My mother is extremely well cared for. The staff on the unit are kind, patient and well suited to the role. My mother thoroughly enjoys her meals there and is always clean and well dressed. She loves having her hair styled and cut and looks forward to the hairdresser visits. We are always informed of
any changes or concerns that staff may have and are always welcomed when we visit. Mum is extremely happy there.

My husband of 57 years has resided in Mill River Lodge since November 21. He has later-stage Alzheimer's and subsequently a stroke. The care and help for him and our family have been exceptional. His room, the general environment and his personal care and cleanliness are exceptional. His needs are catered
for, even though he is not able to express himself. We are always kept informed of any change in his situation or any additional meds. Staff are always kind, helpful and caring to him and to us. They are ready to fight his corner when other professionals are required.

Mill River continue to give excellent care to my mum. Throughout the pandemic, they have excelled in keeping the home covid free, which has given me comfort knowing Mum is safe. Staff are always helpful towards Mum and it will be good once we can have face to face visits, although the garden meetings
have helped.

My mother has now been a resident of Mill River for over two years and myself and my family try to see my mother as regularly as we can. My father is there for every visit and either myself or one of my sisters always attend with him.
I can not thank the staff enough or even recommend them more highly
for their patience, love and respect for my mother while she has been at Mill River. In addition, the level of care they have as individuals and also the home overall is excellent. As with all Alzheimer cases, there are ups and downs, even when it isn’t a bad day the staff are still capable of lifting her moral and ensure she engages, often with a smile.
It is a great comfort for myself and my family to know that she is cared for to such a high professional standard and I have no hesitation in recommending Mill River as a wonderful care home.

My mother has been a resident of Mill River Lodge for the past 4 years and through all this time they have supplied superlative personal care to my mother. It may not be the best looking home locally but the care and activities on offer are second to none.
Especially at this time with the COVID pandemic
they have been exceptional. It is a difficult time for anyone but for 4 months now I have been unable to visit my mother but they have sent me videos and anytime I ring it doesn't matter which member of the care team from my mother's wing answers they re all fully aware of how she is and what she has had done to her on a particular day.
Every member of staff from cleaner to chefs and admin to care staff are always exceptional with their support so much so I now regard some of them as my extended family as they look after my mother as well if not better than I could.

I am very pleased with the excellent care that my mother has received at Mill River Lodge during lockdown this spring. The staff have gone to extra lengths to keep her safe from infection and to continue with video contact for our family throughout. The new manager and some carers went to a lot of trouble
to make her birthday special at this difficult time. My mother is very happy and I am delighted.

My wife has been a resident at Mill River Lodge for approximately two years end during that time her care has been adequate, however, recently we have noticed a general improvement in care standards. I find it difficult to pinpoint any particular area of improvement but overall the atmosphere offers
bright and friendlier with the residents receiving good professional care and attention and for the most part, they are happy. Currently, I could not wish for my wife to be better cared for.

Mum is very happy at Mill River Lodge. The staff are wonderful; they are all very professional and extremely caring. The whole team at the home is friendly and welcoming. They work hard to provide a very happy atmosphere for residents and their families. Mum has a nice comfortable room, and she enjoys
spending time in the day room where there is always something going on and lovely staff who engage with her. She always looks well cared for when we see her, thoughtfully dressed with painted nails and a weekly hairdo. There are many inventive entertainments to keep the residents occupied, and Mum was made to feel very special on her 91st Birthday with a beautiful cake created by the chef.
Communication with family is great; I often receive phone calls about Mum's welfare, and during the Covid-19 lockdown, we as a family, have been very lucky to talk to Mum and her lovely carers by Whatsapp, which has been reassuring.
I am very happy with the care that Mum and our family receive from Mill River Lodge.

The great entertainment and number of activities they have is so different from other homes. I am so very confident that my wife's every need, including the care and attention

The staff here are wonderful but more permanent staff are required so they get to know the residents. The agency staff really don't know or understand the needs of the residents as each resident has different needs and understanding.

My name is Oluwatosin Omisakin, you can call me Tosin. I am the clinical lead at Mill River Lodge, and I assist the service manager in running the home.


I started my nursing career in 2013 in Nigeria and I have garnered a wealth of experience in adult nursing over the years.


I am very passionate about making a difference in residents’ lives and delivering excellent quality care. This resonates with the values of Shaw Healthcare and made me join in March 2022.


It also encouraged me to get a BSc degree (Nursing Science) from the University of Derby in 2022.


I am involved in leading and supporting the nursing team to achieve exemplary care services for our residents, as well as supporting families on their care journey.
