Broadland View Care Home is an elegant, privately run care home situated on the outskirts of Norwich, overlooking the picturesque Yare Valley.

The home offers a warm and welcoming environment where the experienced team provides care for older people with dementia. Personalised care plans focus on individual needs, interests and choices, and are developed by working closely with residents and their families.

Residents are actively encouraged to stay as independent as possible and have regular opportunities to take part in various events and activities organised by the home’s activities coordinator, aimed at promoting health and wellbeing. Visitors, including families and friends, are always welcome to visit the home.

Broadland View Care Home caters for residents within an attractive period property bordered by two lovely gardens, featuring a fountain, garden pavilion and mature trees. The home is set far back from the road yet remains close to local amenities. Room sizes are more in keeping with those that residents have been accustomed to in their own homes.

The home strives to provide a pleasant, caring and stimulating environment where companionship, security and independence are promoted, and residents’ privacy and dignity are respected at all times.

The priority at Broadland View Care Home is always the residents, and staff do everything they can to ensure that every resident gets the very best care possible. This is achieved by treating every resident as an individual and finding out their different needs, interests and likes.

The home also welcomes regular day care visitors to Broadland View Care Home, where an elderly person with dementia can enjoy the activities, companionship and hospitality that the home has to offer.

My mother has been in Broadland View for over three months now and I cannot fault the caring and dedication shown by the whole staff. Every need is catered for and she only has to ask and she receives immediate attention even in the middle of the night. The manager shows a special interest in every
resident and makes sure they’re happy and secure. She is an exceptionally professional and thoughtful leader. My mother is very happy, as am I and I’m so glad that I chose this care home for her. I rest well knowing that she’s in such good hands. Thank you all.

After a period of respite care, my mother in law did not want to leave. The staff became as it was the extended family of the residents. We do spend a considerable amount of time traveling and it is highly reassuring to know that when we are away she is in excellent company.

Following a number of falls and a spell in hospital, a decision was made to find a care home for mum to meet her needs as it was no longer safe for her to remain at home. We were notified of space at Broadland View and visited that same afternoon. After meeting some of the staff, we decided immediately
that this would be the right place for mum and she moved in shortly afterwards. We have found the staff to be very caring and friendly and nothing is too much for them. There is a great atmosphere and everybody goes about their daily jobs in a professional manner. The home is in a lovely setting and not too big which is great for mum. We have noticed that during her stay there, she is much happier and healthier and I can only thank the staff at the home for what they have done to help her. It's a great place and we're more than happy with how mum is doing there.

Dad has been in a poor way due to deteriorating health, but the care and attention he has received from all the staff has never wavered. We give our heartfelt thanks to all of the staff here; for the care they have given him, but also to his family.

Visiting Broadland View Home is always a pleasure. First always a very warm reception from all members of staff we come across. From the minute you step inside, warm, happy, very clean and atmosphere lovely. FInding residents always cheerful and very content. Always a drink offered along with residents,
lunch if required. Found a lot of attention given to stimulation, with activities arranged. Would have no hesitation in my recommendation of all care and attention seen. My friend is so happy here and very content, always happy, do not want to leave.

From the first day our friend became a resident at Broadland View (November 2019), we have nothing but high praise for the manner and respect shown by the staff to residents and visitors.
The food appears to be very good, but lacking in variety. This could be because of budget restrictions and a lot
of residents may prefer food they are accustomed to.

After the untimely death of her husband (her main carer), a stay in hospital and a period in respite care, I decided it would no longer be safe for my mother (92) to remain living at home and with her agreement she has moved into permanent residential care. After considering several options since November
2019 she has been at Broadland View. From the outset, I have been impressed by the quality of personalised care she has been given, in addition to care to meet all her physical needs I have been particularly impressed by the compassion, kindness and attention the staff have shown in helping my mother to adjust to change at a sad and confusing time in her life. My sisters (who live abroad) and I have peace of mind knowing that our mother is in a safe and secure environment where we know she will have a better quality of life in her remaining years. Broadland View may not have all the facilities of a new purpose-built home, but it offers all that the residents need and what really matters is the quality of the care and in our experience so far that has been first class.

Our mum was here for a year before passing away and always commented on how well she was looked after. The first six months, when Mum was more mobile, she had the best quality to her days that she had had for a long time. When Mum became less mobile, she enjoyed her lovely room and the view from it.
In her last days, not only did all the staff make sure that Mum was comfortable and dignified, but they supplied us with multiple cups of tea and hugs. What more could you ask for?

Mum has been here for three years and has been very happy. She loves the summer fetes and entertainment. The food is excellent and she loves having a chat and a laugh with the staff. A lot of effort is made on the residents' birthdays and personal requirements like hairdressing are catered for too.

On my visits, I have always found the management and staff to be kind and considerate to the residents. All food I have seen looked of a nice standard, well suited to folk of an age. The dining area and lounge are of a good size, very airy and well decorated. Over the times I have visited the management
and staff have given every consideration to those under their charge. Broadland View is better than in all respects than similar size care homes I have visited.

Making the decision regarding our Mother's future was possibly the most difficult decision any of us have had to make. The support and understanding of the manager and her magnificent team made this so much easier for us. Our Mother has generally settled well and is receiving the care, attention and
support we hoped for. Thank you all!

Current Review Score: 9.3 (9.295)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.3 (9.295) out of 10 for Broadland View Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.833 for Broadland View Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (50 Excellents x 5) + (10 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.833

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.462 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Broadland View Care Home is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 26 registered maximum number of service users is 5.2. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 5.2 = 0.962

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
