The White House provides residential care on a long term or short term basis for up to 31 residents. The White House has lovely landscaped gardens with a number of mature ornamental trees, shrubs and other seasonal planting. The home provides spacious single or double bedrooms, all of which are decorated to a high standard and exceptionally well furnished. They encourage residents to bring items of their own furniture and possessions to complement those already provided and to help make their room an individual retreat.

The White House is located within a quiet residential area of Beccles where its position ensures peace and privacy. The home is a beautiful period house with large windows and interesting architectural details. Its elegant and airy reception rooms are particularly welcoming, and you will find that the interior decoration has been carried to take advantage of the building's individual character. One of the most stunning features of the home is the entrance, which is dominated by beautiful mature trees.

The home also features a garden-based cabin, equipped with two entrance points, protective Perspex screens, intercom system, heating/insulation, and a nurse call button. This facility allows them to provide greater capacity for visits by friends and relatives when they are not able to meet visiting needs within the home. Strict infection control procedures are maintained to keep all residents, staff and visitors safe.

I have found this care home very good. The care my mother-in-law receives is excellent, nothing is too much trouble and I am always kept informed about mum's care. My mother in law has been in The White House for almost four years, she is very happy and content. I have had two bad experiences with previous
care homes and am delighted to have found a good one.

The home has had lots of improvements over the last 6months. Staffing levels seem better.
My mother is treated well by the staff and they are very good at keeping me informed.

On visiting my Aunt last week, I thought there had been a very big improvement in her care. Her room was tidy and clean and she was cleanly dressed. Also, the staff were more communicable.
Earlier in the year, her care was leaving a lot to be desired. the current improvement needs to be maintained.
I would say the care appears to be good now, but it was very poor.

Staffing levels are poor - many times agency personnel. Food boring - same vegetables day in day out (mainly carrots, cauliflower) sometimes hard, or alternatively, 'sloppy'. Same second every day ie. jelly and ice cream. A second choice for main course invariably jacket potato.


While some carers

are excellent, others including some who have been doing this a long while still have no idea.
What happens if there is a fire between say 10 pm-7.30 am when only 2 night carers are on duty.

The new manager has only recently taken over but already we are seeing some changes for the better. My mother has always enjoyed the food (very important to her). The carers are mostly pleasant and attentive, cleaning leaves something to be desired. My mother does not join in activities because she
does not want to, but also the communal room is too hot for her. Too soon in new manager's regime to say much else.
