Oakwood Court care home is one of the most homely and friendly around and they welcome people with open arms, like a big family. Their focus is on brighter living, so every day they bring a ray of sunshine to their residents. Their seven day a week sunny moments club provides a variety of one to one and group activities, based on residents hobbies and interests - there's something for everyone.

Each resident has an allocated key worker and the staff team receive regular training to make sure they provide the best care and support 24 hours a day.

The home has a 5* food hygiene certificate and the in-house catering team create delicious, nutritious home-cooked meals, reflecting residents preferences.

Engaging and involving residents is important and the team welcomes ideas, feedback and suggestions from all residents and their families so their service is continuously improved.

The home is surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. The comfortable modern residential care home is in a lovely setting and the neighbouring Oakwood Flats sheltered scheme make this a welcoming community of older people.

Oakwood Court provides accommodation for 33 residents, made up of 31 single, one double room and one premium suite. Each room enjoys a pleasant outlook and has its own en-suite facilities. Respite facilities can also be provided for those in need of a short break.

Residents enjoy a light and airy communal lounge and dining room. There is a family room and various comfortable seating areas to catch up with loved ones.

The beautiful Beech Hurst Gardens are close by and Haywards Heath town centre is only a short walk or drive away, with a mainline train station and excellent connections to London.

The staff could not be more caring and ensure that my mum is comfortable and well cared for. The food is excellent and the rooms pleasant. The downstairs recreation area is light and lovely to sit in. There are activities available morning and afternoon and these are designed to keep everybody engaged
and motivated.

After looking at other care homes, my husband and I were relieved and extremely pleased to find Oakwood Court. Light, bright, not too vast, therefore easy for residents to get around.
Lovely grounds and patio, so that residents have access to views and light. The staff are wonderful, very accessible
and approachable and deal with any problems quickly and efficiently. The rooms are big and clean.

A warm welcome from friendly, caring staff is always evident. Lots of interaction and entertainment are always provided, stimulating residents with encouragement but respect from loyal caring staff. Food is excellent and Mum always loves her prawn salad, fish and chips and roasts. Everyone is very
kind even in challenging circumstances.

Well run care home where residents are happy. Comfortable rooms, excellent lounge and dining room where the menu is very varied. Staff
are polite and caring. Activities lack on some days but on the whole, they have entertainers come in and they are very good. This is a purpose-built building which
has wide corridors and very good size rooms. Definitely a good place to be if you need help.

Mum has been a resident of Oakwood Court for over 10 years now and is very happy there. When my husband and I moved away from Sussex, we asked Mum if she would like to move nearer to us, but there was no way she was going to leave the comfort of Oakwood Court - even for her daughter! I have no need
to worry about Mum as I know she is in good, safe hands and is happy in her environment.


The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the home is clean, safe and well run.


There are lots of fun, interesting activities both for residents on a daily basis, and larger events throughout the year when family members are encouraged to join in, such as coffee mornings, BBQs, music evenings and various themed parties the staff put on throughout the year.


If there are ever any concerns about Mum's health or any other issues, the staff are always quick to inform me.


Overall we are extremely happy with the care and support we receive from all the staff at Oakwood Court.

My mother has been here since 2013 and she has been well looked after. It is a small home and the staff turn over is low so everyone knows my mother well. The staff are kind and try hard to keep everyone happy, well fed and entertained. Even housekeeping and catering staff will chat and pass the time
with residents and family.
The manager will always try and speak with the relatives regularly and involve them in the residents care. 6-month reviews are offered.
There is open visiting, so this adds to the homely atmosphere. Tea and coffee always available for visitors There are lots of activities; which are well attended by residents and outings occasionally. The place is always warm and is clean and tidy.
Christmas is a special time at Oakwood and the staff organise a party for all family and friends. Also a big Christmas lunch and Boxing day meal for those who do not go out at Christmas time.
My mother feels safe and content in this environment.

My friend for whom I have power of attorney needed to go into residential care. I knew of Oakwood Court and had been told by other people that the standard was high.
We looked at other homes but decided Oakwood Court was the best we had seen, it was also chosen for the locality.
After an initial settling
down period she is now getting used to living there, she likes her room and where it is situated on the whole is happy with the move.
She does find being woken early with her breakfast a bit of a trial but understands there must be a routine, as she has lived alone since her husband died she finds it difficult to join in with the activities and prefers to watch from the sidelines.
The staff have all been kind and caring and I have been impressed with the patience and consideration they have given her.

As my aunt lives some 25 miles away from her nearest family, is now aged 92 and showing the first signs of dementia, it was important that the home we chose for her was one that could be trusted to meet her needs where she felt safe and where the staff were sympathetic and supportive. She has often
expressed to me her contentment with her life at Oakwood Court and from my point of view, I have always been impressed by the friendliness, gentleness and professionalism of the staff and the pleasant surroundings.

