This lovely care home took my mother at very short notice, at the beginning of October, arranging everything quickly and efficiently. The staff are plentiful and caring, communication is excellent and the food and drinks are plentiful and good. Visitors are welcome anytime, as are phone calls to residents
using the home’s phone.
I had to choose a care home very quickly after a sharp decline in Mum’s dementia and count myself lucky that I chose so well.

Thank you for your kind words. We are very happy Mum has settled in so quickly.

My mum spent nearly four years in Marine Court until she passed away in early October 2023. I cannot fault the care and love she received throughout her stay. The staff were magnificent in every respect. My mum was safe, warm, well fed and extremely well looked after and cared for. Nothing was ever
too much trouble at any time. As Mum approached the end of her life, her dignity was kept remarkably intact. I was always kept up to date with all developments in her condition. The way in which her passing was managed was first class. Thank you to all at Marine Court - you are a credit to your profession.

A very big thank you to Marine Court staff and management. My dear mum passed away in September 2022 and had been a resident of Marine Court for the last five and half years; following a rapid decline in her condition, following a severe chest infection. I am a community nurse of many years (now retired)
and appreciate how difficult it is to find a care home to suit the needs of a family member with memory/frailty problems; Marine Court has always been a place where my mother has been comfortable and happy, even on her days out with the family she has always been happy to return, and never appeared anxious or worried. Marine Court has also always been there for my dad, who has remained at home and has been a daily visitor (apart from Covid Lockdown) he has always felt part of Mum's care.
As the time approached for Mum's end of life care, the staff notified us immediately regarding the changes in Mum's condition, we were all able to be with her and are very grateful for that.

My Mother was a resident for about 4 months I can only say the level of care she was given was superlative. The palliative care she subsequently received was exemplary.
The environment was friendly, open and very comfortable. I always felt very welcome at any time. The staff were very helpful and friendly
at all times and I will always be grateful for the level of care my Mum had in her last months.

My father was diagnosed with vascular dementia and spent a period of weeks at Marine Court before he was hospitalised and had to move to a nursing home rather than residential as his care needs had changed.
I visited him at Marine Court several times and was impressed by the standard of care. In
particular, the staff spent considerable time trying to get to know my father, his likes/dislikes etc., in order to personalise his care.
Marine Court seemed to me to be particularly well run and the staff are attentive and caring. It is clean and comfortable and very light and airy and there was always conversation and activity of some kind.
Selecting the right residential care home for a relative is not a task to be taken lightly, but I would have no hesitation in recommending Marine Court.

Thank you Richard for you kind words, I will definitely pass them on to my team who will also appreciate them. I do wish your father and you all the best.

Our Father did not want to go into a care home but changed his mind and from the way he has settled in at Marine Court we feel that it is a credit to the home. All the staff, from the manager down, have made the effort to make him welcome and feel at home, also when we have visited we have always found
all of the staff to be most helpful. Keep up the good work.

Current Review Score: 8.2 (8.208)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.2 (8.208) out of 10 for Marine Court is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.4 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.833 for Marine Court is calculated as follows: ( (20 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 4.833

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.375 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Marine Court is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 40 registered maximum number of service users is 8. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 8 = 0.25

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
