Vine House is a small, private, family-run residential home which has enjoyed considerable acclaim and many accolades over 35+ years. They pride themselves on their welcoming and homely atmosphere in addition to their first-rate care.

This special home is located on the outskirts of Midhurst, a small market town, in the heart of the South Downs National Park. A wide selection of shops and amenities are close-by. Their own mobility car assists with longer journeys to appointments, a trip to the beach or there’s a popular bus stop just outside.

Vine House is a traditional, large family home with 14 well-furnished bedrooms; all equipped with Nurse Call, a television, Wi Fi, an Amazon Echo and a telephone facility. Residents are encouraged to bring their own furnishings, memorabilia, pictures and knick-knacks to personalise their own bedroom. Twelve bedrooms have en-suite facilities while the remaining two bedrooms have vanity units (wash basins) and have easy access to adjacent bathrooms.

Well maintained gardens boast several separate patio areas to enjoy the summer sun, the wildlife or just watch the world go by! Many residents love to tend to their own individual raised flower beds or contributing to their fruit and vegetable gardens. A private car park can be found at the rear of the home and there is also ample off-street parking available.

The Vine House staff are noted for being compassionate and caring and pride themselves on always providing a high level of round-the-clock care and support. GPs and health practitioners visit whenever needed while a chiropodist, hairdressers and clergy visit regularly. There are a variety of daily activities, special events, local outings and of course there is always time for a cuppa and a chat!

Friends and family are welcome to visit whenever they wish. To join residents for lunch or afternoon tea or just to pop in and say hello - the doors are always open.

Vine House is simply wonderful. Set in a quiet residential road and surrounded by beautiful gardens, it’s a very tranquil older person residence. Vine House has a warm and welcoming atmosphere and the staff are always friendly, helpful and extremely caring towards residents, relatives and visitors.
The management ensures an inclusive attitude for all residents and we are constantly surprised and impressed by the number of activities and social get-togethers provided throughout the year. It’s scrupulously clean and fresh with good sized rooms. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a care home with that home from home feel. Vine House, its management and staff are all first class.

From day one my Aunt and family were welcomed into the happy home of Vine House. All the staff are excellent, willing to go that extra mile, making Vine House a warm and homely place to live. The recreational events organised by Vine House are well attended and enjoyed by all. We love the place so much
and recommend it, so much so my father is going to put his name down to live there in the future.

My mother entered Vine House when she had advanced dementia and no longer safe to live in her own home. Sadly it soon became evident that she was close to end of life and stopped eating. Mum's stay in Vine House was only for 7 weeks but for that short time, we were so happy that we had chosen this home,
as she was so well cared for. The staff couldn't have done more for her as we all tried to encourage mum to eat. The food always looked and smelt delicious. The management always kept us informed of any changes and did their best to keep mum comfortable and safe. I would have no hesitation in recommending Vine House. It was like home from home. I just wish that mum had longer to enjoy her stay.

My mother has been in Vine House for 13 years and passed away peacefully on 13th February. The care during the passing years has been exceptional. During the last four weeks when my mother's health declined, the care and consideration from the staff was outstanding.
During her time at Vine House, there
were ample things to do in the way of entertainment.
In summary, I would thoroughly recommend Vine House to anyone.

My mother was in poor health when she first came to stay at Vine House in January 2015 for respite care. The staff have looked after her so well she has stayed as a permanent residence since then. Her health is so good now thanks to the caring, helpful and thoughtful staff and management. Nothing is
too much trouble for any of them. Mum considers Vine House as her home from home and loves it. I would recommend the care home, Vine House to anyone looking for care for their elderly relatives.

What really stands out for us is the most friendly warmth of this home - we find that the staff and management couldn't be kinder or more helpful in the way they look after my father and relate to his family and friends when we visit. We always find them cheerful and upbeat whatever the demands of the
day bring. They also keep us well informed about his wellbeing.


We have been pleasantly surprised by the range of activities which the home arranges for the residents which enables them to socialise and stimulates their interests (e.g. games and visits by local organisations looking after owls and ponies).


We have always found his rooms clean and it is well furnished. The rooms seem to be well lit with pleasant views over the garden and the surrounding countryside.


Overall we are delighted by the way they are looking after my father and the most pleasant atmosphere of the home together with its location.

Mother-in-law moved into Vine House in October, when she was unable to look after herself in her flat. She is very happy and we are confident that she is getting the best care possible. Mum's been in here for years now and, as the Manager said, is part of the furniture! At almost 84 she's more on the ball than us, on account of the home cooking and copious cups of tea. She enjoys lively banter with all the staff, especially the Manager who is in-house court jester as well as Manager!
They had owls in to visit yesterday and mum loved them and is looking forward to their return visit for the annual August garden party! Vine House is a cosy home from home and we're always sad to leave!

My aunt initially came to Vine house for a respite stay but settled in very quickly and is now a permanent resident. The primary impression I have of Vine House is that of a home not a hotel. Everyone is friendly and the staff really care about the residents. My aunt commented that the food is "like
a restaurant" and enjoys her food. Her room is very nice but she spends most of her time in the sitting room as she likes the company of the residents and the staff.


As a visitor I am always welcomed and know most of the staff by their first names. The management organise various visits from local schools and the like to interact with the residents and encourage them to partake in the activities.


My aunt resisted our suggestions to enter a home for a long time but now she is very content and I am confident that she is the hands of genuine, professional and caring people who do their utmost to look after her.

Andrew has over 30 years of experience in business management and service delivery across a number of highly regulated, high expectation customer service industries.


He has worked alongside his father, Alan Hill (Founder and Provider) at various times since the Home was established 37 years ago. Andrew has led the family business since 2013. Andrew holds several management recognised qualifications and has undertaken mandatory and further social care training. He is well known and respected by other health professionals in West Sussex and further afield.

Christine’s appointment as Manager has been very warmly received by all at Vine House.


Chris has a substantial amount of experience of health care settings spanning over 25 years, the past six years of which as a Registered Manager. She prides herself on her hands-on approach, her organisational skills and ability to nurture a good team. Chris’s caring, personable nature and strong care ethos fits Vine House perfectly in ensuring the residents’ come first in everything we do.


Chris relished the opportunity of joining the Vine House team and in doing so, fought of strong competition to make her goal a reality.