My sister and I have been delighted with Oakwood Court. The very caring staff have been great with mum and helped her to settle in. It is obvious that the manager has a great team, they all work together and all seem to enjoy their work. They put on many activities - not just for the residents but their
families too and these have all been very enjoyable. It was a tough decision to place mum in a care setting but the staff have been very supportive to my sister and I.


I would have no hesitation recommending Oakwood Court to others. (Indeed I have recently recommended it to a friend for respite)

I have been extremely impressed by the standard of care and support the staff at Oakwood Court have shown to my mum. They treat everyone with dignity and nothing is too much for them. I feel confident in leaving my mum in their care - they're very observant and quickly identify when my mum needs additional
help. My mum likes being at Oakwood Court - she says this to me often. They have regular entertainment - I've also been Impressed by the resident council - Oakwood responds to all requests and concerns.

My mother-in-law was a resident for just over a year. After the initial uncertainty (lasting less than a week) she settled very well into life at the care home and grew to like and appreciate the great level of care that she received without fail. All the staff always treated her with dignity, respect
and kindness and it really did become her home. After her last hospital stay, she was discharged for end of life care. We thought that we would need to find a nurse home, but Oakwood Court said they were able and pleased for her to return. They said it was her home and they wanted her to spend her last days and weeks at home.

This is a very caring, friendly home. All the staff are excellent, from the top to the bottom. Nothing is too much trouble. There is a choice of hot meals twice a day, with coffee, tea, biscuits, fruit throughout the day. I was even included in the fruit kebabs - one of their initiatives to keep the
residents hydrated. I am very impressed with the range and frequency of activities provided. There is something morning and afternoon. Last week my father was taken to the seaside for fish and chips. The bedrooms are of a very generous size with ensuite bathroom.

Our mother has been living in Oakwood Court for eight months, she is very well cared for there by the staff, both in terms of medical and pastoral care. She is stimulated by the activities they put on, likes her accommodation, enjoys the food and the company and community there. When we visit her, we
are impressed by how well presented and well maintained Oakwood Court is, how friendly the staff are and by the lovely atmosphere. It gives us peace of mind that she is very happy living there, and is so very well looked after by the staff.

I now have a Diploma in General Nursing, and both a Level 3 in Health and Social Care and a Level 5 in Leadership and Management of Care Services. I enjoy my role as care home manager and get satisfaction from helping residents and seeing them happy in our home.


I love my job because it's so rewarding leading a team and supporting our residents to live a bright life and putting them and their families at the heart of everything we do.

My journey in the care field started in 2017, beginning with my BTEC in Nursing which equipped me with a strong foundation for my career. Following comprehensive training in various hospital settings, including emergency, intensive care, and palliative care, I transitioned to roles in care homes. Starting as a support worker and progressing to assistant general manager back in Spain, I discovered genuine fulfilment in this environment.


Since relocating to the UK, I've served as a Senior Carer whilst qualifying as a Biomedical Scientist. What draws me most to working with older people is the profound sense of gratitude they express when receiving care and support. Witnessing their appreciation fuels my passion for this work every day.

I have over 25 years experience in catering and have been a Chef Manager here since 2013. I love food and cooking and I understand the importance of food. My father was Spanish and my upbringing has revolved around family and food.


Mealtimes are one of the most important parts of the day, especially for socialising and residents' wellbeing. There's nothing better than seeing residents tucking into a home cooked, hearty meal and getting good feedback from them, it brings joy to me and makes my job rewarding. I am supported in the kitchen by a Chef and two Kitchen Assistants and spend time with residents listening to their feedback and menu ideas.

I started working at Oakwood Court in April 2022 and coming from mainly an administrative background, this is my first role in a care home. After only being here a short time, I sensed what a warm, friendly, caring home it is. It really does feel like “home from home”. I am the first port of call for all visitors to the home such as relatives, friends, nurses and tradespeople and I keep all the administrative paperwork up to date. But what I enjoy most about my job is interacting with the lovely residents.


I deliver their post and help read letters from family and friends if they are unable to do so themselves. Seeing the joy on their faces when I am reading to them is what I find so rewarding.

"I take care of the day-to-day maintenance of the building making sure all the checks have been done, including fire and gas safety, water and electrical testing. My role includes more basic tasks such as unblocking shower wells, checking light bulbs and cleaning the bins - just as important! There is generally a lot of cleaning, tidying, and ensuring everything is in safe working order. I will also decorate rooms when they become vacant and keep the rest of the home looking as good as it can be.


I very much enjoy spending time talking to residents when I’m working in their rooms and supporting the care team in any way I can. Sometimes I have the opportunity to join in activities with residents such as gardening or singing, which is a great privilege.


I may have my week planned, but often my work can be reactive, you never really know what you’re going to walk into in the morning, one of the many reasons I love working here."
