Bethesda Eventide Homes offer high-quality residential care and day care in a friendly Christian environment for up to 27 residents, including those living with early stages of dementia.

Respite may be available, subject to vacant homes at the time of asking.

A dedicated team of staff is available 24 hours a day to provide care and support and each resident has a care plan tailored to their individual needs, which promotes independence, choice, dignity and respect.

All residents' homes are well-equipped with en-suite facilities and TV and telephone points as well as a personal call system. The refurbished lounge and dining areas are comfortable and spacious areas where residents meet together for meals and to socialise with each other. There is also a smaller lounge which can be used at times when more privacy is required or for family gatherings.

Freshly prepared meals from a varied menu are served in the dining room or, if residents prefer, they can enjoy their meals in their own home.

As well as a full activities and devotional programme, visits from family and friends are always encouraged at any time of the day.

Our mum, who is an ex-nurse, was not keen to go to a residential home but ultimately there was no other option. She has been a resident for over a year now and is very, very happy. She only ever has positive things to say about all aspects of her care and my brother and I agree. When I think about Bethesda
Eventide Homes, I think about happy faces of both staff and residents and care given respectfully, sensitively, willingly and happily. Thank you Bethesda.

A fantastic care home, it's small and very friendly, no agency staff so the residents and families know the staff well. It is very much a home-from-home for the residents with fantastic care, great variety of activities and super food.
Just a brilliant home.

Bethesda Eventide Homes is a warm, friendly, welcoming home. All the staff are smiley, approachable and so very attentive and helpful. We are always greeted by everyone (be they management, carer, laundry or restaurant staff) with a smile and cheerfulness. We are always contacted regarding any concerns
they may have with our mum. There are always activities to participate in as well as Christian input if required. A lovely, warm, happy place which we are so grateful for.

My mother has been very lucky to be a resident at Bethesda for the last 4 years. She has been very happy there. What makes Bethesda special is the caring attitude of the whole team led by the manager. They go the extra mile to make sure my mother is comfortable and enjoys life. The meals and the entertainment
are first class and there is a wonderful family atmosphere. Everyone makes time to chat to residents. They also support the residents' families and we feel part of the home. Only problem is it is an old building and some of the rooms are a bit small.

Prior to my aunt entering the home, we visited various local homes and Bethesda Eventide stood out a mile above all the others. Yes, it may not be a modern building, but this is more than outweighed by the warmth and atmosphere as soon as you enter.
All the staff are very friendly and welcoming. They
go out of their way to help in any way they can plus they treat all the residents with great respect and friendliness.
My aunt always has more than enough to eat and the menu is varied to suit all tastes. She often says that she couldn't eat all her food.
The daily activities are good plus there is no pressure to join in if you don't want to.
I really like the idea that they promote that residents don't have a room, it is a home! What an excellent idea!
So all in all, an excellent home and my aunt does not regret at all moving in. She just wishes she had done it sooner!

Generally a well-run home. Mum is always well cared for and is always washed and dressed when I visit. Food is OK, sometimes portions could be larger seems to be a general opinion old people don't eat much? The staff I have had contact with are all friendly and helpful.

I have been involved with Bethesda Eventide Homes for a number of years, previously as a trustee, for the last 4 years as a relative and for the last year as a volunteer too. I sometimes have the privilege of leading a Bible Study in the Homes. The Christian ethos is important and the management and
staff work hard to ensure that those wishing to attend such events are assisted as necessary. It is always a pleasure to attend the Homes whether it is just to visit or in a voluntary capacity assisting the activities co-ordinator. The atmosphere is one of family and belonging where support is given to an individual as their needs require. My mum is well cared for and loved by those who care for her. A variety of activities are available to all,(including any who are visiting too). The management are dedicated to providing the best for the residents and their passion for the job is shared by the staff whatever their role, contributing to the warm atmosphere felt when visiting.

I have been a volunteer at Bethesda Eventide Home for 5 1/2 years. My experience has rarely been negative.
This home has a sense of family and community, everyone feels that they belong. This is a Christian home, which is evident by the real feeling of peace, acceptance and respect throughout the household.
The managers and staff are passionate about their role in this home.
The activities provided throughout the year never fail to engage and amuse the residents and their families. This is a fun place to be for sure, where life is treasured to the last and memories are relived and talked about with respect and great interest.

