My mother has been at Hillcroft House for the past 2 years. She has Alzheimers and finds it difficult to communicate her needs/wants and to mobilise. I have found staff at the home to be patient and to treat her in a dignified way, even when she can be quite difficult to communicate with or even a little
aggressive. My mother also has problems with a poor appetite and the staff at the home have taken extra care to ensure her calorific intake and fluid balance are optimised. The room that my mother sleeps in is always clean and tidy, with clean bed cloths.I cannot comment on the entertainment/activities at the home as I'm often at work at these times.

The home has a calm atmosphere and staff react positively to the residents needs and emotions. The food appears to be good as my mother normally eats well. Drinks are always available as are small treats such as cakes and biscuits. Staff appear well dressed and clean as do the residents. Medical conditions
are treated with the correct and prompt action.

My mother spent the last two and a half years of her life at Hillcroft House, having been diagnosed with dementia. We chose Hillcroft House having visited several others and were immediately impressed by the friendly staff and clean environment. My wife, who had visited numerous other dementia care
homes for her father, said it was undoubtedly the best care home she had ever seen. During my mother's stay we visited regularly and always found that she was well cared for. She had a lovely room with an en suite toilet and a view of the garden where she enjoyed watching the squirrels and birds. There were lots of activities available during the week to which she could join in when she felt well enough. The food was home cooked and always excellent. Mum could be difficult at times due to her illness, but the staff always showed great patience and built up a good relationship with her. Towards the end of her life Mum spent most of her time in bed and was provided with a hospital bed with an air mattress to prevent bed sores. During her last illness she returned to the home from hospital and was regularly attended to by nurses from the hospice in addition to the normal staff. My sister and I spent a lot of time at Mum's bedside playing her favourite music and she was able to pass away peacefully with dignity in a comfortable and homely environment. The manager and all the staff were extremely supportive and sympathetic to us during what was a very difficult time. Hillcroft House is an excellent care home and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

The home itself is very appealing. The facilities are very good, nice size rooms. Staff are very helpful and are always about to deal with things. The food is very good. They cater for all and if there's something you would like they do it for you if they can. It is very friendly and really do try to
please all. I found even people who keep it clean are helpful and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The only fault I could find is car park is too small but not a problem.
