Harleston House offers a safe and friendly environment, which respects residents’ rights, dignity and privacy, and provides the maximum opportunity to exercise personal autonomy and choice.

Located in Lowestoft, Suffolk, Harleston House provides residential dementia care to older people.

The original house has been refurbished and extended to provide a specialist dementia care setting.

All staff receive training in all aspects of care.

Bedrooms are light and spacious with en-suite facilities. Residents are encouraged to bring in personal items and can enjoy safe and secure internal and external spaces, which are specially adapted to provide accessibility and stimulation.

The home's chefs cater for each and every resident's individual tastes.

All food is freshly prepared and residents can make requests and ideas. All special dietary requirements catered for.

Mum had a spell in hospital during September 2024. Mum didn't do well there but on return to Harleston House as been helped back to the best she can be. All staff have encouraged mum to do more. The daily activities have stimulated mum to participate more than she did before. To be honest on discharge
from hospital we thought mum wouldn't make Christmas. Harleston House helped her to have a great Christmas.

Our overall experience is excellent. Dad has been treated with dignity and is looking better than he has for months. The care and support is wonderful. Staff are respectful and friendly. The management is obviously top class as the home is run so well. Dad's room is lovely. He has a window so he can
see the sky and we were able to put up his pictures and bring his own chair in. Everywhere is clean and well maintained. The food and drink look delicious - it's a long time since Dad has eaten so well. There are plenty of stimulating and fun activities going on daily and participation is not mandatory. Family as so pleased Dad is received the proper care as we discovered that we were unable to provide this.

Harleston House has given us a family complete peace of mind. Every single member of staff is amazing, the patience, love and care they give is superb. There is entertainment practically every day, music, knit-and-natter group, indoor ball games, baking etc., the list is endless. They also have a wonderful
garden. This month they were taken out to the seafront and had ice creams. Food is amazing.
Thank you so much to all the staff at Harleston House for looking after our most treasured and much loved mum.
Would definitely recommend Harleston House to anyone looking for a wonderful care home.

We have had nothing but a positive experience since placing Mum into Harleston House. The staff are fantastic and are tuned in to each patient's individual needs. The home itself is pleasant with bright and airy communal rooms, a lovely garden and the bedrooms are well-decorated and homely. The activity
programme is amazing and the catering is very good, it is a pleasure to visit Mum, not just to see her but because it has such a lovely atmosphere (made by the staff). It is a wonderful feeling to know that when we leave her she is safe, well cared for and seems happy. We couldn't ask for any more.

We really enjoyed our visit to Harleston House and seeing our relative so happy. She joined in with all of the many activities as did we. The singers that came into entertain us were excellent and we all really enjoyed a good sing-along. We stayed for lunch every day and the food was lovely with a good
selection to meet everyone's needs. The staff were so kind and friendly and the whole atmosphere of the home was of caring and kindness. Everything you could wish for your relative.

From our first unscheduled visit to Harleston House and the subsequent stay that my Mum had, the staff were all so friendly, professional and caring. The service we received as a family could not be faulted, and my Mum absolutely loved her respite stay. I have no hesitation in recommending the home

My dear friend booked herself into Harleston House for end-of-life care. I visited her on many occasions and witnessed the care, compassion and friendship she received from all staff from the manager to the cleaner. The welcome she received, the peace she found and the love she felt made all the difference
with the standards to her last weeks and days. I could not have been more impressed with the standards of cleanliness and hygiene I found or with the level of personal care my friend received. I was always welcomed into the house (along with my dog) and never made to feel like an imposter or a nuisance to staff as they went about their business in a most professional but caring way. In her last few weeks on this earth - my friend found the family she had craved all her life.

My wife has been a resident at Harleston House after a horrendous 3 months plus in 2 different hospitals and 1 other care home. She is there on 6 week trial. We have just completed week 4 and I hope she can stay there for the future. From management to carers, kitchen staff, cleaners and handyman and

My experience in this home has been a very good one for the short time my relative has been here. There is always activities going on to stimulate the residents. The staff are always willing to help families with medical information, assisting residents if they need it. They all seem very kind and caring
in their roles. Pressure and worry has been taken off myself and family as my relative seems considerably happier.

From the first point of contact, showing me around the care home, to the support given throughout the process of introducing Mum into the home and settling her in, we have been so impressed with the care and friendliness of all staff. They cannot do enough for you, and the only home I contacted where
you didn't need an appointment to visit. Mum's room is spacious, modern and warm; she is allowed privacy and has been gently introducing Mum into activities she would like. She has settled really well and is extremely happy. I would thoroughly recommend Harlston House, and do regularly, for anyone looking for top-class care and staff who get to know you personally. A real home from home! I can return to Australia knowing she's in the best care. Thank you.

My mum has been a resident of Harleston House for almost nine years. Mum is very settled, she is well looked after and has her own lovely room which is kept spotless. If Mum wants she can have a quiet time there or she can go downstairs to sit with others or take part in daily activities which are different
every day. Throughout the years all staff and management have supported and cared for her in a caring and professional manner and they always have time to chat with her. They are also supportive to us as a family and will always be there to listen. I can say without doubt that Harleston House is a five star home that I would recommend to everyone.

My Mum has been a resident in Harleston House for almost two years now and we, her family, realise that she has found it a difficult adjustment to living in her own home. However, the staff have always been very helpful, friendly and patient with Mum and us, as she has gradually adjusted to life there.
She enjoys joining in some of the many activities organised by the staff, who are enthusiastic and supportive when dealing with the many differing needs of the residents. We appreciate the social media updates with photos and words about the latest activity! We also appreciate the many video calls with Mum which we have had on the care home portal, so much better than a phone call! It's never too much trouble for staff to arrange it for us and Mum. Mum chose Harleston House herself, it was the right choice for her!

My husband moved into Harleston House in May. From the very beginning, I was impressed that all members of staff knew his name and what his needs were. The home is very clean and there are always lots of activities to stimulate the residents. Nothing is too much trouble. I feel very relaxed when visiting
and am always made very welcome. A drink is offered as soon as I go in and during the heatwave, I have enjoyed many an ice cream with my husband and the other residents. There is always someone to help feed him and attend to his needs, his communication being very poor.

I couldn't wish for a more caring, happy and professional home for my husband. Management and staff are always approachable and management always available to listen to any concerns or even just to chat and reassure. Harleston House became my second home and residents' and all staff my extended family.

I have always found the staff very helpful. My husband's room is very clean and there is not any nasty smells. The days I don't go visiting I telephone the nurses on the other end is always very nice and very helpful. Can not fault this in anyway.

My team and I encourage residents to maintain the lifestyles they are used to whilst maintaining a safe environment for them to live. My personal philosophy here is 'I don’t come here to work, I come and live around the residents offering them companionship, support and encouragement in all aspects of their lives.'
I involve residents as much as they wish in making decisions in all areas of their home. My passion, drive and commitment to Harleston is well supported by all my team, residents and relatives involved with Harleston House.
