My experience with Hatley Court is a positive one. The staff are always so happy, friendly and always willing to help. They are so kind and caring and take the time, even when they are so busy, to sit with an individual who needs some reassurance. My mother is very happy and content and I thank the
staff for being so wonderful with her. I know my mother is safe and well and cared for. I visit her daily and I am also made to feel very welcome. Overall, Hatley Court is definitely a home I would recommend.

My mother received wonderful care at Hatley Court over a period of approximately three and a half years prior to sadly passing away earlier this year. The staff were always attentive and extremely kind and made life as comfortable as possible during her time there. The management personnel at Hatley
Court worked very hard to arrange various events and special occasions that were enjoyed by residents and were always on hand to deal with any queries.

Staff and management are very kind and helpful although communication to relatives can be poor at times. It's hard to judge certain elements of the home and care provided due to the pandemic but Mum's mental health appears to have improved along with her personal hygiene since being placed into care.

My mother has been a resident for nearly four years. In that time the specialist care team have, to the best of my knowledge, performed outstanding work to keep her healthy (physically), comfortable, clean and safe. It was a tremendous source of comfort to my late father to know this. Thank you to all,
especially during the last 18 months of Covid which made achieving all this especially impressive.

I cannot praise the staff enough even in normal times, let alone in the present circumstances. Just hope all the precautions are keeping the virus at bay. I am certainly very happy that my wife is in the best possible place in these trying times. A million thanks for at alone.

As I live a great distance away, I can only comment on what I'm told by my mother or staff, but on visiting the home, it is very clean, and the staff are friendly. During the current epidemic, I'm very pleased with the lockdown procedures and that no one has the virus. Overall, very happy with what
I've seen.

Hatley Court Haven provides a good standard of care. My mum has been at Hatley for just over a year and has blossomed since she's been there. The care staff work very hard to meet individual need and are always approachable and friendly. They work hard to establish positive relationships with residents
and often go 'the extra mile' to achieve this e.g. providing the loan of a TV during lockdown so that Mum could view a DVD of her own mother's funeral. There are the usual niggles about food not arriving hot enough (common to all care homes I should think), but the food is of a good quality and the chef tries very hard to cook what residents like to eat. The Activities Coordinator is great. Outside of lockdown there are many activities, including trips, to choose from, and during lockdown, activities continue with quizzes, music and outdoor fun. Overall, a lovely home.

Current Review Score: 8.7 (8.745)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.745) out of 10 for Hatley Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.557 for Hatley Court is calculated as follows: ( (43 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (4 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 70 Ratings = 4.557

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.188 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hatley Court is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 51 registered maximum number of service users is 10.2. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 10.2 = 0.588

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
