Wonderful caring staff. I am always happy to see my husband go here for respite care as he is so well looked after. The accommodation is good although this time there were problems with the Closomat toilet but apart from that this care home is exceptional in the professional care provided. Everyone
is always smiling and friendly and nothing is too much trouble for any member of staff.

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.395) out of 10 for Bishop Herbert House is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.895 for Bishop Herbert House is calculated as follows: ( (52 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 57 Ratings = 4.895

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.5 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bishop Herbert House is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 14 registered maximum number of service users is 2.8, which has been reached with 5 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hello, I'm Jasmine, the Care Home Manager at Bishop Herbert House. With 17 years of experience in the care industry, I am dedicated to providing a safe, homely and supportive environment for our long-term and respite residents.

My journey in the care sector began 17 years ago as a Care Coordinator for a social care agency. In this role, I quickly realised the importance of first-hand care experience in understanding and meeting the needs of residents. This realisation motivated me to gain direct care experience, and I transitioned to roles where I could engage more closely with residents.

I hold a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care. I've spent the last 10 years working at Bishop Herbert House, where I have developed a deep understanding of physical disability and sensory impairment.

My approach is centred around person-centred care. I believe in treating each resident as an individual with unique needs, preferences, and life stories. My Team and I strive to create a homely atmosphere where everyone feels valued.

Hello, my name is Mia. I am the Care Lead at Bishop Herbert House, with over five years of experience in the care sector and a level three diploma in Leadership for Adult Health and Social Care, I am deeply passionate about fostering independence and creating a "with, not for" culture at Bishop Herbert House. My approach centres on ensuring that every resident receives person-centred care tailored to their unique needs, preferences, and aspirations.

I have extensive experience in developing in-depth, person-centred care plans, which form the foundation for delivering truly individualised support. As a Care Lead, I also coach and mentor my team to uphold the same high standards, empowering them to prioritize dignity, respect, and autonomy in all aspects of their care.

For me, care is not just about meeting needs—it’s about enriching lives and supporting residents to achieve their fullest potential in a warm and inclusive environment.
