Highfield House offers short or long-term residential care solutions for a wide range of differing needs. Care plans are adapted to suit individual requirements and include care for Parkinson’s, palliative and convalescence care as well as care for the young physically disabled.

The interior of this converted Georgian property has a great deal of character, with two spacious lounges and airy dining rooms to relax and socialise in. Bedrooms have soft furnishings and there are peaceful countryside surroundings.

A nutritious food menu is put together using fresh local produce, with residents having their personal taste and diet assessed on arrival.

A wide range of activities and interests are made available to occupants, such as arts and crafts, gardening, quiz evenings, and movement to music. Regular outings and trips to places of local interest may also be enjoyed.

Almost all staff are excellent. I have settled in now and call it home. Food is very good. I have put on over a stone in weight since October 2019.

Overall the care home was good. The staff were friendly, helpful and very caring. This is a small home and the relationships between carers and residents is very good.
My father, who is a very determined man managed to abscond three times, and this highlighted some issues of security. There was found
to be an exterior door, for which the key had gone missing.
This was initially remedied by the door being blocked with furniture which my father was able to move and abscond again.
Other than this issue I am happy to recommend. The home is a warm and friendly place for the elderly.

Staff work very hard, having to cope with residents, many of whom have severe dementia and physical problems and also in for 'end of life' situations. A friendly, caring home and I have full confidence in the staff, who deserve full support from the homeowners.

My father was a resident in Highfields for only 2 months but the care he received was brilliant. He always looked clean and cared for. They made his last Christmas very enjoyable. The care he received in his last few days was second to none and they treated him with such dignity. The staff also looked
after us (the family) making sure we were kept up to date with dads condition and supplying numerous hot drinks on the long nights we were there. Well done and thank you.

The level of care and dedication that my dad received whilst in Highfield was excellent. Very kind carers all of whom cared for my dad with dignity and thought.


After my dad died the carers were there to comfort us and support us. I would certainly recommend this care home to everybody. Thank you

We were impressed from first coming through the front door, a very welcoming bright and fresh entrance hall, tables in the dining room were very well laid out like a good class restaurant. We walked by the kitchen which also looked immaculate.


Our friend's room was clean and pleasant with an outlook

on to the patio and garden. Very light and airy. The staff we met were very friendly and cheerful. Our friend's meal arrived just as we were about to leave. It smelt and looked delicious.


We were pleasantly surprised by the overall good quality of this care home.

As a frequent visitor (usually 3-4 times weekly) to Highfield, I have seen consistently excellent standards of warmth and empathy - i.e. real caring. Since my mother entered the home in May 2015, the staff have gone out of their way to engage with her, listen to her, and address her needs and wants.
Even late at night, on the occasion I returned my mother to Highfield from hospital, we were welcomed with the sort of warmth and cheerfulness you would expect from a family. There appears to be a slow rate of staff turnover. This is very important for my mother, who is rather shy with new people. It also suggests good levels of job satisfaction. Many of the core qualities of Highfield will not lead to boxes being ticked during CQC inspections. But to my mind, they are far more important than the processes and protocols that determine the CQC rating. I would certainly recommend Highfield to anyone looking for a care home for their loved one.
