My son tells me and his family how happy he is living here, he appears settled and content. I appreciate the opportunities that have been arranged for him to attend the industrial hub and city college, giving his days purpose and interest. I feel that I have really good relationships with the staff
team and they have been very supportive throughout his recent illness. I feel that he receives help and guidance when needed with everyday tasks. He enjoys a very good variety of meals and enjoys telling me enthusiastically about the coming week's menu! I am very satisfied with the care and support my son receives.

My sister seems to have had a good year and been well supported. Her mental health seems to have stabilised during this last year. She is going out a lot more and this is obviously helping her. She seems happier and now has a great interest in gardening and also the pets. It's very nice to see her enjoying
her life and being independent, thank you to all the staff.

My house is lovely and the staff are so brilliant and I have lived in the same house for twenty-seven years and I would not move for the world. The staff are great, they keep us safe. I have turned my life around with the help and encouragement from the staff. I look on them all as my family.

My brother is well cared for. He is very happy there. He has moved to a downstairs bedroom for ease, so he does not have to use stairlifts any more. He is constantly being checked on by staff. He is taken out every day for a ride in his care. Staff are all friendly and helpful.

My daughter is very happy here. She gets on well with all the staff. She has one to one with one of the staff once a week.
The staff know her well and sort out any worry she has. She has to do house duty, planning meals, cooking, cleaning and shopping.
She is very good with the other residents and
helps them out if she can. My daughter needs the protection which the care home give her, she'd be lost without it.

Our daughter has lived at David's Close for 5 and a half years, during this time we have always had complete confidence in the ability of the manager and her staff. They consistently deliver an appropriate varied programme and manage my daughter's very complex needs with skill and professionalism. The
staff are always courteous very motivated and appear to have appropriate training and understanding. Communication is very good, we are always made welcome and involved.

My daughter has been staying at David's Close for a number of years and is very well cared for by excellent staff who go out of their way to help her. She is happy there. She has a very nice bedroom with all the facilities she needs. She goes to a centre three times a week and goes out with her parents
and carer once a week for a meal which she enjoys. I am grateful for the excellent care she receives and the time and effort the staff put in thanks top everyone.

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.650)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.650) out of 10 for Alan Atchison Residential Services - Augusta Close is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.750 for Alan Atchison Residential Services - Augusta Close is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (27 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.75

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Alan Atchison Residential Services - Augusta Close is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 9 registered maximum number of service users is 1.8, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
