Maynell House is ideally located in a delightful residential part of Old Felixstowe, just a short distance from the town centre and all its shops and amenities. Maynell House has a beautifully landscaped 2 acre garden, filled with mature trees and carefully tended lawns offering a variety of interesting surroundings and places to rest. There are many short walks in the vicinity and the sea and cliffs are nearby.

This late Victorian building was formerly the Felixstowe College, and has been sympathetically refurbished to retain original wooden panelled features, creating a superb home with a real difference. Maynell House has inviting lounges where residents can relax or socialise. Bedrooms have en-suite facilities, television and telephone access. All rooms are fully furnished, however, residents are encouraged to bring items of furniture and personal possessions with them so that their room can be a true 'home from home'.

Maynell House provides a high standard of residential care.

Care staff are trained to the highest standards and chosen not only for their skills, but also for their warmth, friendliness and caring attitude. Staff are available constantly to provide professional care that respects the rights and dignity of the individual.

Residents are assessed on a regular basis to ensure their needs are fully met. Appointments can be made with a visiting optician, dentist, and chiropodist. Maynell House has an in-house hairdressing salon that provides all the usual services plus manicures and hand massages. Catering staff provide delicious meals and snacks throughout the day, special diets can of course be catered for.

Mum has now been at Maynell for nearly 6 and a half years, she remains settled, happy and continues to praise the staff.
During this past year, especially with Covid restrictions, the staff have kept me informed about Mum and her health and enabled me to visit her in accordance with Government/local
authority guiding. I acknowledge how difficult this has been and throughout the staff have been excellent, always chatty, friendly, smiling etc even though they have themselves been at risk.

Mum entered Maynell during lockdown and sadly became very ill. The staff were very caring and supportive to Mum. Always friendly and helpful when I visited. Maynell has a good range of activities for the residents and the garden is just beautiful. We were welcomed into the home to visit Mum in her last
days. Her charming room was clean and tidy. The staff were very hard-working, kind, and compassionate. We are all very grateful to the fabulous staff at Maynell for looking after our Mum.

My mum was very unwell and the compassion all the staff had was excellent. The care is outstanding and I know I can call on any of the wonderful staff for help and advice, at any time. The care and welfare of the residents is always first on the staffs' list of priorities. My mum has been here a long
time and I would not want her to be anywhere else. All the staff have become friends, not just carers.

My mum is in this care home and is very happy there. She is very well taken care of which is very reassuring for my sister and I. Peace of mind is a great thing and we have that with Mum there. All the staff are good and friendly. The resident I visit sometimes gets frustrated when she asks something of the staff and they don't get back to her. She is very understanding that the staff are busy but feels that they don't communicate to the right person. The resident has poor eyesight and can't
always say who she has spoken to.
It would be good practise for whoever is entering her room to say their name but overall, the care from the staff is good.

Wonderful and caring environment. Staff are friendly and supportive. My sister is a resident and is treated with dignity. They take time to speak with her and get to know her. She enjoys the activities. She feels safe and secure in the home. The room is clean and comfortable, definite value for money.

When my father has hospital appointments and NHS transport is unavailable the care home ensures other transport as he is wheelchair bound and has very poor eyesight. Invites to events eg., summer fete, Christmas part etc. Nice gardens outside space. Residents have trips out in the minibus, sometimes
go out for a meal. Very happy with the care and support and always made welcome.

My mother has been a resident at Maynell for 17 months in which time she has enjoyed the beautiful grounds. The varied activities and entertainment Mum is always treated as an individual with her own likes and dislikes. The carers are very caring and are very good. When family visit they are surprised
to find Mum in such homely surroundings that do not smell as so many care homes do.

The home welcomed my father and were very relaxed and accommodating as we attempted to make him feel at home.
The staff are always very friendly and he is cared for well.
An area of weakness has been the frequency of baths - apparently meant to be once a week, but have not been happening that frequently.

My mother was taken into Maynell House in February 2016 just a few days before her 90th Birthday. She was suffering from dementia and was extremely difficult to deal with. The staff at Maynell House were amazing in the way they treated her - despite many difficult times. She gradually got used to her
surroundings and appeared very happy. In her last days, there was nothing the staff could do which was too much trouble. They arranged everything to make her comfortable and talked to her constantly. I would have no hesitation in recommending the home to anyone.

I see my father-in-law often and the staff will also take the time to tell me how he is getting on and if there is anything he needs. They will also phone me so I can get him out for his cigarette and staff will take him out regularly throughout the day so he can have a smoke as that is his enjoyment
as he is registered blind. The staff are always friendly and helpful.

Reasonable care - considerate but not exceptional. Generally cheerful, but not with occasional sense that residents lives are arranged to fit the schedule and convenience of the home; not nice versa. Activities are limited. Not much, if any, initiative evident for finding solution for residents to attend
church, for example. Clean, friendly and generally fine.
