Situated in the picturesque village of Horsted Keynes, Westall House provides residential care and dementia-friendly care to older people in attractive and comfortable surroundings.

Westall House Care Home has been carefully designed and modernised to provide a high standard of accommodation and offers single ensuite bedrooms, which can be personalised to suit. There is also a guest room for visiting relatives and friends who wish to stay overnight.

A purpose-built dementia-friendly wing was added to the house in 2020 offering residents lovely, airy single rooms each with en-suite facilities, and set within warm and homely surroundings. Westall House understands that dementia affects everyone differently, so support is tailored to suit each person by finding out what they enjoy. This means that they are engaged and interested in activities that are meaningful and fulfilling to them. The cost for dementia care at Westall House starts from ÂŁ1350 per week.

A dedicated activity co-ordinator works hard to provide a busy calendar of social events, pastimes and hobbies ensuring each resident enjoys an active and fulfilled lifestyle. Knit and Knatter sessions, Bingo, coffee mornings, film afternoons and family fun days are just a few of the fun and engaging activities residents can enjoy.

Mealtimes offer a choice of tasty home cooked food prepared by the home's head chef, who ensures all personal preferences and requirements are catered for.

Abbeyfield is proud to offer respite stays here, a short-stay that can be planned ahead, or in the case of an emergency, last-minute. Suitable for individuals seeking support following post-operative or hospital care, or whilst their regular caregiver takes a break, respite care can also be used as a way of introducing long-term residential care to a loved one.

The staff are excellent. The care that my mother receives is of a very high standard.
I have no complaints.
The setting of the home is wonderful. The gardens are peaceful and tended well.
There are plenty of activities to suit all types.

My mother has lived at Westall since January 2022 and has always been very happy. The staff are kind and helpful and always on hand to answer any questions. The activities schedule is varied and the staff always encourage participation.
I go away often and feel completely confident that my mother will

Mother is very well cared for at Westall. All rooms are spotlessly clean and the food is of excellent quality. There is a wide variety of activities and musical events. All the staff are extremely pleasant and caring and treat the residents with dignity.

My Mum has been living in Westall House for 6 months now. The home is really well run and the staff are all friendly, hard-working and very engaged with my Mum. The home tries exceptionally hard to ensure that activities are constantly organised so that if the residents want interactions and distractions
there are opportunities. The premises are very comfortable and my Mum is always praising the food.

The care staff have been extremely patient and reassuring to my mother-in-law to reduce her anxiety over moving into residential care. Everyone makes sure all the residents are cared for with dignity and respect while allowing them to make their own choices if able.

Westall House is outstanding. It provides a warm, friendly, efficient and caring home where individuals are valued and nothing is too much trouble. Residents are kept stimulated by interesting and fun activities and there always seems to be a great deal of laughter. The food is great and varied and
special likes and dislikes are catered for. My friend has lived there for over a year and loves it. The other residents and the staff are her new family now and as she deteriorates she is so well cared for and I know she is safe. The staff treat her as if she is their mum. When I visit I am always made to feel really welcome and I am kept informed about her condition and I can talk to any of them about any worries I have. So good.

Westall House staff provide a happy, caring and stimulating environment for their residents who they treat like family. Every staff member greets family members with a smile and they are polite, considerate and communicate to family members any issues or worries in a timely manner.
My nan loved being
a Westall resident and was there for 7 years until she passed at 102. They looked after her like she was their nan and gave us peace of mind to know she was loved and cared for.
My grandad is now a resident and is very happy. He is well looked after, enjoys the wonderful food and the entertainment (especially bingo) and is comfortable, safe, happy and enjoys his life.
As a family, we feel so grateful to all the staff for looking after our beloved grandparents and we can’t recommend them highly enough.
Westall is also brilliant at events that involve all family members, young and old and encourage inter-generational gatherings and interactions.

Having been suddenly widowed during Covid and following a fall at home and another during her hospital stay, it became apparent that Mum needed more support than we could offer as a family out at work. Despite care attending morning and evening, Mum herself did not feel she could or wanted to manage
at home anymore. Alzheimer's had progressed rapidly during lockdowns and further whilst in hospital. We looked at five homes in total and the moment we walked into her, now, room at Westall, it felt like the right place. The residents and staff were so friendly and using the communal spaces, unlike many of the other homes we had viewed. Mum moved in a week before Christmas and has not looked back. She is taking part in most activities, enjoying her days and socialising with new friends in her evenings. Her confidence walking has come on loads and the team are just amazing at encouraging and supporting her. We don't think she has looked as well or as happy as she does now for several years!

My mother, who has dementia, moved to Westall House in September 2021. Since then, I have been hugely impressed by the care she has received. I cannot praise the staff highly enough for their commitment, dedication and deep interest in making my mother's new life there as happy and fulfilling as possible.
I visited eight other care homes before choosing Westall and I am thankful to say my decision has proved the right one. My mother now feels safe, looked after and has a new purpose in her life. It is clear why Westall is rated as one of the few outstanding homes in the area, and I would not hesitate in recommending it.

We had kept our mum at home for as long as possible but it became apparent that she could no longer live alone in her home of 63 years. Westall House sprang to mind as Ma had already been there for respite four years ago. It was impressive from the start that many of the staff remembered her. It is
still early days for her but thanks to the wonderful care and attention that the staff have given her she is settling well. There is a lovely family atmosphere and our mum is looking well and very rested. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are so friendly and positive.

Sadly my mum passed away a month ago, but had spent her last eight months at Westall House. She was incredibly happy there, from the first day.
The staff are wonderful, kind, attentive and nothing is too much trouble for them.
Even in the pandemic, they have kept a fabulous entertainment programme
going, so lovely to see such happy faces.
The food at Westall House is varied and great quality too, and personalised to each residents likes and dislikes.
I would thoroughly recommend Westall House to anyone considering this chapter for their loved ones. It is run with utter professionalism and loving care.

The care and facilities at Westall House are of the highest standard. It is so comforting to see Uncle being so well looked after. He is happy and contented. The interaction with relatives is good and it is so lovely to be able to see pictures on Facebook when we have been unable to visit during Covid

It's early days - my mother became a resident in the brand new dementia wing around six weeks ago - but we were absolutely confident that Westall House is an absolute gem. Set in beautiful countryside, the home exudes an air of quiet confidence and professionalism in a tranquil setting. The staff have
been wonderful and everything seems so personal and friendly because the unit is small and the team has been carefully selected. The building is absolutely brand new and very modern and comfortable. Best of all, my mother seems so much more calm and relaxed than ever before. Wonderful!

Since moving to Westall House in 2015, my father has had nothing but happiness, respect and above all, wonderful care. All staff at Westall House contribute to a warm and friendly environment with residents wellbeing as their primary concern. Every team member makes so much effort and since the pandemic,
they have gone the extra mile to make up for the loss of personal contact by relatives. Entertainment for the residents has continued throughout, with events daily to help pass the time in a great environment. The activities organiser is extremely resourceful and creative, finding ways to bring residents together and join in. Photos from the website and Facebook testify to the joy that this brings. We are so lucky to have found the right place for dad to pass his remaining time and he has enjoyed it so much.
