Keneydon House is a Residential Dementia care home situated in Whittlesey within walking distance of the town centre. In a homely setting, carers provide personalised care, attention and stimulation to people of 65 years or more who due to dementia are no longer able to cope on their own. Each resident is treated as an individual and staff encourage as full and active a lifestyle as possible.

The home has a heritage of over twenty years and is registered for twenty-one residents. A smaller size means that residents benefit from an exceptionally high level of personalised care, provided by skilled, friendly staff. The care provided is built around residents' strengths and constantly seeks to improve their quality of life.

In addition to the comfort and security of 24-hour care, residents are encouraged to enjoy regular activities, outings and entertainment and can celebrate traditional festivities as they would in their own homes. As such visitors are welcome at any time.

All the members of staff were brilliant with my mum. They were very attentive to her needs and made sure she was as comfortable as possible. Even the managers and kitchen staff were very friendly and helped put me at ease that my mum was in great hands. I would highly recommend this home.

Visited my mother on 27.1.25. She was in good health, well dressed happy with everything upon questioning. She advised that she had no extra requirements and she was happy and well. Interaction with the staff is always positive and friendly.

I am incredibly grateful for the exceptional care and support given by Keneydon House. The staff are highly and professionally compassionate, treating each resident with respect and dignity. My wife thrived there, she made new friends and enjoyed a quality of life we hoped for, she often said that
she liked it there, and it was happy and peaceful. Communication with the staff was very pleasant, and were always available to answer any concerns. I must also mention, the managerial team, who also treated me with care and compassion, and I will be forever grateful to them. I would recommend Keneydon House to anyone looking for a safe and supportive home.

I can only visit my sister every 4-6 weeks but I find management are very good and staff seem friendly too.
I have been concerned about items going missing in the past.
I do think also that a female should help my sister to wash and dress rather than a male but I guess that is necessary.

I feel it very necessary to address issues regarding the staff at Keneydon House. Two staff members have been extremely rude to me personally. Generally it has become obvious that the majority of staff (not all) their hate their jobs. I also believe that foreign workers are treated poorly. This is very
worrying to me as both of my parents are residents. I am also aware that some residents are left for hours with no stimulation or interaction. There has been incidents where I have visited and my parents are wearing filthy clothes. I arrived on Christmas morning, my parents room smelled horrific, the commode was full to the brim and had obviously not been emptied recently. The smell was of ammonia was so strong I couldn't tolerate it for more than a few minutes. I actually dread visiting the home and am extremely anxious every time I do. This is completely unacceptable to me but when I've questioned particularly things I've always been given a brush off answers.

I would like to thank all the care staff for looking after my uncle so well whilst he stayed at Keneydon House. He was in for 2 weeks respite to get him back on track with his nutritional intake and taking his medication correctly. Everyone was extremely kind and understanding of my uncle’s memory problems
as he has vascular dementia. I had regular updates on his well-being during his stay and nothing was too much trouble to meet his needs. Keneydon House would be the first place I would contact if my uncle needed respite again, knowing he would be safe and well cared for.

I have known this care home for some years. One of my parents was a resident some years ago. From my experience of visiting Keneydon House, I have certainly seen many positive changes. Since the current manager took over changes are now being implemented in a very positive way. The staff seem very happy
in their work and interacting with the residents in a way that is improving the outlook for all.

The staff were professional, accomodating, caring, and kind. When my father was reaching the end of his life staff were sensitive and professional making sure dad was comfortable and pain-free. They kept us informed and supported us along the way. Thank you Keneydon House!

My mother was admitted to this care home November 2020 - until she passed away June 2021. The staff from management all the way down are absolutely first class, the care, compassion, fondness detail to work they all showed was brilliant even down to the guard of honour they formed when my mother's body
was taken away. The only reason I have given some low marks is because the place itself needed some TLC although I have been shown pictures that re-dec has been done so that's brilliant news. My sister has become firm friends with staff that says it all.

My mother has been cared for in this home since 2020 after a very difficult time previously which was not discovered until Christmas 2020 whilst in hospital. On arriving at the home the staff have been absolutely great with her. It has taken patience and understanding as well as smiling faces. She has
come out of her shell and is much happier. The staff have had to contend with many challenges protecting my mum from other outside sources. Which will hopefully soon be addressed by law.

My concerns about my nan going into a care home were quickly erased after seeing how welcomed and happy she was. Not being able to visit through Covid was tough but as a family we were often sent updates/photos/videos. Plenty of facetimes too! After spending so long on her own it was clear to see how
well and quickly she settled in! Outstanding service provided by the staff at Keneydon House! Pure compassion right through till the end. Highly recommend, thank you!

Mum was a resident here between November 2020 to June 2021. Mum had vascular dementia and had deteriorated and withrewan. The care the home provided was excellent, Mums speech improved she laughed again and would sing when another resident played the piano. To see her enjoying herself was fantastic,
exactly what she needed. The staff were fantastic and made time to be with the residents. I was so grateful she was there and I was able to spend time with her.

I have always found the staff very helpful and very friendly towards both myself and my dad. The staff always accommodate my dad's needs even if it's a sandwich at midnight, nothing is too much trouble. I wouldn't want my dad to go anywhere else.

My sister-in-law could not have received better care. The staff were efficient yet caring and compassionate. She celebrated her 85th birthday while she was a resident in Keneydon House and the staff went that extra mile, baking a cake to be shared by all, and singing happy birthday to her. In her final
hours, the staff could not have been more attentive, professional, and caring, and dedicated.

I was very apprehensive about coming to this care home after my last experience at another home. I did not need to worry as from day one all the staff have made my stay comfortable, and I do not feel stressed. They put themselves out to help everyone here, and nothing is to much trouble. From the manager
downwards these ladies make life in this home relaxing and comfortable to be part of this environment. I would recommend this care home to anyone.

Current Review Score: 9.1 (9.138)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.1 (9.138) out of 10 for Keneydon House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.4 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.438 for Keneydon House is calculated as follows: ( (63 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) + (10 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 89 Ratings = 4.438

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Keneydon House is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 21 registered maximum number of service users is 4.2, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
