Beauchamp House is a residential care home in Chedgrave, South Norfolk that aims to provide residents with a friendly living environment, with the added benefit of having a professional team of staff on hand to help and advise on their individual needs.

All residents are allocated a key-worker who is responsible for agreeing a personal care plan. This plan is regularly reviewed with residents and their family. Residents are encouraged to make as many choices as possible about their interests and activities and staff always try to provide or facilitate activities that promote a high quality of life.

A dedicated area of the home has recently opened which provides specialist care for people living with dementia. It contains bedrooms, a kitchen and dining area, a communal living room, assisted bathroom and separate toilets.

My Mum went into Beauchamp House in 2009. Beauchamp House has the most wonderful caring staff that any home could have. Recently my Mum, due to her age, became ill at 91. She had seven great carers at the home and was looked after until the end. If all care homes were like Beauchamp, families would
never have to worry about their loved ones.

Beauchamp House provides an excellent environment for older people and in my Father's case, someone with a degree of dementia and physical frailty.
The staff were extremely caring people, mostly local, so could share local experience with the Residents. The dementia unit (Dragonfly) was for max 7 people,
and had plenty of living space for the residents to spend their time. This also provided sufficient space for a reasonable degree of privacy when making family visits. The personal room was sized with sufficient space if the resident wished to spend time sitting in their room as well. They are encouraged to make the rooms their own with some personal effects such as pictures and ornaments. The home was run well, and such incidentals as hair care, chiropody, and daily papers were all organised for each resident. My Father was as happy as he could be in a care home situation, and we very much thank the staff for providing for this.

I always found the care provided really good. The staff were so warm and caring. It was always kept clean. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I felt confident my grandmother was in good hands.

My stepmother had been settling into residential care. She was no longer able to be managed at home, after her most recent prolonged hospital admission, 7 months with bi polar syndrome (36 year history). The staff could not have tried harder to accommodate this 86 year old, who was in physical decline
and not behaviourally typical of a dementia patient. They endeared themselves to our whole family, in the 3 weeks before she died unexpectedly on 26/4. My 92 year old father is so pleased his wife was in their care and relaxed with them.

I didn't expect to be here. I have enjoyed it so much. The carers are here to help at any time of day and night. I have enjoyed the meals. I would come again if I needed to. The staff are always very helpful and willing.

All staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Team leaders were very very good at communication which made things run much smoother than I imagined. The home itself was very well equipped with all mod cons. Also kept very clean and tidy. A good varied menu each day was offered
and staff were very responsive to issues. All in all a very well run and kept home.

I am the daughter of a resident who has had several stays with this care home. She has always enjoyed her stay and not wanted to leave. She comes home reluctantly, clean and with her hair looking lovely. She says nothing is too much trouble for the staff and that it all flows smoothly. She is always
looking good when she leaves and I as her carer feel good every time I leave her there.

This is mum's second care home. The first one was terrible compared to Beauchamps. Here, in her own world, she feels cared for, fed well, looked after and most importantly, safe!
She says she enjoys being here and that is a lovely feeling (as her son). We don't worry about her any more. She says she
eats well and sleeps well. All her family would like to send all the thanks to all the staff for their wonderful care.

My mum was a resident at Beauchamp House for 10 months, all that time she was very happy, and the care she had was excellent in every way. We didn't every find anything we were not happy with, it has top marks from us as her family, and when she passed over. The care we had as her family was tops as
well, cannot speak too highly of Beauchamp House.

I have worked in care for 20 years, rising from the role of care assistant to my current role as manager of Beauchamp House. I have a passion for person centred dementia care, and enjoy talking to our residents, who all have great stories to tell. I enjoy meeting with people to help them when they move into our home, helping them with becoming part of our community, forming new friendships and generally settling in to living with us – there really is no greater achievement.
