Rheola Care Centre is a 42 bedded care home providing person centred care for adults aged 65+, including those living with dementia.

The home is within walking distance of St Ives town centre which has a wide range of shops including a Post Office, Banks, Supermarkets and a Bakers along with pubs, restaurants and cafes and hosts a Market every Monday and Friday.

Rheola Care Centre is divided into 4 units over two floors. All rooms are single occupancy and 10 rooms have en-suite facilities.

People living at Rheola Care Centre can enjoy a variety of communal areas with the 2 units on the ground floor having a combined dining and lounge areas and the 2 units on the first floor having a combined dining and lounge area to cater for both units. All units have access to a small kitchenette area as well as bathrooms, shower rooms and toilets throughout the home.

The upper floor of the home is accessed by stairs or lift. All areas of the home are accessible for wheelchair users.

Rheola Care Centre provides:

Along with many others during the first lockdown in 2020, after having her independence and social life taken away from her, Mum suddenly developed mental health and anxiety issues. After several admissions to hospital, Rheola were kind enough to take Mum temporarily for some respite care. Nine months
later and Mum is flourishing and has decided she would like to stay permanently. She had some wobbles in the early days and the Rheola staff were patient, understanding and kind. Mum is now thriving thanks to the wonderful care and attention she has received, she has put on weight and her old spark has returned. I can’t speak highly enough of the staff and their devotion to the residents. Thank you so much, you’re awesome!

It was a hard decision to put Dad in a home. After talking to the manager on the phone she relaxed us told us of the people we needed to contact and that it was normal to feel the way we do. Anyway, He's been there for over six months now, we've had visits to see him and can take him out for a stroll
along the river and he seems happy. He's made friends and has put on weight. Been playing Bingo and watching old western films which he loves. It still feels strange but he's enjoying life again!

Such a family feel to the home. Staff are friendly and welcoming, even throughout Covid when things couldn’t have been easy for them.
The food must be good as Mum has gained weight and loves the puddings!
The gardens are lovely and spacious. Had visits sitting out there with Mum and it’s very relaxing.

My dad has been in Rheola for 10 weeks now and we are so happy with the care he is receiving. The staff are friendly and keep us very well informed of any issues and the manager sends us photos of Dad on WhatsApp every so often which is lovely. The residents do regular activities, which is helpful
for Dad's dementia. We were very happy and impressed to hear that each resident has their own special day each month when the focus is on them and they receive extra 'one-to-one time' and attention.
Due to Covid regulations, I have unfortunately not yet been able to visit inside the home, so am not fully able to comment on its interior and the standards of cleanliness etc, but from the photos and video calls, I have received a good impression. Dad has settled well and it's such a relief and blessing to know that he is being so well cared for.

My father moved to Rheola a couple of months ago from another care home and the difference in care and treatment is unbelievable. From the very first contact with the home, staff have been friendly, welcoming and fully understanding of our situation to place Dad into their care. Their attention to detail
prior to admission was very impressive and ensured that the transition to the new home was as smooth as possible and that Dad received the care he needed from day one. At the moment, we call the home each day to check on Dad and our calls are always handled in a friendly and informative manner, nothing is too much trouble and they genuinely really care about their residents. They have gone out of their way to ensure the care given to Dad meets our expectations, and the peace of mind this has given the whole family in knowing that Dad is being well looked after (considering his dementia needs) has been massively reassuring. I cannot find anything negative to share.

My mother moved into Rheola Care Home during the Covid pandemic and we feel so grateful to have found such a wonderful place for her to live.
The Home Manager and every member of the team go above and beyond with their kindness and care. They are always available for any help or advice and nothing
is too much trouble.
It has been such a difficult time for everyone but Rheola’s priority is always for the safety and well being of their residents.
They include the family of the residents as part of the Rheola family too and it is a very happy home.

My mum has been in Rheola for eight weeks and will be staying there on a permanent basis. It’s heartwarming to see that my mum has settled in so well. The staff are all amazing and show so much care and compassion to each individual resident. It’s lovely to see my mum getting involved with baking, bingo
and enjoying a pampering session having her nails done. Rheola is such a happy place and I’m always greeted by smiles and laughter. I would definitely recommend Rheola to anyone who is seeking care for a loved one or family member.

