Making a decision for your loved one is a difficult task especially when Residential Care sometimes receives adverse publicity. Cresta Lodge is owned and managed by a local family who live in South Norfolk. The company pride themselves in always looking to improve the service they offer and making sure the Resident comes first in whatever they do. The family is involved on a daily basis with each home supporting the Managers to ensure an ‘excellent’ service is maintained to all Residents.

Cresta Lodge is situated just a few miles south of Norwich in the village of Poringland surrounded by beautiful gardens, Cresta is a home for elderly people with the early stages of Dementia.

The company are proud of the homes they offer, careful to make sure they feel like a home rather than a hotel, using good quality furnishings and making sure they are well maintained inside and out.

Long standing manager, is supported by a well trained team of staff who proudly deliver person centred care, daily activities, and lovely traditional home cooked food.

Cresta Lodge provides both long and short term care

Our mother has settled well in Cresta Lodge. The management and staff are very professional, caring and treat our mother with respect. Her room is tastefully decorated. The food provided is wholesome and drinks are continuously provided. There is a very happy atmosphere and many laughs between staff
and resident. The home facilitates a hairdresser, chiropodist, dentist when required and optician. There is also a service for hymns and prayers. Mothers GP visits the home weekly and families can visit whenever they wish, the car parking is good. The grounds are well laid out with shrubs, trees and when the weather permits, the residents can sit outside. The home is secure. Since our mother came to live at Cresta Lodge her health, well-being and speech has improved, her mobility is much improved. There are activities which residents can join in with and games are played regularly. The staff work as a team that much is evident. A real homely environment.

My wife has been a resident in Cresta Lodge since January 2016. The Lodge is always immaculately clean and always smells fresh. The staff are wonderful. They not only care for the residents/ they actually show love for them. The food is excellent and the rooms are kept so very clean and tidy. The residents
are always encouraged to take part in activities and there is a wide variety of entertainment available. It is without a doubt the best care home I have ever seen, and I have visited many. All in all, it is a first class in all respects.

We are very happy that we chose Cresta Lodge for our relative, not just because dementia care was provided but because we are impressed with the quality of care provided. The management is excellent and the staff work as a team to create a safe and caring environment. They are all professional and at
the same time, very friendly and supportive. Cresta Lodge is a small and homely care home. The standard of accommodation is appropriate for the residents and there appears to be an on going refurbishment programme. Many activities are offered, doctors visit regularly and we feel reassured our relative is safe and secure.

My uncle has been at Cresta Lodge for over 3 years now. If my uncle has any problems or needs I am contacted straight-away and the staff always offer support and assistance when decisions of his care need to be determined. Staff are so lovely to the residents - strong and supportive in difficult circumstances
but always kind.
The place itself is homely and warm and very well furbished. I have no hesitation in recommending Cresta to families looking for a safe, happy home for their loves ones.

Building is clean, well kept. I have never experienced any odours whilst visiting my mother. The staff are superb. They are caring and careful, always pleasant and do their best to make you feel welcome and part of the family. Despite my mother having advanced dementia, I have only seem excellent and
respectful care from them all.

Cresta Lodge is a beautifully run care home. Our first impressions were very favourable as this home does not have the unpleasant smell so prevalent at other homes we considered. The Manager and her team deliver excellent care in a very friendly yet professional manner. My Mum lived there for just over
2 years until her death in November 2015 at the age of 92 (almost 93!). Mum always felt very safe and well cared for. Mum sometimes complained about the food - pieces too large, not cooked enough, cooked too much etc etc. However, the Manager and her team did their very best to accommodate Mum's ever changing requirements. They were always very cheerful about such things.
Family members are free to visit at any time - always a good sign of nothing to hide.
The staff just cannot do enough for you or their resident.
The care Mum received was excellent throughout and especially as her life was coming to an end.
Mum didn't take part in many of the recreational activities though many varied things are on offer, including a number of outings each year. She was encouraged to take part but not pressured to do so.
The only other thing I'd say is this web site currently displays a rather out of date weekly charges guide. My Mum was in a single en-suite room which cost £676 per week.
Perhaps an example of "you get what you pay for". In this case excellent service and peace of mind that your relative is being well cared for.

Although quite expensive Cresta Lodge has a great atmosphere. The staff are extremely caring and the manager and assistant manager do a great job. I have to say a care home has to have great staff which Cresta Lodge has!

Current Review Score: 9.4 (9.379)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.4 (9.379) out of 10 for Cresta Lodge is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.679 for Cresta Lodge is calculated as follows: ( (59 Excellents x 5) + (23 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.679

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Cresta Lodge is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
