My father has been a resident for seven months and his general health and well-being have improved a great deal.
At his recent 98th birthday the staff went above and beyond expectations.

A friendly, caring and professional home. The carers were fantastic with our father. They were thoughtful, followed his wishes and supported him during his respite care. Nothing was too much for the carers to ensure Dad had a great visit. He loved the food and was very happy. It meant that we were able
to enjoy a family wedding knowing he was in safe hands. He would readily return as he felt cared for and safe.

I am very pleased that, after a long search, we chose Cromwell House for the care of my 91-year-old mother. The management and staff of this care home go above and beyond what would normally be expected to provide exemplary levels of care.
My mother really enjoys her time here too and tries to join
in with many of the activities. We have seen a marked improvement in her overall health and ability over the eighteen months she has been here, most of which we put down to the care and attention she receives from the friendly and professional staff.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this excellent facility and would like to thank the excellent staff for their commitment and dedication to providing fantastic care to both my mother and all the other residents.

When Mum arrived at the care home, she was very poorly indeed. I was happy with the care she received. She slept most of the time and was not eating very much. She didn't really know where she was. She got treated very well with patients and care. She was very scared when she woke up, and she didn't
know where she was. The activities coordinator was very patient. Over time she now calls Cromwell House home.

My mother has been a resident in Cromwell House since March 2019. She suffered from depression for many years after my father's decline with dementia and subsequent death, and refused to engage with anyone except immediate family, despite frequent visits when she lived in the same village as us. When
it became clear that she was no longer able to live alone, we were very glad to find Cromwell. For the first few months, she continued withdrawn and uncommunicative. However, gradually things improved, partly because her increasing short-term memory loss meant that she forgot to be miserable (!) and mainly due to the patience and kindness of the staff. She is now eating and sleeping well, and while she is still quiet, she is often to be found joining in with activities. The Cromwell House staff are responsive and supportive, and I cannot thank them enough for bringing Mum to a place of comfort and acceptance. I have complete confidence in their care, integrity and understanding. Thank you.

My mother has recently moved from Cromwell House Care Home to another care home to make it easier for us to visit as we live in London and Surrey. Mum has given me her comments to include in this review.
She said it's a happy place and this includes the management, the care staff and residents. 'They
made me so welcome' she says. She enjoyed the food, especially the homemade cakes - orange cake, lemon drizzle cake, chocolate brownies and more.
Care staff were warm, listened and took time to spend with her when she was in her room. Staff, including the chaplain, were very good to her and she appreciated their reassurance when she had hurt her arm.
She also enjoyed socialising, the activities and all the special efforts that were made to make the home feel festive at Christmas.
As a relative, I appreciated the responsiveness of the office staff. Mum only stayed three months but has happy memories of Cromwell House and misses lots of people there she got to know.

I have always wanted to come to Cromwell House; when I needed more care, and I have been here for a year now. I was fortunate in that one of the larger rooms were available; I know some rooms are quite small. I have settled in very well, in spite of all the problems caused by Covid-19, and I am full
of praise for the staff. As well as efficient daily routines, we still have a lot of activities, as well as highly organised social occasions such as residents 100th birthday celebrations, fireworks night, etc. I always enjoy meals, although I find "tea", the evening light meal too early at five o'clock, after a very good lunch. So I have a modified version in my room at seven o'clock. An example of how any preferences are catered for. When I moved in, I had to isolate for two weeks, and my family couldn't come in and help. But I survived with lots of help from the carers and have just enjoyed my 96th birthday celebration, making up for my 95th in isolation.

We selected Cromwell House Care Home for Mum as the best local care home to provide the 24/7 care she needed after a series of medical issues made it impossible to provide this securely and reliably at home. Their Christian links and ethos meant that they could cater for Mum's spiritual as well as her
physical and emotional care needs. Our assessment has been borne out in all our contacts with staff members who have all been unfailingly courteous, caring, helpful and positive - all key qualities when helping residents settle in after a lifetime of living at home. Mum is still adjusting, but our family are more convinced by her and our experience of Cromwell House that she is in the best place to get the care she needs.

Cromwell House Care Home is a shining example of what a care home can and should be!
I am amazed at the level of care, understanding, kindness and patience the staff have with my parents, and the time they give me to answer all my questions when I visit. Yes, I am very fortunate to now have both my
parents living very happily at Cromwell House. At every visit, I see nothing but smiles from staff and my parents. It is a very happy place to live.
The level of care is demonstrated even more visibly in their improved physical and mental health. It is such a joy to see my parents so alive again. Thank you to everybody connected with their care.

This is a very nice home. As with all places, there are 'fors' and 'againsts' but I think there are more 'fors' than 'againsts'. The staff are kind, very open to suggestions for things they want and want to do. Personally, I find the fees very high and I sold my house and the money is nearly all gone,
but thank you for the provision of this home.

On the whole, I think I have managed to explain and understand most members of staff.
I found it very difficult to cope with help from new carers. I still like to be as independent as I can and do those things I can do.
This is sometimes difficult with filling in agency staff when they are new and
I do understand it must be difficult for them, especially if it's their first time here. They tell me to be patient!

I initially contacted Cromwell House with a telephone inquiry regarding respite care for my mother-in-law and my call was received by a friendly and helpful young woman, who went out of her way to help answer all my questions. We experienced that same professional approach when the manager visited Mum’s
home to introduce herself. Her gentle and kind manner and warm sense of humour put both Mum and me at ease. As we chatted it became obvious that care for residents was the priority in this establishment. A well-led team of staff have continued to prove, throughout the two years Mum has lived there, that every resident is treated as an individual with their own particular needs which are accommodated by kind, caring and friendly staff. Relatives and friends when visiting are accorded that same warmth. It’s a pleasure to visit and be greeted by smiling faces.

I live a long way from Norwich and access is difficult for me especially with the Covid pandemic. I am the sole relative and deal with all paperwork and financial matters.
I have had all the support I feel I need from the staff at Cromwell House. My relative has been there for 8 years and has always
been well cared for. He seems very happy and content. Staff do not hesitate to contact me if there is a problem.

Dad is doing remarkably well considering the constraints placed on Cromwell House due to Covid and restrictions on visiting arrangements, which I clearly understand is to protect the residents the team and ourselves. It is wonderful to visit Dad once again briefly indoors, the visits are conducted
by the team at Cromwell House with kindness and great respect to both Dad and myself. When I was able to first visit Dad after the most recent lockdown, he looked remarkably well, a credit to all at Cromwell House, who are always willing to listen and take into account Dad’s individual health and well-being needs. The team demonstrate an enthusiasm conducive towards providing a happy safe home for Dad.
