During the week prior to my father's passing, all staff and management showed great care and compassion both to my father and the whole family. We were notified constantly of changes to dads condition. When visiting daily, the staff considered our needs by providing meals throughout. On one occasion
when no family member was able to be present at night, a member of staff sat in with dad. At dad's passing, the management team notified all agencies and made arrangements in a sensitive way. Wonderful.

My Grandad has been at Alexander Court for around six months after his dementia worsened and it was too much of a worry for him to be home alone. I have nothing but praise for the care and patience all the staff here show towards him, watching how they interact with all residents, is like watching
them with a member of their own family, so much kindness. Grandad is always clean and tidy, he is well fed, and it is no longer a worry to leave him as it was when he lived alone, as we know he will always have people nearby to keep him from harm, have a chat and keep him from being lonely. There is a real welcoming family feel to the home from the management to the cleaners, nurses and catering staff. There are lots of opportunities for the family to go along and join in at Christmas and Easter as well as birthday celebrations and music for the residents. For however long he will be at Alexander Court we know his time will be made as happy and as comfortable as possible by the kind staff.

14 short weeks ago my stepbrother and I took my step-father along to Alexander Court due to his worsening dementia. It was a step in to the unknown for all the family, mum was tired and struggling to cope with his behaviour and desperately needed a rest, although still desperate not to give up on him.
My step-father settled in with the help and support of the carers and staff at the home.
There were ups and downs with his behaviour as things progressed but these were dealt with patiently and daily updates from staff reassured us tremendously. At every visit mum met the manager and staff had time to talk and reassure mum. Sadly very quickly my step fathers health deteriorated, but the care continued at the highest level until the awful day came very recently that he passed away peacefully. Although he has passed the care continues from the manager and all the staff we came into contact with during the 14 weeks. This is truly the most caring of care homes and is to be highly recommended.

Current Review Score: 9.5 (9.524)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.5 (9.524) out of 10 for Alexander Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.667 for Alexander Court is calculated as follows: ( (72 Excellents x 5) + (31 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 105 Ratings = 4.667

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.857 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Alexander Court is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 47 registered maximum number of service users is 9.4. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 9.4 = 0.957

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Care Home Manager

We strive to provide care of the highest quality for the elderly on a permanent or respite basis, in lovely comfortable surroundings. Our team of experienced professionals constantly undergo training to provide outstanding care and support to all residents.

Our philosophy is simple; we want everyone to enjoy life to the fullest. We never forget that all our residents are individuals and we treat them with dignity, privacy and respect while offering freedom of choice and as much independence as possible.

Friends and family are welcome at any time. Hot drinks and snacks are always available and guests are invited to share a meal with residents. Our cook prepares three nutritious meals a day and the menu changes regularly to reflect seasonal produce. Special diets are catered for.
Residents have the freedom to choose what to do and when. There is plenty going and our activities coordinator puts together a full programme which is adapted to suit the needs and wishes of our residents. Activities include quizzes, sing-alongs, reminiscence therapy, indoor games, arts and crafts, baking and wherever possible, trips out and about.

I’d love to show you around the home. So if you should like a tour, or wish to discuss any aspect of elderly care with me, please telephone the home to make an appointment.
