welcome. Staff came to check what she needed and what her preferences were. As her carer, I was also made very welcome and found the staff very warm and friendly. The care they gave to Mum was impeccable and they were professional and calm, even
during my mum's episodes of challenging behaviour. The layout of the building is superb and beautifully appointed.

I was worried when my Mum had to go into a home but Glebe House and the staff are brilliant, we couldn't wish for a better place for my mum to be.
Everything about Glebe House is great. Loads of love for my mum but also for her family. I can't thank them enough, we will always be in their debt.

My family and I cannot thank Glebe House enough for the wonderful respite care my mother received during her stay. The care home environment is calm and welcoming, light and airy and always clean and tidy. The management and staff have been fantastic - nothing is too much trouble and the lines of communication
are always open. The care team are professional and so kind, often sitting to chat with Mum and always treating her with respect and dignity. They have been very supportive to all of us, arranged any medical care that Mum has needed and given her exemplary care. Mum is very happy at Glebe House and we are incredibly grateful - thank you. Would highly recommend.

My 92-year-old friend is at Glebe House for assessment following a few weeks in hospital before returning to her own home. The building itself is very well decorated and when you enter gives a very good feeling. My friend will only be here for 6 weeks but has already settled in and enjoying being looked
after and making friends with the staff. She is receiving excellent care and the staff are so friendly and obviously enjoy working at this home. My friend is free to walk about in the home and enjoys the activities. I have been to numerous homes in the past visiting elderly friends and Glebe House definitely tops the list.

My dad was at Glebe House for over a year, throughout the pandemic. During his stay, the staff were highly professional, while being very approachable and accommodating for the various care needs my dad required. I always knew my dad was in highly capable hands.
Upon the start of my dad's stay at
Glebe House, the staff were very welcoming and offered support and encouragement in helping with his transition from an apartment. This was of great value to all of the family, many of who live hours away. The staff really went out of their way to help him make his room feel like home and encouraged him to engage with the other residents.
During my dad's time at Glebe House, he was a challenging resident. The team at Glebe House tactfully handled my dad's needs and always maintained excellent communication with myself and my brother. As my dad's health needs became greater the Glebe House team played a critical role in coordinating visits from healthcare professionals.
I highly recommend.

The staff at Glebe House eased all the anxieties and concerns my mother, and we as a family, had about making the big decision around residential care. They were not only knowledgeable and professional but very understanding and caring.
My mother has thrived in the short time she has been at this
excellent care home. Her health has improved beyond recognition - a fact reflected in her weight gain! Her mental well-being has also thrived. The decision to come to Glebe House was a very good one.
All the staff have time for a worthy conversation with my mother as they carry out their duties. She knows them all by name and their latest news. The food is amazing and always a topic of conversation.
The staff have had to make difficult decisions in this time of a pandemic but these are clearly made in the best interests of the residents and a dialogue is always held with family members.
As a family, we are grateful to all those who support our mum at Glebe House to such a high standard.

Irene

Irene Pudduck

Job Title: Service Manager

Joined: 2021

Irene started her career in health and social care as a care worker in a residential home at the age of 16. Staying and progressing for a further 22.5 years. In this time, Irene had a variety of job roles such as head of care, home trainer, NVQ assessor, team leader and deputy manager.


Irene says "I have supported many people from all walks of life and have a passion for providing excellent person-centred care. I aim to ensure that Glebe House runs in line with the CQC standards and you will always receive the warmest of welcomes here. The staff team at Glebe House are fabulous and we all support one another to ensure that our residents are safe and happy."


Glebe house provides a homely and friendly environment for the residents who choose to live here.
There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the positive difference that we make as a team for the residents.


Irene is super proud of what team Glebe are achieving day in and day out. She loves her role and couldn’t be happier.
Irene wholeheartedly thanks her team for what they do, especially throughout these testing times.

Emily Watts

At the age of 18 Emily decided that she wanted a change in career after a family member suggested she would make a great carer.

Emily has worked in many different settings supporting those with dementia, mental health needs, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, adolescents and the elderly.


Emily says: “I cannot imagine a career with more challenges and I love that no day is the same. My main goal is to ensure that our residents are healthy and happy. It’s so rewarding to see the positive difference that the Glebe House team make every single day. The staff are brilliant and are the core of the home and we all share the same vision and goals.”


With the support of Irene, the manager, we lead the team to ensure that all care provided is to the highest standard possible.


We have had a bumpy ride with the pandemic and have had our fair share of obstacles thrown at us but we always pull through as a team.
Emily will always do all she can to support her team.

Tracy McClure

Job Title: Service Administrator

Joined: 2015

I started at Glebe House in 2015 as a support worker. I then became a team leader and now I am the administrator.


My mum resided at Glebe House when she needed care, after seeing the fantastic care and support given to her I decided that I wanted to be a part of the Glebe House team.


My role as admin gives me the opportunity to support each of the residents and their families first hand.


I am privileged to meet future residents and their families and ensure that all of their needs are met whilst residing with us.


I love being part of such a supportive and dynamic staff team and spending time with each and every resident.

Stephanie Watts

Job Title: Service Administrator

I started my career in Health and Social care back when I was a teenager
I have worked with an entire spectrum of people with differing health needs.


Over the last 11 years working in the care sector, I have gained many skills and achievements, my highest qualification is, Level 5 in Health and Social Care.


In my previous role I was a registered manager at a home for those with mental health needs. I then went on to have a baby girl and decided that I wanted to take a new career path still in the care sector so that I could use the skills and knowledge previously gained to give 100% to my new role.


I joined Glebe House as the second administrator. I enjoy the people I work with and every day is a new challenge, this gives me the opportunity to develop my skills to ensure I am always providing a fantastic service to the people we support and their families.


Josephine

Josephine Hynek

Job Title: Team Leader

Joined: 2013

Started working in the home almost 9 years ago.


I am currently working as a team leader, which I really enjoy.


Working in this role and supporting the residents and the staff team gives me immense job satisfaction.


I know that I have achieved when I can make at least one resident smile every day.


It’s such a rewarding career and team work is paramount to the safe running of my shift.
