My friend's hearing aid never seems to be working, I know Covid-19 has been difficult for everyone. It would also be really helpful to have subtitles turned on on the TV.

Reply from Maryjade Marku, Registered Care Home Manager at Parkside Lodge

Thank you very much for your review. As discussed recently, we have an appointment for the hearing aids which will be in September. We will ensure the subtitles are on. Thank you.

We feel that our Aunt is cared for which is such a relief to us. Auntie has a lovely room and we know she has settled and enjoying the wonderful food, and care from your team of extremely kind and courteous staff. It is good to have an opportunity to say thank you.

Friendly staff caring for residents who seem happy. Overall a clean home with good atmosphere. Visitors are also looked after by staff and are welcome to join in any events such as barbecues. They have been careful during the Covid emergency.

Parkside Lodge was the first home to be offered to us by the hospital. When I first walked in I was impressed. I worked for social services and am familiar with care homes. I had not made an appointment but was shown around by the then manager, and questions were answered. The homely atmosphere and
the friendliness of the staff are second to none. When we have queries regarding my mother-in-law they are dealt with and if any problems arise we are contacted. I am very happy with the care she is given here.

The care staff are just amazing in the home. They are very caring and take good care of my father. The food is also good with a variety of meals. We have eaten with my father, the roast was very good. The home and staff are very accomodating to my father's needs and hospital/doctors appointments.

A really lovely welcoming care home, not too big so residents feel they are among family and we know she is being looked after. Relatives are able to visit anytime and included in activities if they want to. A homely lounge and a brilliant movie room on the 1st floor. Christmas was excellent and the
food is excellent.

Mum was staying in a privately funded nursing home and had to move owing to financial constraints. We were given a choice of at least 5 care homes to choose from by the council, and immediately the atmosphere at Parkside Lodge felt right. Mum was made to feel welcome from the start and in October, a
special tea was laid on to celebrate her 100th birthday. The staff are friendly and helpful, and she feels at home there. We have no complaints about her care, especially when a health problem was noticed by a carer, and an appointment was made for her to see a doctor. Despite various activities on offer, mum prefers to stay in her room, which is a shame.
All in all highly recommended!

My stepmother has been a resident at Parkside Lodge for nearly 2 years and is extremely happy there. The care she receives is second to none and the staff really do care for the residents, making sure they are happy and consoling them when they are sad. I have recommended Parkside to a lot of people
and will continue to do so. I hope if and when a time comes that I should ever need care that the place I go is as good as this.

I'm very happy with the care given to my friend. She can be difficult sometimes but the staff are very good with her. The staff, including the cleaners and cook, involve themselves with the residents. They have activities on weekdays and outings which I know the residents enjoy. The home is kept very
clean and the menu is very varied with lots of choice.

In August my 94-year-old friend passed away at Parkside Lodge Care Home where he had been a happy resident for 20 months. It didn't take long to settle into the calm routine that makes the home run so smoothly, guided by the manager and administrator.

He soon got to realise that the carers were the

life blood of the home and throughout his stay was always telling me how kind and efficient they were. He enjoyed his time in the spacious lounge especially in the afternoons taking part in the various activities such as quizzes, skittles, sing a long etc. He enjoyed the food and was happy to pass time in his own room which he chose himself when he arrived.

Towards the end he had to stay in his bed as he got frailer and it was nice to see the carers still visiting just for a chat and a laugh. At all times he was kept clean and tidy, likewise his surroundings. Without a doubt, it was the staff who worked so hard to make him comfortable and make his last days as pleasant as possible.

After a period of trying to find a suitable home for my father in 2015 we came across Parkside and straight away felt that we had found the right place.
My father spent a very happy year at Parkside and always felt looked after and happy with his overall care.
We found the staff to be polite, cheerful
and helpful whenever we called and could not fault the standard of care provided. The surroundings were always clean and tidy and it was obvious that work was always ongoing to improve the décor and surroundings.
Socialising was never high on my father's agenda but the staff managed to get him joining in with various activities during the year and rekindled a love of gardening.
I would not hesitate to recommend Parkside to anyone looking for somewhere to place a loved one.

My mother became frail in 2015 and chose to go into a home. She made specific requests about her care, size of room, home, activities, outside access etc. She was delighted with her ground floor, newly refurbished room in a small, very personal service home, settling in quickly. Her individual care
she was excellent. She formed happy relationships with her carers. New managers brought changes. Some trusted carers moved on. Agency staff attended, less familiar with her needs. She appreciated the problems and coped. In summer she enjoyed me wheeling her to the park, into town and the seafront. By winter she felt indoor activities needed proper funding. She enjoyed the occasional live music, wished sing songs were more than wartime melodies. Other activities were sight or hearing based, too difficult to access in a gathering. Few people were brought to join in, interaction with other residents was minimal. Her end of life care was exemplary and great kindness was shown to her.
