The Old Rectory is an excellent home; with staff who go above and beyond.
Food is very good, with needs being catered for.
I cannot speak highly enough of their care, especially in these very difficult times.

My mother moved to Old Rectory care home in August 2019 after her previous care home closed unexpectedly.
Having looked around and having spoken to the manager and other members of staff, I immediately felt comfortable and confident that Mum would be happy and well cared for there. Mum has dementia
and her needs are sometimes challenging. However, I know she is always treated with respect and kindness. She thoroughly enjoys her meals which are excellent and also watching and taking part with the activities that are provided especially the singing.

19 months my mother was a resident. She was nearly always happy and smiling. Breast Cancer was identified by the vigilance of the staff very early. She was extremely ill during the latter part of August 2019 and died 6th September. The compassion, empathy, care and support of the staff not only for
my mum but for me was second to none. Such care, such respect. The home, the staff and the management are to be applauded.

My mother has been in the Old Rectory since June 2017. We have found the staff very caring and sympathetic to my mother's needs. I visit the home every day so I can observe what is going on. We feel there are not enough staff at nights and weekends. This should be reviewed immediately. Overall we are

My mother, formerly an independent 92-year-old, sadly became in need of permanent care last year. I would like to express my sincere thanks to the extraordinary staff who made her transition from independence, to care, a seamless experience. Those remarkable staff continue to provide her with flawless
care, never failing to astonish me with their happy persona and willingness to go that extra mile in an environment of many needs. Mum has been treated with dignity, exceptional kindness, respect, and has been integrated into a home in which she feels happy, safe and secure. I remain incredibly impressed by the variety and quality of her meals, the calm, happy atmosphere and the approachability of caring staff and management. As a family, we will be eternally grateful to all those that make her days joyful and our own more reassured.

The care was exceptional. My father was bedridden for 18 months and we could not fault the care given, he was turned every 2 hours without fail (this became every 1 hour at the end of his life). The staff were respectful at all times both to my father and us his family. The new manager has made an already
brilliant care home even better. Without doubt, this was the best place for dad to live his years.

Mother was cared for in the Old Rectory for several months during spring and summer 2017 before she was well enough to return home. We found the management and staff to be excellent and working hard to do their best. Being an older converted property, the facilities and layout make things more difficult
than more modern, purpose-designed premises and there is rather an enclosed feel with some rooms being quite small. However, mother was well treated within the constraints of the building and staff numbers, and still often comments on how well she was looked after by the management and staff while at the Old Rectory.

Mum went into the Old Rectory for respite after the passing of my father to which she was not coping with very well. She was welcomed with open arms and cared for well right up until the day she had to be admitted to hopsital. I found the staff to be caring and helpful, polite and respectful. Thank
you to them all for everything they did for mum in the short time she was at the Old Rectory.

I visit the home on average once a week usually on Sundays. The home is always airy, light and clean. The staff levels appear very thin on Sundays and it's difficult to find anyone to discuss my aunts care and needs.
Management - Why do the managers not last very long at the home? Always mysterious
circumstances arise before they leave!

Old Rectory offers amazing care. My mother has got a new lease of life since being there. She arrived in November 2016. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. The manager is fantastic and her door is always open and she is marvellous with the residents. I have never met anybody so passionate and
I've worked in care for 25 years. She is marvellous.

The staff are really what make the Old Rectory at Acle such a welcoming care home. They are kind and caring, giving respect to all. They bake a cake for residents birthdays and even give them presents. The management and staff always listen to concerns and through my experience there are some staff
that go above and beyond especially when a resident is feeling a little down or vulnerable. They will make sure they take time out to talk to them or do something special. I cannot praise them enough.

My dad has been in the Old Rectory for 2 and a half years. Sadly he passed away in June 2016. The care The Old Rectory gave was over and above fantastic, dad was made so welcome from the start, and dad was a very independent person, which the carers took in their stride.
There have been a few changes
in management and the present manager has really put her heart and soul into The Old Rectory. In dads last months I believe that the carers looked after dad as though he was their dad and I know they really miss him. I can't recommend The Old Rectory too highly.

This home was deteriorating fast, staff and manager turnover was awful (2015) recently appointed manager has turned this home around in a short space of time. Communication has improved, regular staff and key workers have been introduced. The décor is lovely although more to do. The whole atmosphere
has changed for the better and I can now be confident that I have made the right decision for my mum as hard as that me be.

This home has always had a lovely feel about it. The staff are always friendly and the residents well cared for. A few months ago when the new manager took over it went up further in my estimations. Nothing is too much trouble and the cleanliness, care and general feel of the home improvement. I know
my relative is in safe hands and as happy as he can be in the care home environment. The food smells and looks divine. Not the most modern home but perfect in my view.

My ethos as Old Rectory’s Manager:
Being a manager I thrive on the many challenges that occur, as it gives me a great sense of achievement. I believe it is so important to always work as a team. I am so lucky to have such a great team working beside me. I am fair and supportive and will always offer guidance to staff. I love to watch staff achieve and become the best versions of themselves.


I feel it’s also so important to ensure our residents have happiness whilst living at the Old Rectory, by delivering high-quality care and having their involvement on how they would like their home from being involved in decision-making about activities they would like or menus.


I am passionate about residents having choices and being able to make their own decisions relating to their care!


I have a strong team that keeps things running day-to-day but as the care manager, I provide the overall guidance and leadership. I am there to support my care staff in the successful delivery of care to all of our residents.


Biggest achievement in work and/or life:
My biggest achievement is having my first ever CQC inspection and achieving/maintaining a good! (2022).

Jade has worked at the old Rectory for 3 years and has worked previously as a Senior care assistant. She began at the Old rectory as our home administrator and took a position within the home as a Senior care assistant. She has since applied for Deputy manager is and is flourishing in this role. Jade is currently working towards her level 5 diploma in health and social care. Jade continues to thrive for the best and is doing well within her role.