Wow! I have been blown away by the amazing care and support that has been given to my nan during her recent move to Rheola Care Home. The home manager has especially been wonderful, and nothing has been too much for her when she was supporting my nan to move in. She has arranged visits for my mum and
I to see my nan which we have been so grateful for in such a difficult time! Since moving to the care home my nan looks amazing! She’s getting her hair done regularly and she seems to have gained weight which is testament to the good food she’s been eating every day! Care staff have supported her to meet with other residents and join in with activities. Everyone has helped to keep my nan in contact with her family via phone calls and video calls which is very much appreciated! The icing on top of the cake is the fact that all the staff have gone to amazing lengths to decorate the care home and make it so festive for residents and visiting family members. Thank you so much to everyone!

It has been a very demanding time during the last five months for both staff and residents. The staff appear to have coped well recognising the distress for residents having no visitors and not being able to go out. They have attempted to keep relatives/friends in communication (i.e sending photo cards
and helping with Facetime meetings). Most activities inevitably have not taken place, but the recent controlled visiting has been very much appreciated despite involving the staff in much extra work. Staff have been great.

Obviously, these have been extremely difficult times for the care sector, but the staff at Rheola have been excellent in keeping the virus out of the care home while still maintaining a high level of care and service. Facetime calls have been made to relatives to maintain contact with loved one (so
important), and now we are offered garden visits by appointment. I cannot thank enough the staff at Rheola for their continued support.

I can’t praise the St Ives home enough!
Where to start?
The staff are nothing short of amazing, they go way beyond the care that is needed. My nan isn’t the easiest person to understand, but they have taken the time to know her and understand her ways. We all visit at least twice a week so now in
lockdown it’s hard for her, we didn’t want her to think she was abandoned.
The staff work as a team and know exactly what’s going on or what needs to be addressed.
They spend the time chatting to my nan and now they are in lockdown during the coronavirus the hairdresser can’t come in but they still make the time to make her feel special and do it for her. They video message me, my brother and my mum, in this awkward time, at least once a week. They are just like an extended family and I don’t know what we would do without them.
They help us all, making us feel relaxed knowing that my nan needs for nothing and is in the best possible hands, which believe me is a hard thing to do. Thank you Rheola.

I can't imagine any other care home being as welcoming and friendly as Rheola. This is a testament to the wonderful staff and management of the home. They treat all the different characters with equal respect and time and nothing is too much for them. I particularly like the fact that although they
are kept busy they can always find time to sit with individual residents (those who may not have as many visitors as others or those who just want company). I never worry that things are different when I am not there visiting, I know that all the staff genuinely care and love the residents of the home. There is a good variety of activities planned each week for everyone and each day there are meal options to accommodate everybody. The general warmth of the home is immediately apparent when you visit and it's something to look forward to everyone's smiling faces. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a care home in the area.

Rheola care home is truly a welcoming, caring and safe place for my father to grow old gracefully and safely. The Staff are really kind and loving to the patients right from the wonderful management team to the amazing team of carers. The food is of a high standard as is the hygiene. The activities
make sure that all patients are never bored. As a family, we are 100% happy with the love and care that my dad receives and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

My mother has recently moved into the care home. She has settled in very well. Up until she went to Rheola, she had resisted the idea of going into care. However, the constant falls in her own home meant that we had to look at alternatives. I am thrilled to say she is happy to stay at Rheola as the

We were greeted by a very courteous porter on our recent visit to my husband's sister. I was impressed with the clean smelling air as we walked to see our relative whose room was airy and pleasant. We had lunch with my sister-in-law and I noticed she ate everything on her plate (although the portion
for me was too big!). The residents seemed to be relaxed.

My sister has been in Rheola for over two years and I and the rest of the family are very pleased with the overall care she has been given over this period. She is not particularly happy being in a residential home but in view of her mobility and eyesight problems, it would be impossible for her to

My mother lived in Rheola for 8 years and during that time was always treated with care and respect. She was well looked after and given personal care and attention from all the members of staff. Any problems, whether health or personal, were dealt with professionally and we were kept informed when
necessary and our advice sought. She was nursed to the end of her life, aged 95, with support, kindness and compassion which we very much appreciated.

My father went to Rheloa for respite care. When my wife and I could no longer cope. He suffered from heart disease, COPD and vascular dementia. He was treated with care, kindness and dignity until his heart finally gave up. We were impressed that health visitors and social workers who visited us all
said that if they needed care Rheloa is where they would like to live.
