My sister, wife and I all agree that our Mother could not have received better care than she was given at Paxton Hall. She was at the care home for a considerable time and we think that all aspects of her care could not have been better. We would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone looking
for a safe and friendly environment for their family member and will use Paxton Hall again when we are no longer able to look after my wife's Mother.

Mum has been at Paxton Hall since August 2019 and has settled extremely well. My brother and I are very happy with how things are. All the staff have been so welcoming to both her and to us. The fact that we can visit at any time is great, and we do drop in at any time. It has made this difficult time
so much easier for us but, more especially, for Mum.

My mother thoroughly enjoyed her respite stay. The staff could not do enough to help her and never got impatient. The food was nutritious, plentiful and appetising. There were choices at every meal. All the family were made welcome and given cups of tea, biscuits and squash when visiting. Even our black
poodle was made a fuss of by both staff and other residents. There were lots of activities on offer. My mother was given a TV in her room. Staff took an interest in her knitting. All residents were encouraged to make friends with each other and visited each other’s rooms and sat together at the dining table. My mother is not a morning person so the staff brought her breakfast to her room. She really enjoyed her bubble bath and the mobile hairdresser took notice of how she wanted her hair styled. Mother ordered a newspaper and this was delivered to her room without fail every morning. She has promised to regularly visit now she has returned home. Thank you, everyone!

Wonderful caring people who made my break possible. I felt free as a bird with absolutely no worries that my husband would be happy and well cared for. The day after tomorrow he goes in as a permanent resident. I feel guilty but secure in the knowledge that he will definitely be in the best place.

My Mum passed away this April after living at Paxton Hall for nearly 3 years. During her time there, she was treated with dignity and respect and just as importantly with great affection and understanding. In my view, the care and support she received was second to none. Paxton Hall operates very much
as a family home and mum's visitors were always warmly welcomed by the staff. The food was excellent with every effort being made to meet mum's particular needs. Mum's room was clean and tidy and the communal areas/grounds were well cared for. Regular updates were received regarding mum's wellbeing and news of forthcoming events sent monthly. The real stars of the show were the staff; their warmth towards the residents was so sincere.
Mum's physical needs were met, with staff going above and beyond their duties to make her stay a pleasant one; Mum was always very happy in their company. Finally, mum's passing was treated with such respect for which the family was very grateful.

I would particularly like to comment on Christmas Day which the family spent with Dad at the home. It was a truly wonderful day. The food was excellent and the staff could not have done more for us. A remarkable day which we will hold dear in our memories. The family day gathering (mince pies etc)
was also a lovely day which we all very much enjoyed.

There is no opportunity to comment on care/cleaning of clothes etc - we found this to be excellent.

The staff took great care to help my family place Dad who needed urgent care having come out of hospital and unable to go back home independently. My sister and I were given caring and informative help to make decisions regarding dads care, even down to the placement of his room. All his needs were
met and the staff were all helpful and friendly. We are very happy with the care Dad received whilst he was at Paxton Hall, he was well looked after, well fed and we felt confident that he was in safe hands. We were kept informed about any decisions, health care options and all areas of Dad's needs. Thank You!

Finding a care home for a loved one is a difficult undertaking. Having looked after my mother for five years, I needed to find somewhere I was completely happy with, somewhere my mother would feel at home.
Paxton Hall is that place. From the moment I walked in, I knew this was the right place. The
staff are all caring, friendly, respectful of the residents and aware of their individual needs, patient and always keeping the resident's company.
I think care would be the word I would use to describe Paxton Hall. Care of the residents, and the surroundings and is always clean and tidy. The food is brilliant and the gardens are beautiful.
My mother has her own room which is always immaculate and made homely by the addition of personal items. Everyone knows who she is, and what is happening to her, she cannot communicate very well, but she is always listened to.
I feel so lucky to have found Paxton Hall. I am happy, the family is happy, but most importantly my mother is happy.

When the time comes this is just the place you want your relative to go to. It is such a hard and emotional thing to have to do. The home is clean and welcoming so I was confident that my husband would be well cared for. The staff could not be more loving and attentive, (and always plenty of them around)
the food is second to none. Even through the night he was checked on and turned. I always worried that he would not be looked after as well as I did for him, but I was wrong, he was always clean, smart, well feed and encouraged to walk about. What more can you ask for but to walk away (for a short break) knowing that all is well.

Having visited a number of care homes in the vicinity we knew as soon as we walked into Paxton Hall that we had found the right place for our mother. We needed to find a care home for the duration of around six weeks for her to recuperate after surgery. The staff at Paxton Hall were kind, caring and
unfailingly cheerful, nothing was too much trouble.

The food was excellent, with a freshly cooked breakfast, lunch and then afternoon tea you could not get better... they greeted me with tea and cake on a number of occasions when I visited. The rooms are bright clean and well equipped and the communal areas of which there are at least three sitting rooms were spotlessly clean and fitted with comfortable and homely furniture and televisions. There is also a lovely conservatory which makes a great place to sit and read in peace... you honestly could not ask for more.

I would not hesitate to recommend this care home to anyone.

The 'Care home' as it is known, is exactly what the definition is - they care and go out of their way to keep caring even when things get hard. I would have no hesitation in recommending them as they do not only CARE for my mother but also when needed CARE for and support myself. Nothing is too much
trouble. You can visit whatever time of the day and they will always treat you with respect and as you are an extended member of the bigger family!!

Thank you ALL!!

All staff are always helpful and caring, I have never met anyone who is rude or dismissive.
There are several activities arranged for residents.
As a family we have always been made welcome, the children, when visiting their great-nanna, are never made to feel 'in the way', and always offered soft
drinks, tea and biscuits (they even had tea with nannie).

Very pleased with the care and attention shown to my mother who is still a resident and my father who sadly died July 2018. The staff are very friendly and approachable. There is a serene calmness within the home with a relaxed atmosphere. Food is plentiful and all fresh ingredients prepared and cooked
on site. Portions very substantial. I can’t recommend Paxton Hall enough. In fact, I have been spreading the word when people ask.

My brother-in-law spent 2 weeks respite at Paxton Hall. On his return home he had nothing but praise for the home, the carers and the food. He has not stopped praising the standard of food so well done the chefs!!!! We packed him up with loads of goodies which most came home with him as he was too well
fed to eat them. Congratulations for running and managing a lovely and clean care home.

Current Review Score: 9.8 (9.758)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.8 (9.758) out of 10 for Paxton Hall Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.958 for Paxton Hall Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (92 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.958

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Paxton Hall Care Home is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 39 registered maximum number of service users is 7.8, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
