My grandfather and grandmother are long-term residents at Cranmer House. From the very start they have been treated with exceptional care and attention by the staff and managers, who have often gone beyond what is expected, for example by helping mark important occasions such as birthdays and wedding
anniversaries.
During the current coronavirus pandemic, we have been able to keep in contact via phone and Skype calls (my mother has been able to visit in person) and I have felt comforted and reassured that my grandparents are being kept as safe as possible.

Spent 10 days at Cranmer House for respite care to give my wife a rest. I am a Parkinson's sufferer needing 24-hour supervision. Excellent care, but most residents spent 90% of the day in a wheelchair. No exercises or help with mobility. In an ideal world, they should have physio and occupational therapy
but this would cost money.

A short first stay but found the staff and managers to be very helpful and plenty of them.
Generally, prefer the room to be on the ground floor because of the wheelchair, but everything seemed to work well. Good recliner chair.
No shower in the room and did not have a shower every day but this is
not a big problem.
Unable to turn the TV on and off with the remote but could change channels so again not a major problem.

We have nothing but praise for Cranmer House Care Home. Mum was treated with dignity and respect and was very happy during her 6 weeks stay. The staff were so friendly and made her 100th birthday whilst she was there a very enjoyable occasion.

My father went to Cranmer House for short-term care. He absolutely loved it. The staff were so kind, caring and helpful. He made friends and joined in activities with permanent residents. He was heartbroken when he had to leave. If only there were more full-time residential vacancies so that I did not
have to move him as he would have loved to stay.

My mum and dad are both long term residents in Cranmer House and are very happy there. Nothing is too much trouble and everyone, management, admin, carers, kitchen staff and cleaners are all so kind taking time to talk to them and treat them, and me like family.


We had looked at lots of places before

being lucky enough for them to be offered long-term care here and I can honestly say this is the best. The whole place is spotlessly clean and fresh. Mum and Dad both have lovely rooms with spacious ensuite toilet and and wash basin. There are some very nice comfortable day rooms and the dining room is large, open and airy. The food is excellent and every need is catered for. An Activities Co-ordinator has been appointed and is doing a great job in coming up ideas with input from residents.


Very important to me is that If I have any concerns I know I can speak to someone at any time and they will listen. I cannot recommend Cranmer House highly enough!

I was made very welcome when I arrived from hospital. Wonderfully looked after during the day and night. Told off quite rightly for using my left arm and also walking too fast with my quad stick. It was nice to eat in the dining room for lunch and make friends. I was there for nearly four weeks and
helped a lot all of the time.

Kirsty Sleightholme

Joined: 2004

I have worked in the care sector for many years, initially completing my nurse training at the West Suffolk Hospital. I have worked both within hospital and care home settings, each bringing their own experiences. My passion purely and simply is people, particularly giving support to those needing it most and when experiencing real difficulty in their lives.


I have worked at Cranmer House for over 20 years and feel very proud of the whole team’s achievements and our reputation within the local community. I very much enjoy being part of an innovative and forward thinking company, whose values we all aspire to.