I have visited the home on several occasions since the home opened after lockdown. I have supported the activity coordinator who provides many varied things for the visitors to participate in if desired. I have observed the staff working with the residents. They appear well-trained and are always courteous
towards visitors and the residents. I also helped out in the kitchen as the cook was unwell and it was difficult to find a replacement at short notice. I worked with two members of staff who worked extremely hard to ensure the meal was served on time and that nutritional need was met. Both members of staff were well versed in the needs of the residents and ensured that the residents received food that was tasty and looked appetising as well as meeting appropriate nutritional needs. All the home staff are very friendly and always provide a happy atmosphere where residents can reach their potential and live in comfort.

The team at Bethesda Eventide are friendly and caring and has a good relationship with my father, who has been a resident for more than 5-years. They have got to know his ways and routine, and it is lovely to see the interaction they enjoy. His home is of a good size, comfortable and warm, and he spends
most of his time in there, although there is a range of activities he could join in with. The food is varied, and Dad always enjoys it. It is reassuring for us that Dad is well cared for and happy.

Following a short break at Bethesda from her rented Suffolk independent supported accommodation, my mother chose to stay.
She immediately found a place that was personable and caring. Wholly focused on the mental and physical health of the residents.
As an independent provider of aged care, it has
proven to be an all welcoming environment, strongly focused on those living there.
A focus on seeking external sources of engagement through music, culture, and society realises a weekly program of interesting activities for all of the residents.
Harbouring deep reservations about my mother entering residential care I undertook much research prior to identifying Bethesda in Ipswich.
Subsequently, the management and care support team have realised for us, as a family, a professional yet invested commitment to my mother which is wonderful and humbling,
Bethesda people give a home that is both loving and professional,l ensuring a safe and enabling environment.

Bethesda is a happy and welcoming home. Mum is well cared for and treated with respect. A reassurance to know during covid times. Every day there are engaging activities to get involved with if you want to. We really appreciate the family activities which are well organised and are great opportunities
to be with your loved one to have some fun and laughter in a homely atmosphere. The firework display in November with hot dogs was very good. Mum really enjoys the home-cooked food. There is always a good choice and a cup of tea is provided throughout the day. A nice touch when you visit to make it feel more like home.

My mother loves it here. She is so well looked after by all of the staff. She enjoys the food, activities, themed says, friendly atmosphere and the high level of individual attention and care. The staff communicate with relatives through phone calls, emails, newsletters, zoom meetings and we are invited
to join in the activities and special events any time we can. I am always made to feel welcome and listened to. It really is a special place and I'm so glad we found it!

Dad is well cared for in the home. As his health has deteriorated over the last 12-months, the care and support have increased. The staff are always very welcoming when visiting him, and nothing seems to be too much trouble.
What impresses me the most, when you phone, the staff always know how he is
and where he is without having to look up any notes.
I have friends in the healthcare profession, and when I tell them that Dad is in Bethesda Eventide, they only have good things to say about the home.
I would strongly recommend this home

Current Review Score: 9.7 (9.706)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.7 (9.706) out of 10 for Bethesda Eventide Homes is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.806 for Bethesda Eventide Homes is calculated as follows: ( (89 Excellents x 5) + (17 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.806

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bethesda Eventide Homes is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 27 registered maximum number of service users is 5.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Tom Horrex

Job Title: Homes Manager

Hello, I’m Tom, I joined Bethesda Eventide Homes in May 2020. I have been privileged enough to work in care for 15 years and have been working in management roles for 5 years.

I fell in love with care after regularly visiting great-grandparents in residential care settings. The love and care that they were shown during their later years are what inspired me to commence work within the sector.

I began working in care as a kitchen assistant and enjoyed the feeling of supporting people daily and helping them live fulfilled lives. This passion led to my desire to progress and in 2018 I completed my Level 5 in Leadership and Management and following other Management roles am delighted to be a part of such a special team at Bethesda Eventide Homes.

I find daily satisfaction in helping others to receive appropriate levels of support whilst maintaining their independence. The last chapter of a book is usually the best, and I feel it is a great privilege to be able to help others live a fulfilled life and be part of their later years, whilst leading the brilliant team here to further develop the already excellent care provided at the home.

Residential Care is such an undervalued area, but I am so proud of the way we can make such a difference in our resident's lives, keeping them healthy, active and smiling every day at Bethesda Eventide Homes.
