Bilney Hall offers a splendid environment for gracious living. The Hall dates back to the 19th century yet its luxurious facilities are very much 21st century. Generous single rooms, all with en-suite facilities, are tastefully decorated and provide residents with the necessary facilities for a quality life in later years. The Home provides residential care for frail elderly residents and has separate wings for those with dementia. Although all rooms are fully furnished, staff encourage residents to bring with them items of furniture and personal possessions so that their room can be a true home from home.

Bilney Hall is situated in the picturesque village of East Bilney, just a few miles from the market towns of Dereham and Fakenham. Set in six acres of extensive grounds, residents can relax in the stunning walled garden and wooded parkland which surround the home allowing them to really enjoy this haven within the beautiful Norfolk countryside.

Care staff are trained to the highest standards, using an internal training programme, and chosen not only for their skills but also for their warmth, friendliness and caring attitude. They are on hand around the clock to provide professional care that respects the rights and dignity of the individual. The emphasis placed on high quality staff was recently rewarded when the company received ‘Investor in People’ accreditation.

They regularly assess each resident so that they can be sure their needs are met and supply specialised equipment if required. An optician, dentist, and chiropodist visit by appointment, and the in-house hairdressing salon provides all the usual services plus manicures and hand massages. The catering staff provides delicious meals and snacks throughout the day, as well as special dishes for those with particular dietary requirements.

My brother moved into Bilney Hall in June 2014. He had been diagnosed with vascular dementia and was physically unsteady on his legs. The staff at Bilney Hall led by the manager, made him very welcome. His room has some of his furniture and pictures and he tells everyone that he has the best room in
this house! My brother is not suitable or the most easy person but the staff are very professional and he is beautiful cared for. His room is always immaculate. On the odd occasion when he has been unwell, I have been promptly informed and kept up to date on his condition. Medical attention is sought if necessary. The food is good but he dislikes having his evening meal at 17.00! I would not hesitate in recommending Bilney Hall.

My mother has been an 'Old Hall' (non-dementia) resident here for 6 yrs. She and I have been very happy with the comfortable and friendly environment and staff, and the care provided during that time.
Any problems, mainly minor, have been tackled sympathetically, promptly and efficiently by management
and solutions actioned by staff in their various departments. The current manager has improved most areas significantly since starting her appointment and the extensive and varied activities programme is a great boost to the residents' lives in residential care and, I feel, also to their contentedness and wellbeing while spending their later years in a different environment.

My dad has vascular dementia and was adamant that he would not go into care unfortunately that option was taken out of his hands and after two weeks in hospital and twelve weeks in temporary care Bilney Hall was recommended to me.he has now been living there since February this year and I cannot praise
the home enough, nothing is to much trouble for the staff they always ring me if dad is not to well, they are kind and caring to him, this has given me peace of mind because I know he is safe and well cared for.

As a small family, we were devastated when we realised that my Mother in law needed full time care due to her deterioration in health due to suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's. Going to view homes was a terrifying ordeal as we knew nothing but thankfully, luck was on our side and we found Bilney!
Upon walking through the doors, my Mother in law felt wanted and at home. This was nearly 5 years ago and the feel and quality of care hasn't changed.


All the staff take time and effort with the residents, whether they are carers, domestics or from the kitchen and that includes families too. Always well informed of any changes in care and any planned events. Care staff are polite and courteous, even at difficult times. The bedrooms are spacious and we were encouraged to bring in familiar items and photos to help make the move smoother, and they also have en-suit toilets too. Large dining rooms give a hint of what Bilney used to be. The Manager is always approachable and should be proud of such hard working and supportive care staff. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this care home and would suggest people go and chat to the people who live their as well as work there. Well done Bilney!

I am sure that selecting a Care Home for a close relative, in our case my 93 year old mother, is both a difficult and emotional event. My mother had to go into care in March this year after spending 8 weeks in hospital; until this time she had continued to live on her own with daily care attendance.
She was adamant that she did not want this course of action but regrettably there were no other options. We visited and considered a number of homes in Norwich before finally visiting East Bilney Hall where we were immediately impressed by the facilities and caring nature of the staff; inevitably we considered the CQC report which put some doubts in our mind but we went with our instincts.


Mother finally died last week but during the 6 months she was there she received exemplary care and attention which far exceeded our expectations in view of the CQC report which was a testament to the Management and Staff. When the inevitable finally happened she was treated with care and total dignity. We would have no hesitation in recommending this Care Home to anybody.

Bilney Hall looked after my father for 2.5 years before his death in October 2015. I cannot sing their praises high enough! The staff were all caring, loving and professional helping my father's last years to be happy and contented. The whole atmosphere of the Hall is lovely.
