Rookwood Residential Care Home is situated close to Burgess Hill town centre, in a quiet tree lined avenue and is close to the shops, bus routes and other amenities.

Rookwood is an exceptionally attractive residence for retired ladies and gentlemen and is designed to meet the care needs of those who wish to be in a pleasant, social and well looked after home.

All rooms are beautifully decorated and furnished to a high standard. Each room has a plasma TV, Wifi and a free private telephone. The dining room has personal table service and the catering is fresh, wholesome and varied.

There is a choice of two comfortable lounges. One of these lounges leads onto Rookwood's large beautifully maintained garden with sheltered patio areas for those who wish to enjoy afternoon tea outdoors during the warmer months. The dedicated Activity team organise a monthly programme of recreational pastimes to enhance daily living within the home. Outings are also organised on a regular basis.

It has been reassuring that mum has settled in so well, despite all of our concerns that this may not be the case. All of the staff are so patient with mum and have always made her feel very welcome right from the start. Nothing is too much trouble. I feel confident that she is well attended to. My
only slight concern is that there sometimes seems to be a break in communications, eg conversations with staff concerning mum seem not to always be communicated to other members of staff so it can be a bit like a game of Chinese Whispers or just hoping messages have been shared.

Having working experience of care home/nursing homes I can honestly say that Rockwood is one of the highest standards that I have found in the Mid-Sussex area all areas of the care and standards are superb. We are very happy that Rockwoods was chosen for my aunt almost one year ago, she has thrived
in her new home.

My sister is very happy, well-fed although her intolerances are not always catered for and if she was not completely with it and refuse certain foods may be ill on occasions. The staff are always friendly and helpful and are consistent.

My aunt has been a resident at Rookwood since June 2019 and she has received the best of care from all staff including the organisation of a 100th birthday party for over 20 relatives.
The premises are of a high standard with regular updating and the quality of furnishings excellent.
All the staff
are friendly, approachable and helpful.
The administration is efficient with timely and accurate billing.
I would completely recommend Rookwood as a place where an aged relative will be safe and well looked after.

My mother came to Rookwood earlier in the year and although we were concerned that the time had come for her to be looked after full time we were very pleasantly surprised with the care and support she has received. The staff are kind to her and always make us welcome when we visit. They are also very
flexible to accommodate mum's choices with her care. Her health has been very stable since going to Rookwood which has given us much needed peace of mind. This is due to the care and attention given by the staff. The food always looks good and nutritious and they also have a monthly activities newsletter listing the upcoming events. Mum is not one for joining in always but does enjoy the entertainment and the activities staff make an effort to get to know a resident's likes. I would definitely recommend Rookwood.

I would definitely recommend Rookwoods. This is an amazing home, with lovely staff who go out of their way with the residents. They really care for them.
My nan moved into the home in February and has really settled in. At 103, for the first time in her life, has friends. She has up to now kept herself
to herself. She is well looked after and feels safe with 24/7 care. She loves the careers and the home. A big thank you to everyone at Rookwoods. It is so lovely to go in and see her with a smile on her face.

Mum knew that she couldn't live on her own anymore but was apprehensive about moving to a care home and what to expect.
The staff at Rookwood have made the transition so much easier for her and us.
Mum receives exactly the care we would have hoped for- staff are very kind and treat the residents with
great care and respect and they are always happy to help with any queries or questions I may have.
There are lots of activities including craft, music, gardening and visiting entertainers.
Rookwood is a bright, spacious and clean environment in which to live and I feel she is very safe there, with all her needs met.
We are extremely happy with Rookwood.

We have complete confidence in Rookwood, my Mother's care and safety needs are being met and the standard of care is very good.
There is always a nice atmosphere in the home and whenever we visit we are made to feel very welcome. In the afternoons, a cup of tea and freshly made cake is always offered,
to visitors as well as residents. The overall standard of cleanliness is high and there are always plenty of carers on duty. A local GP visits weekly to look after any ailments that may crop up from time to time.


There are regular activities planned during the month which my Mother takes part and enjoys and she also looks forward to the trips out that are arranged.
The meals are freshly cooked and alternatives are always available according to likes and dislikes.


My Mother's room is bright and clean and she has a lovely outlook into the garden.
To conclude, we would have no hesitation in recommending Rookwood to families who are placing there loved ones into Care.

I viewed a few homes for my mother-in-law and Rookwood was by far the best.
The staff are friendly and approachable. She is well looked after and can even have her hair cut and coloured! She has a lovely room with access to the garden.
They have craft days which she enjoys and they celebrate the
residents birthdays with a cake.

I was most impressed with the way the staff dealt with my mothers birthday, I felt like extra attention had been spent on mum. Staff had also arranged for a card, bunch of flowers and a cake. I was nearly overwhelmed when the brought the cake in and sang happy birthday to mum. It had not occurred that
the staff would go that extra mile to make her feel at home. I always see the staff treat all of the residents with care, respect and making an effort to lift their spirits. Thank you so much for the care that you are providing.

