My mother-in-law was looked after for two years in the Woodlands. She had Alzheimer's. She enjoyed being there, she felt part of a family!
As a large family, generally, there was someone to visit her at some point each day. It didn't matter when we arrived, you could see and hear the staff being respectful
and caring towards whoever they were dealing with. Their patience too was a joy to behold!
When it became apparent that she was deteriorating, we were allowed to be there 24/7. The staff made sure to keep us topped up with drinks and biscuits and would reassure the whole family.
2 staff deserve commendation medals, the lady who helped with feeding, cleaning and lots more, plus the under manager. To walk in and find him talking gently to her, cutting her nails gave us confidence. And then the manager, how she gave us the time and space to say our goodbyes, cry and start our grieving was amazing. Please give everyone here a reward.
Thank you.

My Dad moved to The Woodlands on Easter Monday 2021. He had been struggling to settle in the care home that he was in and was immediately made welcome and greeted like royalty when he arrived. Dad was at the end stages of Parkinson's disease and associated conditions. The bond he had with the staff
and especially one member of staff, was beautiful to watch. He wasn't the easiest resident but was always treated with respect, compassion and genuine consideration. Living in the village, I visited often and was always made to feel welcome and included, nothing was too much trouble. Dad sadly passed away in February of this year but I hold some very special memories from Dad's time at The Woodlands which I will treasure forever. It genuinely felt like a home to the point that I miss my visits. Eternally grateful to all at The Woodlands.

After nearly 3 years of care at the Woodlands, my mother passed away recently. I have to say that her care in that time was exceptional, she loved the food and was made to feel like part of the family by the staff. As a family, we have fond memories of the time she was there. The manager treats all
the residents like her own family. When the time came for our mum to leave us, we were allowed to grieve as we would have done if she was in her own home, nothing was too much trouble and our mum passed with great dignity and her family around her. After the awful year with Covid, we cannot thank them enough for their care and support.

My mother loved the staff and the home-cooked food every day. One of her joys there was to sit in the sun lounge or garden and watch the wildlife and boats on the river. I visited her often and was always made most welcome, and Mum’s parting words usually were ‘don’t worry about me here, the people
are nice, the food is nice and just look at the view!’ She lived at the Woodlands for three and a half years, where she was encouraged to practise her love of floral art, making table arrangements for the dining room etc.
Recently her health had deteriorated and her end of life care was compassionate and complete. We were welcome to be with her and the staff never left her on her own. I could not fault the loving care they gave her in her final days.
For all the time mother was there I always saw kindness from the staff even if someone was being difficult, everyone was valued and treated with respect. The fact we saw the same staff over this period was indicative of the happy atmosphere there.

My sister has been in The Woodlands for 2 and a half years. Through stages of dementia, the care has been exemplary in all aspects, including day to day care and involvement in activities and engagement.

Time is spent on a one to one basis, getting to know her, as well as her family.

The unit

manager is excellent, the activities team is fantastic - the best we have experienced in our (albeit limited) involvement with care homes. We could not have chosen better.

I find no fault in the care of my husband since he became a resident at The Woodlands. The staff are fully aware of where each of the residents is and what they are doing. They are always happy and ready to give advice and understanding to a resident's family. Because of the staff, accommodation and
amenities, my husband has really settled in and is happy to stay there. Me and my family want to thank everyone at The Woodlands for their efforts with my husband and for giving us a peace of mind.

My husband has been in a unit for dementia patients for two years.
The residents are allowed to move throughout the unit with no restrictions.
Always checked hourly.
I have never heard the word "no" from any carer to resident.
I visit daily and am always welcome to do so at any time.

Current Review Score: 8.0 (8.012)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.0 (8.012) out of 10 for The Woodlands is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.2 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.833 for The Woodlands is calculated as follows: ( (10 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 4.833

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.179 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Woodlands is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 28 registered maximum number of service users is 5.6. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 5.6 = 0.179

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
