The purpose-built home provides residential and dementia care for older people, both permanently and on a short-term basis, as well as compassionate end of life care.

Mills Meadow has stunning lounges, a café with lots of homemade cake, a cinema room, art room and hair salon. All en-suite bedrooms are beautifully decorated and furnished, and residents can bring their own possessions and furniture to make their room feel more like home.

To find the words to express my gratitude to this wonderful team would never be enough. You have given my loved one a reason to smile and laugh. Your smiles must be infectious, your positivity and commitment is so rewarding for the ones you take good care of.
For myself, you give me so much more.
The trust I have in you is paramount. I can walk away and smile too, that infectious smile you spread. I gain the time needed to play catch up at home, sleep being one of the most important when I have cared for my loved one, when he gets his night and day confused, spending some nights doing what others would do at a more conventional hour. My guardian angels you all are.
We are always updated on activities, food and any event happenings, invited to take part and greeted as important as everyone is. Social media updates and photos are outstanding.
I too feel appreciated by this wonderful team who welcomes us into their day.
I have so much gratitude to each and every one of this wonderful team.

We rung Mells Meadow ahead to visit our friend. When we arrived, the last on the desk was very helpful. The staff were happy, cheerful and genuinely caring.
The room was exceptionally clean, as was everywhere else that we saw. It has a luxurious feel to it. We were extremely impressed and were made
to feel very welcome.

I was received here with courtesy and kindness. There is a generosity of staff call mom help always at hand if needed. My privacy is always respected. The design of the building encourages my independence, which I valued. I feel safe here and well fed.

The entire experience, from initial contact to moving in and two weeks beyond has been a dream come true.
I wanted safety and support for my Mum in a respectful and friendly environment.
From the first steps inside the door, I was bowled over by the warmth, the space, and the happiness around every
turn.
Two weeks in, and Mum is already finding her feet and growing in confidence.
It is a pleasure to visit, and I’m made to feel part of this large family.

We had rung ahead to visit our older friend. When we arrived the welcome from the lady on the front desk could not have been more genuine, offering refreshments after our journey. Staff were very kind and helpful in getting him back to his room - he had been playing the piano for a couple of residents
who were singing! They had his lunch ready for him in the dining room after we left.
Our friend said his room was adequate and his bed comfortable.

My aunt was very reluctant to go into residential care but she ended up feeling very comfortable and content there. She was very well looked after and this was particularly evident in the last few months of her life. The staff were extremely caring and went above and beyond what one would normally expect
of carers. This was very reassuring for her family.

My mother has been in this home for nearly three years and she sadly passed away in December 2022. I highly recommend this home for the care, support, activities and high level of compassion. The care is of the highest standard and nothing was too much. My mother had dementia, but the care given to
her was second to none. I was with her for the last 48 hours and the care home supported me through the process, explaining everything that was happening.

Generally I am pleased with my wife's care. Just one thing to note because she has lost weight. This is due to her teeth plates top and bottom. The dentist could not fit the impression due to her involuntary movement so recommended a fixative every morning.

Always very welcoming on arrival no matter the time of day or which staff are on duty. All staff are professional and friendly.
My mother is very well cared for and staff are genuinely caring. It's not easy caring for someone who has dementia but the staff show her dignity always and I am very appreciative

It's a good care home. Lots of trips and activities for the residents. Friendly staff. It is the same as many care homes at the moment with a lack of permanent staff but the home is trying to recruit. Positions filled by agency staff. It is not ideal as residents prefer regular staff as for many these
become a surrogate family and build a bond. On the whole, I would give mills meadow 8/10. The only thing that knocks points down is the shortfall of regular permanent staff. And the food. The kitchen does good selections, but the residents don't understand some of the terms. Instead of calling Hungarian goulash, call it beef stew and they understand. Most like plain wholesome food, nothing fancy.

Normally these guys are reasonably good, but when we visited today the Mother’s Day planter that we had given Mum was not in her room. Asked one of the staff on drink trolley duty where it was? He didn’t seem to understand much English, then after a lot of faffing and asking about they confessed that
the cleaner had just thrown it out and we received a mumbled halfhearted apology. The bulbs will flower again next year and can be planted outside, and we wanted to replant some summer flowers in the small planter to bring some colour into a very bland and boring room. Both of us visiting have been reduced to tears by this incredibly thoughtless act, it is not as if no one visits frequently so you have no way to ask before throwing out a patient’s possessions. No respect whatsoever.

When I was looking for a care home I visited all care homes from Ispwich to Framlingham and decided on Mills Meadow was the best because of the staff, location to the centre of town and the cafe, and all is very friendly.
I object to paying for a coffee in the cafe as this is not necessary when the
fees should cover.

My mother, who became a resident of Mills Meadow in March 2019, suffers from dementia, which has become more acute in the past months. The care she has received has been outstanding. The staff I have had contact with have always been immensely helpful and generous with their time, have been kind and
considerate, and have always found cause to enjoy plenty of good humour and friendliness. This while all the time displaying the highest standards of professionalism. During the coronavirus crisis, they stayed on top of their game and when I saw my mother for the first time in three months when the lockdown was eased I was delighted to see her in cheerful spirits and not at all alarmed at the fact that she had to wear protective equipment and that I wore face covering, evidence in my view that she had been sympathetically prepared. Mills Meadow staff have shown over and over that they are true carers, not just in job description but in vocation.

Mums transition from her own home to Mills Meadow was traumatic and emotional for all concerned, however, the help we received from all the staff has meant that mum is now settled and seems very happy despite living with dementia. There are lots of lovely touches at the home, most recently the Valentines
Lunch at which they had a small teddy bear for each of the residents. This was lovely to see.

Everything would have been excellent if we had our full number of staff. Last night we had two carers and one senior on duty, that was for two units with about 40 residents.
I have talked to the manager about this but I think her hands are tied as to what she can do. The staff we have are caring and
lovely people. I moved here in March 2019 and last night was the first night I had trouble sleeping as I was worried about the staff shortage.

I’ve worked at Care UK since November 2005.


I absolutely love this organisation and what it stands for. Being promoted to the role of Home Manager at Mills Meadow has been the highlight of my career. Before this, I was the Deputy Manager of Care UK’s Britten Court.


As Home Manager, I believe it’s important to create good relationships with all team members and residents in the home, as well as relatives. You need to be approachable, understanding and sympathetic, but also firm when needed. As well as achieving all the relevant qualifications for this role, I’m trained as a Red Umbrella mental health first aider.


The most important part of my role is ensuring that the highest quality care is provided for residents at all times.


I love seeing residents happy in their homes – it's a sign that the team is doing a good job. I’m proud to be able to make a difference to so many people’s lives in my role.
