Harker House care home has been purpose built in the village of Long Stratton to provide residential care to 35 people over 65-years-old. The home includes a special secure unit for residents living with dementia.

Residents are invited to personalise their furnished room which also contains an emergency call bell system, fire alarm system and TV socket.

The home has adapted baths and showers, a payphone (although residents can choose to have a telephone point in their room), a hairdressing room and a secure garden.

The home prides itself on its friendly and welcoming environment and all residents have a key worker who works on the individual’s personal care plan, which is continuously reviewed so residents’ choices, interests and hobbies are all accounted for.

I love my care happy hotel home. My carers are first class, I love them all, they are here for me day and night whenever I need them. If wasn't for my carers I wouldn't be walking and talking and they sorted my water works out for me. The lady of the house and all of them are happy, smiling carers and
that makes me happy. I can go to bed happy and sleep wonderfully.

Over the past four years of my mother being in residence, she has, in my opinion, received excellent support and care. Nothing seems to be too much trouble from the staff and the end of her life was treated with a great deal of kindness and dignity.

My mother lived here for the last four years of her life. She was happy and very well cared for. She was encouraged to do as much as she could, gently and patiently. The staff are excellent: friendly, caring and conscientious. My sister and I were always greeted and made to feel welcome.

I have worked in care since 2007, starting off as a care assistant and progressing into my current position. I have experience of working in various care settings and my last role before joining the team at Harker Houser was as the Manager of a home providing dementia care.


I absolutely love how varied my days are and how rewarding it is to make a difference to residents’ lives by providing good quality, person centred care.