We had been recommended Rookwood as a possible residential home for my mother. We went to visit and were not disappointed. It is lovely. Beautifully decorated. Nice gardens. Welcoming and helpful staff. We had to wait for a place to become available but, my mother moved in in July and is very happy
there. Her room is lovely and she has everything she needs. She is warm, very well fed(!) and for the first time, in many years, she has company (she likes a chat!). The other residents are friendly and there is always something to do. The daily activities are enjoyable and they work hard to celebrate the memorable occasions (birthdays/remembrance day etc). Everyone feels involved. My mother can still go to outside activities - friends come and take her to her church on Sundays and you can visit whenever you like, they just ask you to avoid meal times. They keep me well informed of everything that goes on and, I too, am always made welcome. Mum and I are very happy. Thanks.

My mother stayed for a week at Rookwood to give her a taster of how life could be in a residential home as she was finding it difficult living in her own home. I am glad to say she absolutely loved it at Rookwood. Everybody was so calm and friendly and very caring and the food and accommodation excellent.
I would be very happy for my mother to live there.

I have always found the management and staff to be friendly and personable. They make every effort to ensure the residents get the most out of their stay, in a friendly and homely environment. Introducing various events throughout the weeks and months coaxing the residence (when willing) to join in
wherever possible.


I do get a lot of comfort knowing my mum is in a safe place and in very good hands. The staff here are very kind and understanding when my mum gets upset, although my mum does have her bolshy moments, they handle it very well.


The chefs also make a big difference, as they make every effort to provide enjoyable, tasty food. The soups are fabulous.


You would be hard pushed to find a better place in my view. Thank you Rookwood, I'd be lost without your support as would my mum.

Rookwood was chosen by my Cousin before she needed care. Each time we visit her she is happy, comfortable and nicely dressed. The staff are always available, friendly and helpful. Zoe

Zoe Francis

Job Title: Registered Manager

Joined: 2021

Hi, I’m Zoe and I am the Registered Manager at Rookwood Residential Home.

I attended the sixth form when I left school and studied child development and health and social care.

Whilst going to the sixth form I also attended Nescot College once a week and was in a work placement at a junior school in Ashtead. During this time, I was also in a day centre for adults with disabilities.

I started my career in older people's care at a nursing home in Burgess Hill where I worked for 8 years. I started in the role of health care assistant and after a few years progressed to a senior role. During my time there I undertook my level 2 & 3 diplomas in health and social care, and also completed level 2 qualifications in dementia care, and team leading.

I began my employment at South Coast Nursing Homes in May 2020 as a health care assistant at Eastridge Manor and was able to quickly progress into a senior role after just 3 months due to my past knowledge and experience.
I remained at Eastridge Manor until August 2021 when I was promoted to the Head of Care position at Rookwood. I was then promoted again to trainee manager in October 2022

My next goals are to further my knowledge and complete level 5 qualifications so I can continue to provide the best care possible to our residents and support my team to the best of my abilities.

Keri Gray

Job Title: Team Leader

Joined: 2018

I left college in 2018 where I gained an A Level in Health and Social Care.

I started working for SCNH at Eastridge Manor in September 2018 as a domestic. I transferred to Rookwood as a Care Assistant in October 2019, since working at Rookwood I was promoted to Senior Care Assistant and am now the Team Leader.


I have completed many courses, including diabetes, care planning, first aid and medication.


My hobbies include reading, baking, socialising with friends and going out for dinner.


I hope to continue to gain experience to allow me to progress in my career.

Liz Gray

Job Title: Home Administrator and Welfare Liaison

Joined: 2007

Hi, my name is Liz and I started working for South Coast Nursing Home in May 2007 as the Administrator for Eastridge Manor EMI Nursing Home, in October 2020 I also took on the role of Rookwood’s Administrator, I enjoyed working at both homes for just over 2 years when I was given the opportunity to work full time at Rookwood as the Administrator and Welfare Liaison, in my new position I will be getting involved a lot more with the residents and relatives booking appointments and helping with trips out with the residents which I am looking forward to.


I have completed my NVQ in Business and Administration, passed the AAT bookkeeping qualification, and I am currently working on the Care Certificate and completing our Fire Warden training.


I enjoy travelling and have visited many cities including Prague, Barcelona, New York, Rome, Seville, with many more to go.

I started working for SCNH in April 2011 as a care assistant and was then promoted to welfare manager at Eastridge Manor.


I joined the activities team at Rookwood in October 2022 after a short period of retirement.


My hobbies include arts and crafts, gardening and exercise. I am a qualified complementary therapist. I am able to use all my skills and hobbies in providing meaningful activities and projects for our residents.


I thoroughly enjoy working as an Activities Co-Ordinator and have job satisfaction every working day.
