Summerley Care Home is dedicated to offering exceptional specialist care for individuals with dementia. Summerley prides itself on delivering outstanding, person centred care. The small and professional staff team are trained and well qualified to carry out their jobs to an excellent standard. They have great understanding of the needs of residents and care for them in a warm, friendly and professional manner, 24 hours a day.

Mealtimes are a social occasion where a choice of nutritious food is offered. Individual dietary requirement can and will be met by the dedicated chefs. My husband has been a resident at Summerley (Care Home) for two years. He has gone through changes in ability and care needs during this time, as his condition declined. The staff and management have adapted to his needs and treated him with patience, dignity and kindness at all times. They have kept
me and my family up to date, contacted the GP promptly with any health worries and found activities (or made original equipment) to improve his quality of life.
They are welcoming to visitors and create a family atmosphere within the home.
I have always found staff treating all residents and other visitors in a kind, compassionate, dignified and positive manner at all times.
Food and drink always look and smells delicious, and the building is always clean, warm and welcoming.
As I and several members of our family work in healthcare, we have experience in care homes. We all feel very lucky to have found this excellent placement.

My nan was a resident until she passed on 26 December 2022. I feel compelled to review her end-of-life care as it was the most outstanding level of care. In comparison to my mum's end-of-life care (provided in the hospital), it was excellent. I was informed immediately of my nan's declining health,
and I was kept in the loop of all medication administered and when it was given. Each time I called for an update, every member of staff was able to provide me with in-depth detail about her health, medication and any changes. The manager was able to explain her end-of-life care, what would happen and how I would be included at every stage. My nan was treated with love, care and respect, and her wishes were respected at all times, as were mine. Even though it was Xmas and she deteriorated rapidly, the staff were attentive, quick to call nurses for immediate pain relief and also make sure I was supported. I was allowed to be with my nan at all times. The staff played her music and comforted her when in pain. I can't thank them enough.

Mum has been at Summerley for around 4-months now with late-onset Alzheimers having been admitted there from the hospital initially on a short stay placement on Boxing Day. Due to Covid, Mum was in isolation for 14-days, which was extremely hard for the family as we didn't know what the home was like,
but from the moment we were able to visit her, we have all been really impressed with the home and staff with their kindness and friendliness to us all which has reassured us that Mum is in the best place to enable all her needs to be met. Easter Sunday was Dad's birthday, and upon his visit, he was greeted by the staff with a homemade card and a birthday cake with the staff and residents singing "happy birthday" to him. I cannot explain what this meant to Dad being the first birthday without Mum at home with him... so thank you to everyone at Summerleyfor their care, dedication to their residents and their kindness to us all - you go above and beyond.

I have nothing but compliments; my mum is well looked after and happy. They have been on top of my mum's dementia and worked very hard to get her to a manageable and comfortable stage. The manager has gone above and beyond to ensure my mum secured a place here.
The staff are amazing are so caring with
the patience required for residents with these conditions.
I genuinely have no concerns or bad comments to give and love the atmosphere when I come to visit.

My family want to thank Summerley care home from the bottom of our hearts for their absolute unconditional care for Dad during his stay with them the last few months. We had to make the hard decision to have Dad taken into care due to Alzheimer's and after several falls at home and a spell in hospital.
Mum was so worried about someone else looking after him and attending to his needs. Once we decided on Summerley, the manager reassured us even before Dad had arrived that he would be very welcome there whatever the challenges. We were overwhelmed with the kindness and the care of all the staff. Nothing was too much trouble, and they were just as caring towards Mum and us, always making sure that on our visits we had tea and biscuits, and never once were they too busy to talk to us about Dad and how he was doing. Dad was only there for 7-weeks, but right to the very end, they showed how much he mattered. We would not hesitate to recommend this care home to others.

During the current Covid-19 outbreak the management and staff have been outstanding. Under normal circumstances, the staff are caring and I have no concerns about the care my dad receives. Dad has always said how happy he is and has never given me any indication of any problem or concerns he has.

In the summer it was clear that Mum who has Alzheimer’s was not coping at home and 3 carer visits per day were only upsetting her and causing her anxiety - she needed constant care and stability. I contacted Summerley as my Granny, Great Aunt and Uncle had all had excellent care there and I hoped it
would be familiar to Mum. My sister and I couldn’t have wished for a better outcome as Mum was assessed and accepted quickly and with ease and her quality of care can be reflected in the fact she settled within days and is the happiest we have seen her in years. A big thank you to all the staff and carers who make the home so special.

My mother has now been at Summerley for over two years. Her care needs are met with dignity and compassion. There is good communication from the excellent care staff, who I could not fault.
Mum's ongoing dementia is quite challenging, but the staff are very professional in dealing with her demands.
The home is very comfortable and is very well situated near the promenade.
I am very happy with all aspects of Mum's care and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Summerley.

In March 2019, we had to make the hardest decision of our lives, to move our dad into a care home. We visited Summerley and were very impressed with what they had to offer. He, unfortunately, passed away in July but the care he received from the staff at Summerley meant that his final months were very
comfortable and full of care. We cannot speak highly enough of all the staff. It made it so much easier for us to leave him after a visit, knowing he was so well looked after. The staff always had a smile on their faces and were unfailingly kind and caring of our dad.
In the final weeks, they stepped up even more. They were so supportive and empathetic to the needs of both our dad and the family, every time we came to visit. I would not hesitate to recommend Summerley to anyone faced with this decision.

My mother-in-law is so happy at Summerley. It was a massive decision to make putting her into a care home but everyone at Summerley made the transition so easy.
All members of staff are really caring. They look after the residents with respect and dignity. They make everyone feel they are at home,
instead of being in a care home. It is one big happy family.

Summerley is an exceptional care home. The informal atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff incredibly caring and cheerful. Plenty of hugs, lots of laughter and very competent staff with some of the best carers I have ever come across. There is nobody hiding in the office here. The whole
team are really involved with the residents' care and getting on with anything that needs doing but the 'phone is always answered and you're never left on the doorstep waiting to get in. Somehow, there is always time for a cup of tea (and often cake) for visitors too. I'm told that the standard of meals is excellent. The cake is certainly jolly good!


Summerley also has the advantage of being a short walk from the seafront, which makes for a very pleasant and easy wheelchair ride through quiet residential streets and along the prom.


All in all a very refreshing change from most care homes I have seen.

This is a care home in the truest sense of the word - from the very start we felt that both my dad and we were being cared for. Nothing was too much trouble and they eased my Dad's last days, giving us the space to sit with Mum quietly, but always on hand if we needed anything and constantly providing
tea and cake!

The care is very good and the staff very good with residents and are always kind and helpful when we visit. The food is varied and well served. We visit at the weekend but there does not seem to be any activities then. A few magazines could be made available for the more active residents.

William brings a wealth of experience to Summerley care home, he has managed care homes now for over a decade having managed services of all sizes including nursing, residential and residential dementia services.


He gained his QCF Level 5 in leadership and management in adult social care at the start of that journey and continues to study Dementia and its effects on the elderly.


William was initially selected not only for his experience and qualifications but because his future Ambitions and Ethos align with the companies.
