A very cosy and homely place to live, friendly staff etc...
Good activities. The food is like homecooked meals with varied menus, rooms are clean and can be personalised with own items.

Visiting my mother from Australia I have found mother well cared for and entertained over the last 5 weeks.
She is being well cared for and taken out frequently.
I phoned often from Australia and she is well and contented.

Very happy with the level of care mum received. The staff are friendly and compassionate and treated her with dignity. It gave me peace of mind to know she was safe and being properly cared for and would highly recommend Lavender House to anyone.

The staff are hard working and kind. I especially like the fact that there are many activities for the residents to get involved in and the activities co-ordinator cares for the residents.

I am very happy that my grandma is in this home.

My father has been in L.H. for two months now.
He has settled very well. He feels safe, well looked after and he really likes the food.
I have found all the staff to be helpful and caring. They go out of their way to ensure Dad has everything he needs and always with a kind word and a smile.

All staff from kitchen, cleaners, maintenance staff to carers are so friendly. Management keeps me fully informed of all aspects of my aunt's care. Have dropped in at random times and the welcome is always warm. My aunt, at 89 years of age, lived independently, is mentally fit but physically frail and
had carers 4 times a day, but, although I visited for 30 mins a day, she was extremely lonely. At Lavender, she has company when she wants, has made new friends and I am confident she is well looked after and attended to.
Staff are quick to react to any medical worries, calling doctors when necessary. Aunt did have a fall, of her own doing and paramedics and ambulance quickly attended and I was informed straight away. At home, she may have been laid there for hours. I have peace of mind that my aunt is receiving good care and my aunt feels reassured that staff are available 24 hours a day, she has company, enjoys lovely meals and is treated with dignity and respect.

My Dad was diagnosed with Lewin body's dementia in 2012 and for some time me and my sisters looked after him at home. As time passed we noticed that Dad's dementia had got worse and that we could no longer look after him.
After many months of looking for a care home in April 2014 dad moved into Lavender
House where he started the next chapter of his life. Within a couple of weeks of Dad moving into Lavender House, we noticed a big change in his behaviour. He seemed more confident happier and content. And although my father's English was not the best the staff looked after his every need.
Over time dad's dementia worsened and it was sometimes difficult to recognise the person we once knew and loved. On the 1st February 2017, Dad passed away and we are still coming to terms with his death.
During dad's time at Lavender House, he was always treated with the utmost care and respect. Lavender House was his home where he was safe and part of a big family that looked after each other.

My Mother came into Lavender House in Jan 2017, we as a family were a little unsure about care homes but we knew this was the best place for our mum to be. From the minute we arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome and within an hour almost every member of staff introduced themselves to our mum
and us. First impressions certainly do make a HUGE difference!!
Although she has only been in there for just over the month they have made her feel at home and seeing to her every need.
So far so good with Lavender House and their staff, our mum has improved day by day, peace of mind for us and happiness for our mum, what more do you need :-)

My mother was resident in Lavender House for four and a half years until her death in late May 2016. During this time whilst suffering from dementia she was treated with the utmost care and respectful consideration. I cannot thank the staff at Lavender House enough for the way they cared for my mother.

Current Review Score: 7.9 (7.889)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 7.9 (7.889) out of 10 for Lavender House Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.750 for Lavender House Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (9 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 4.75

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.139 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Lavender House Care Home is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 36 registered maximum number of service users is 7.2. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 7.2 = 0.139

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
