Amazing care home. This home is run so well by all involved, extremely welcoming for everyone. Could not fault this home. Highly recommend. Clean and safe for the residents, the staff are really nice too, and the management team are second to none.

All the staff are polite and helpful, aware of the dignity and diagnosis of residents. From what I've seen the food and refreshments look nice. The team were very welcoming when my aunt arrived and reassuring, answered all questions. I am very satisfied with my aunt's placement and she has put weight
on and for most of the time is happy but her dementia confuses her.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the staff at the Windmill Care Home.

All staff are understanding and kind very friendly. All staff are very understanding and compassionate with the residents. The home is always clean and tidy. The food is outstanding, fresh and well-prepared and a good variety of choices. Staff always keep up update with events and keep you informed
about the care or any changes of your relative. My relative has been in the windmill for 2 years I have never been disappointed with the care and compassion of all staff over the 2 years.

I cannot fault this care home at all. From my first visit to assess its suitability I have found the staff to be extremely helpful, friendly and caring, making my Father-in-Law welcome instantly on his arrival. Since then they have been amazing, and my father-in-law's health has improved. Nothing is
too much trouble, and the home is kept beautifully clean. The food is top quality too and they keep us up to date with any issues as soon as they happen. Given the mixed nature of residents' conditions, they do very well to put people of similar type together and have activities and entertainment regularly to stimulate the residents. I don't think it could be any better.

I have always found my experiences of visiting Windmill Care Home to be made inviting by all members of staff. The person I visit is always very complimentary about the way he is treated and the way the home is run. With special reference to the food.

There always seems to be plenty of staff available to care for the residents. They are all very kind and caring. The management team also appear to be on the ball. It is evident they know what is going on at any given time. They too are so friendly and approachable. There is a beautiful garden and
the interior is nicely decorated. Perhaps the only downside is the layout, being one way through and back. It would be nice if there was a continuous walk around and back to where you started as some residents may wish to wander.

My husband has now been in your home for ten weeks. I cannot fault anything of the care that you have given him; very considerate and, most of all, kind in the total care you have given him. All the carers are extremely helpful and very thoughtful. It's a very homely care home and I would recommend
it to anyone.

The manager and the team have all been exceptional in the care of my Father. Both literally with his every day (and night) needs and with the broader needs of his care requirements. I can not speak highly enough of the professionalism of all team members and their considerate personal attention they
pay to all their residents. Nothing is too much trouble for them at any time. They are outstanding and should be commended for their total dedication to residents care - well done all.

My mother was a resident from February 2021 until February 2023. She was made to feel it was her home and was well cared for and very happy for the entirety of her residency. She recently passed away at the age of ninety-seven and I was very happy knowing that her last years were comfortable and in
a caring environment.

My uncle arrived at this care home in September from the hospital. When he left the hospital, he could not speak well, refused to eat and was bed bound. So far, in the short while he has been there, he is eating and drinking, walking with the carer's help and trying to do it on his own, so no longer
bedbound. His speech has improved massively and can have a conversation with you. I have no doubt that with the amazing care he is getting, he will continue to improve.
I cannot recommend it enough. I have been informed of his progress every step of the way and if he has had any issues. All staff make you welcome, and you can see how much they care about every single resident. My uncle has dementia and will be here for the rest of his days. I have no doubt he will be looked after and happy here. If you have a family member and you want them to have the best care, I can guarantee this is the place for them. They are all amazing.

The Windmill Care Home is a home-from-home where the residents receive care, compassion, understanding and sometimes pampering, with the opportunity of taking part in activities on a daily basis. My mum was placed in the care home after being in hospital for six weeks and by then, had lost strength,
mobility and her love of food. Initially, she was unable to even get out of bed. Since being in the Windmill she has been helped and encouraged to regain all three of these in a loving way by the carers and management team. Mum has made good friends with fellow residents, carers and management, such a joy to hear her laughing and singing again. Everyone at the Windmill is amazing and gives their best. I highly recommend giving The Windmill a look if you are in the difficult position of needing a home for your loved one to be cared for in.

Mum was a resident at the Windmill Care home for seventeen months. Of those seventeen months, poor Mum was put on end-of-life care for the last year. She passed away 3 weeks ago. During her stay at the Windmill, she was looked after by the wonderful, caring staff. They all, in my mind, went above and
beyond to make sure Mum was comfortable in every way they could. My sister and I found the home, staff and management all very friendly, approachable and informative about my mum's situation. They treated her with much dignity right up until her final hours. I cannot fault The Windmill Care Home and thank them for looking after Mum so well.

My mother has been a Windmill Care Home resident for about 18 months, initially being discharged there from hospital and then choosing to make it her permanent home. She was made welcome from the very start and is very happy to be there. She is well cared for by the staff and she very much enjoys the
home-cooked food. She enjoys participating in activities, particularly Bingo and balloon volleyball. She is happy to spend time in the lounge but also likes being able to watch TV in her own room in the evenings. I am kept abreast by both staff and management of how my mother is doing. If there are any concerns about her health, I am alerted and the local GP is contacted timeously. I phone daily and chat to either staff or management before talking to my mother. Whenever I visit I am also made very welcome. I have been very impressed by the Windmill staff and management team and am happy that this is where my mother now calls home.

My father became a resident at The Windmill last August, and my mother followed him about 2 weeks later. My father was terminally ill, and my mother had suffered a severe stroke in July. Both were treated with utmost dignity at all times and up to his death, my father was treated with respect and care.
My father died suddenly in September, and I couldn’t have wished for a more compassionate group of staff during this period, not only for my mother but also for myself. I would not hesitate to place a loved one in their care.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.631)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.631) out of 10 for The Windmill Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.7 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.731 for The Windmill Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (81 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) + (5 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 104 Ratings = 4.731

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Windmill Care Home is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 35 registered maximum number of service users is 7, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Manager

I joined the service in June 2020. My initial goal was to improve the CQC rating resulting in improvements being made within the home which I achieved and will continue to achieve going forward to ensure our residents get the best from the home.

I have several qualifications in health and social care for adults and children including NVQ levels 2 and 3 and a diploma level 5. I began working in the care sector when I was aged just 17 years old and have tried each job role throughout my progression.

I believe in supporting people to reach their goals whether they are residents or staff members and I am happy to support them to do this. To me, being approachable is the most important thing for all to be able to approach me as and when they wish/need to.
