Walstead Place Care Home in Haywards Heath is a magnificent 19th-century country squire’s residence, sensitively converted to provide the highest standard of residential care for up to 43 elderly residents, including trial stays, short stays, convalescent care, and permanent care. for individuals or couples.

The care home is set in its own beautiful gardens of some 2½ acres. Walstead Place dates back to 1852, in the small hamlet of Walstead, within a mile of the picturesque village of Lindfield where there is a post office, bank and many local shops and pubs. The home is conveniently placed in relation to the main line commuter station to London and the main motorway network and with Brighton and the South Coast only 12 miles away.

Walstead Place benefits from a dedicated health and wellbeing co-ordinator who plans a wide range of hobbies, events and activities that can be enjoyed by everyone. Events and activities are based on residents' likes, dislikes and feedback to ensure they are inclusive and remain varied. Dining is an important part of the day to day life at Walstead Place. A qualified chef and their team take great pride in producing varied and appetising menus, providing a nutritious and balanced diet. The cuisine is carefully chosen to meet each resident's nutritional needs.

They have very different needs but both have had excellent care from the friendly caring staff who always have time for a chat and an update. During these difficult COVID-19 times, the home has managed the situation extremely well and the staff

My mother came here, after having lived at a home with a live-in carer. To start with, she seemed to spend a lot of time in her room. However, once an activity coordinator joined the home, she really integrated into life at Walstead. All the carers really looked after her very well and were attentive,
caring and friendly to us all. The kitchen team are excellent too, certainly for mum's dietary needs. While at Walstead, my mother's social skills improved and she enjoyed her time here.

Our experience has been a positive one. From opening the front door, which is always opened quickly to leaving, the staff are always friendly and helpful and our resident is happy and comfortable - which of course is our main concern. Dad liked his quiet room, meals very good. Friendly staff and always helpful and very impressed with the calibre of all staff including housekeeping etc. As with most homes, could do with more staff as I think Dad could have done with more one to one (like a keyworker) to encourage him to take part

From the first meeting, mum was treated with the utmost respect, dignity and every effort was made by all staff to make her feel welcome and comfortable.
The home's open door policy is very open, welcoming and convenient for all members to pop in.
We all had a high opinion of all staff members we
met and mum was looked after by all with a genuine and caring manner.
She left much recovered and well than when she arrived. Thank you very much from us all.

I arrived at Walstead Place feeling very nervous and worried.
6 months on and Walstead is 'my home' and the staff 'my friends'.
Great effort is made to keep us occupied - 'keep fit', quizzes, visiting musicians and singers - yesterday, bell ringers.
The food is excellent and plentiful.
Visitors
are made welcome at any time.
The grounds at Walstead are extensive and I enjoy taking a walk every day.
Could go on forever!

This elegant house is set in lovely grounds. The staff could not have been more welcoming and friendly. They paid great attention to the needs of my husband as he is a long-term diabetic with vascular dementia. The house is beautifully clean and bright and airy. There are activities and outings for

Walstead Place was very welcoming when we went to view it. The staff were very friendly and informative. When my cousin moved to Walstead after a stint in the hospital she was welcomed and made to feel at home. During her 2 weeks of respite, she was treated with respect and compassion. She was very
well fed and accommodated. Great perseverance was shown at all times. I was impressed with all the care.

Jaquie

Jaquie Ferguson

Job Title: Home Manager

Joined: 2001

Jacquie’s primary responsibilities are to provide quality care to all clients, oversee and maintain the smooth running of the business on a day to day basis, maintain standards in accordance with the regulations, and also ensure that the home is optimally marketed.


She enjoys the daily contact with the residents, their families and all the staff. She also enjoys ensuring that the home is able to provide the appropriate care to all clients while maintaining their independence, privacy and the right to choose.


Jacquie has vast experience in the care of the elderly. She is a registered nurse with over 25 years experience, mainly in elderly care, having worked in nursing homes as an RN and eventually a Home Manager, and further went on to work as operations/area manager for a large healthcare company. She came back to the role of Home Manager as she missed the role and working in a care home.


She achieved her Registered Managers Award in 2001. Jacquie is passionate about person centred care and believes in using an individual’s life history when planning their care. As a manager she is passionate about dementia care and has completed a leadership course on this subject.
She has achieved many things in her life but her greatest achievement, and what she is most proud of, is having three great children and seeing them through school and into good careers.
