Montana Care Home is a residential and nursing home with strong values, allowing residents to choose their own way of life and personalised support.

They provide person centred care based on respect for human dignity and the personal development of each individual to promote a secure and loving family atmosphere and care for people, regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnic origin, nationality, colour, religious persuasion or belief, cultural or linguistic background, marital status, sexual orientation, or disability. They offer long-term care but can accommodate short-term care (including respite) when there is availability.

The Home is set in a traditional single-storey house, now extended to provide spacious accommodation in the very heart of rural Suffolk near the culturally historical town of Bury St Edmunds. They have accommodation for 19 people (16 rooms - 3 of them can be used as double rooms with en-suite facilities) and provide residential care of the very highest quality to older people (male and female) who are in need of care through frailty, disability or choice.

Friends and family visit at their convenience and are able to spend as much time with their relatives as they wish.

    The Home charges the current rate of fees paid by the relevant placing social/ health services. For more details about fees and the methods for paying them, please see our separate Terms and Conditions of Residency (and Financial Agreement for Self-Funders).
    Residents contributions to fees (or the full amount for some who self-fund) are usually collected by four weekly standing order. The fees are reviewed each year and usually change (subject to government guidance) each April.

    £1350 -1500 PER PERSON PER WEEK
    £ 1400-£ 1500 PER WEEK FOR A DOUBLE ROOM Single occupancy
    Most people are eligible for financial assistance with their fees. This can be explained in detail by the relevant Social/ Health Services Department, but typically consists of a payment from Social Services
    according to their assessments of their needs, with the remainder paid by you from your benefits or from your family
    Other people have more than the “minimum level of savings” (set each year by the government) which leads to them having to pay the full care home fee (they become “self-funding”). For these people the NHS help by making a small contribution to fees.
    Should your circumstances change, and you can no longer meet the full level of fees, Social Services will be contacted to assess your needs which usually culminates in them paying a finite amount, the outstanding balance being met by your family.

Montana has excelled in the care provided to Mother, both whilst she was mobile and whilst receiving end-of-life care.
The highest level of COVID controls and distancing gave an assurance that there was no likelihood of the introduction of COVID to the home, to affect either Mother, residents or staff.
Highly recommended.

My mother is content at Montana. She is very well looked after and has excellent relations with all the sisters and care staff. Her room is quiet with lovely views of trees, fields and wildlife. The sisters communicate well with Mummy and the family and are always cheerful and caring. I could not recommend
Montana more highly.

I am happy here. The food is excellent, the laundry is hand done and perfect. There is no COVID virus in Montana so far and it is safe. They are spiritually sustained and attended to always. The care manager and the other sisters care about us. Montana is fantastic.

I am very happy in Montana. The carers look after me very well. I have a comfortable room and bed and I am well looked after by the staff and sisters. I am 99 years old and I have been living here for many years and am very happy. Thank you for all your care.

I am a resident here in Montana, in my 12th year, and I am extremely happy. The manager, her sisters, and staff have kept us all safe during this pandemic, by using strict measures and we have not had a single case of Covid. The care manager was awarded the Lord Lieutenant of Suffolk's Special Certificate
of Merit for her work and that of her team during the Covid Pandemic. They all hold the residents in the palm of their hands, and nothing is too much trouble for them. They know our likes and dislikes individually, which is comforting for all the residents. One of the residents will be 100 in June, and another resident will be 100 in January, and the love and care given to them have been a contributory factor in their longevity. The end-of-life care given to residents is exceptional and helps to prolong their lives, much to the delight of their families. Montana Care Home has been awarded an outstanding grade by the Care Quality Commission, and this is thoroughly well deserved.

My mum is very comfortable and happy with Montana and I am so happy! I can visit her and she is relaxed and we can enjoy the visit and each other (secretly for the first time). I'm so happy, she has lived so long to let us get to this, now she has let go of having to be the housewife, mother and wife
and is enjoying time for herself. I hope this can be as long, healthy and happy as possible.

We recently moved my parents to Montana Care Home from the Midlands in order that they could live closer to me and immediately we were made to feel welcome. It's hard to describe just how calming and tranquil the home is. All of the nuns and staff go above and beyond to ensure all care needs are met.
There is such warmth, kindness, compassion and a real feeling of belonging. Everyone is treated with respect and dignity. The home is set in beautiful grounds for residents to use in a lovely quiet village. Mealtimes are an occasion with beautifully laid tables and good quality, nutritious food that residents enjoy whilst they socialise with each other. There is a beautiful chapel, multiple lounges (TV and quiet depending on your mood) and a small library. But all that aside, there is a reason why this home has received outstanding status and that reason is simply the people, the sheer devotion and dedication is second to none. It feels my parents are living with family.

Mum died on 12th April 2021 aged 96 and had been confined to her bed from November 2019. She was always treated with love, kindness and dignity and I cannot fault the care she received.

My mother-in-law seems very happy with her residency at Montana Care home. It's a shame that the current pandemic is having an impact on the home and visiting with all the restrictions. This has particularly had an impact on activities (both communal and family). The staff and management of the care
home are exceptional, it really lives up to its name 'Grace and Compassion'. The atmosphere is welcoming, homely and there is a sense of calm and peace. I do believe that the needs of the residents are truly met physically, emotionally, psychologically and spiritually. Well done to one and all.

Montana Care Home seems like a real community of loving and caring helpers. There is 24-hour interaction with our mum, always friendly and helpful. Meals are plentiful, well-balanced and varied. Mum's physical care is outstanding. The nuns, day staff and the few residents we have met at this time are
very nice and enjoy the community. We just need for covid to be controlled so that all of their normal indoor/outdoor activities can reconvene.
