The purpose-built home provides residential and dementia care for older people, both permanently and on a short-term basis, as well as compassionate end of life care.

Mills Meadow has stunning lounges, a café with lots of homemade cake, a cinema room, art room and hair salon. All en-suite bedrooms are beautifully decorated and furnished, and residents can bring their own possessions and furniture to make their room feel more like home.

The lifestyle team works hard to guarantee residents and day club members always have something fun to do, with regular activities, entertainment and outings in the minibus.

I have been very pleased with the care for my mother, who has dementia. It is such a sad condition, but I feel she is cared for by the staff I have dealings with, extremely well. They have shown tremendous patience and talk to Mum as a friend who cares. This is a huge relief to me and my family.
Putting
a loved one into a home is emotionally exhausting and very difficult, but I feel Mills Meadow have dealt with the situation very well, especially as Mum may be a more challenging resident.

Most staff are excellent and some do more than expected. Food quality is not as good as it has been in the past. Staff shortages sometimes worry me. Dad sometimes does not get taken out of bed until late morning.

The care I have received has been excellent. I have only one comment - those awful nylon sheets. I am allergic to man-made materials. Had I been warned I could have brought some cotton sheets with me, although I don't think this should be necessary. My daughter has guests staying and would not dream
of giving them nylon sheets - she would soon be out of business if she did. I hope my comments will be noted.

I came to Mills Meadow for a two-week rest in May 2019.
I was very pleasantly surprised to be made very welcome by both residents and carers.


The facilities were excellent with a happy atmosphere in every area of the home. I would not hesitate to return to the home if I should need further respite

care or indeed in the future on a permanent basis.

I cannot fault the level of care that the staff at Mills Meadow have provided my Dad over the past five months. Everyone has been so friendly and helpful throughout. Nothing has been too much to ask. The Mills Meadow team should be proud of what they are achieving under very effective leadership as

Mum was admitted on 2nd May 2019. We had looked at lots of care homes and nursing homes in the area, and Mills Meadow stood out as the very best. It was clear that this was a very well run home with simply excellent facilities, capable, efficient and welcoming staff, and just that atmosphere that makes
you think "Yes this is the place where I want Mum to be".
Staffing levels - very impressive. Wonderful baths and lovely ensuite rooms. Mum needed a nursing home for a full lift and two carers to do it, but Mills Meadow had the capability to do this.
Unfortunately Mum arrived there at very short notice, and the flexibility of staff was tested and not found wanting. The senior on duty stayed late to make sure she was properly welcomed. Sadly and unexpectedly Mum died very shortly after arriving. I can't really express how very grateful I am to all there for making her last few hours so comfortable. When she died she was in a lovely place surrounded by people who really cared.

Prior to my admission to Mills Meadow care home I was naturally rather apprehensive as to what was going to meet me but to my astonishment, my first impression was one of delight. The atmosphere, the lovely smell of coffee, the spaciousness spelt a well looked after care home. Staff welcomed me and
showed me to my room which gave me a look of comfort, and a lovely look out at the gardens and ducks etc.


The patients all looked happy and well cared for by the trusted carers, who are treated as if they were their own parents. The general camaraderie of staff from the top level to bottom was lovely, I certainly would relish for an ex-nurse 10/10.

I was trying to arrange respite care for a friend, prior to her returning to her own home. From the initial contact, the assessment, transfer from hospital and aftercare, all have been exceptional. My friend was made very welcome and had every care and attention. I cannot but feel, as she lives alone
still, that she will miss all the company.

I personally have been here since 2nd January 2018 and am pleased to say I feel very happy here and think after living alone for 3 years, that I have fitted in quite well. I try to accept other residents as friends and try to join in a lot of the activities as well.
The manager runs this home well
and is always ready to listen to us.

My Mum became acutely ill and there were no beds available at the hospital - she had to wait 10 days before being admitted. The staff at Mills Meadow were all outstanding in supporting her and the family at this very difficult time. I feel that this support was a contributory factor to her quick recovery
in hospital. They continue to provide outstanding support now she is back home again. Their liaison with other services is excellent.

Mills Meadow is a lovely care home. There is always something going on for the residents. It is clean, bright and fresh. We always take Nan to the cafe or around the garden. Her room is lovely and clean and she seems very happy.

Mills Meadow agreed to take mother from hospital after a stroke because she was already a member of their day club. She was very poorly but they quickly made her feel cared for, comfortable and cleared up problems of soreness and lack of cleanliness left from the hospital.
Their care and communication
could not be faulted - even coming on days off to see how she was. Her last weeks were vastly better at Mills Meadow than they would have been elsewhere and we were all treated with dignity and love.

My brother and I would like to thank Mills Meadow staff for the care of our parents. The management and office staff have been so helpful with the transition from home to care home and especially to me their daughter, giving me support in a difficult time.
It's been a long time since we have seen both
our parents, especially our mum, who now has dementia, smile so much. That is also down to daycare staff who have given Mum a chance to have a life for herself after caring for Dad for a number of years and a chance to meet old friends and new.

I’ve worked at Care UK since November 2005.


I absolutely love this organisation and what it stands for. Being promoted to the role of Home Manager at Mills Meadow has been the highlight of my career. Before this, I was the Deputy Manager of Care UK’s Britten Court.


As Home Manager, I believe it’s important to create good relationships with all team members and residents in the home, as well as relatives. You need to be approachable, understanding and sympathetic, but also firm when needed. As well as achieving all the relevant qualifications for this role, I’m trained as a Red Umbrella mental health first aider.


The most important part of my role is ensuring that the highest quality care is provided for residents at all times.


I love seeing residents happy in their homes – it's a sign that the team is doing a good job. I’m proud to be able to make a difference to so many people’s lives in my role.
