My mum has been at Whitehaven Care Home for 3 years, and I could not wish for her to be in a better home.
All the staff are friendly, caring individuals at the same time professional and only have my mum's and the other residents best interests at heart. Whilst they must experience challenging situations
I know they care for my mum and do all they can to reassure her, make her comfortable, and look after her.
I would not hesitate in recommending Whitehaven.

My mother has been at Whitehaven Care Home since December 2018.
My father joined her there in January 2019.
Whitehaven is a safe and friendly care home, where the carers go out of their way to deliver focused and personal attention, and where nothing is too much to ask.
Living overseas it was comforting
to know Mum and Dad had 24/7 care, where they were safe and warm, and where they were provided with excellent meals and snacks.
On the occasions when I could visit I was always warmly welcomed with a cup of coffee or tea and a friendly (and informative) chat. I know too that other family members and friends, who visited, were treated in the same way.
Birthdays and holidays were always nicely acknowledged, one couldn't wish for more.
"Hats off" to Whitehaven. Well done. Keep up the good work. And, most of all, Thank you!

Dad was up the care home for a couple of years. He loved being there. He loved the friendly faces that worked there and we know they loved him too. They were very professional. They always contacted us if there were any problems. We were always allowed to see Dad too whenever we wanted.
A great place
to have loved ones and have your own mind at peace knowing all your loved one's needs are catered for.

Excellent care.
Excellent communication.
The home has dealt with the covid19 pandemic situation in a very professional and proactive way.
I am very happy that my mother is being cared for in the best way possible, given her age and health issues.

My mother-in-law has been in the home for just over a year, and now my mum is in the same place and has been for the last couple of months. We have obviously been unable to visit due to the circumstances at the moment, but have been able to phone several
times a day with no problem. They are well looked
after, and the members of staff are great. They do things to keep residents active, and when they have been able to, have had entertainment.

My 95-year-old Mum has been resident in Whitehaven Care Home since September 2017. Choosing a home for her was a traumatic experience for me and my family. Of the homes we visited Whitehaven felt a warm and caring environment. In fact, the first words I heard as I entered were ‘it’s lovely here your
Mum will love it’ spoken by a visitor. The staff are kind and caring and Mums every need is met. Her health has improved no end with regular food and medication and as Mum had wandering tendencies her safety was paramount to us, she is safe, clean and treated with respect. Mum loves the entertainment provided and the quiz’s, she especially loves the pottery classes, something she had always wanted to try. She’s never complained and loves all the staff. She enjoys the nutritious food and the Birthday parties held for all residents. All in all, it’s a great place to live and visit and even us, as non-residents are always made very welcome.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.946)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.946) out of 10 for Whitehaven Care Home is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.3 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.6 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Care Home is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.346 for Whitehaven Care Home is calculated as follows: ( (51 Excellents x 5) + (16 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (5 Poors x 2) + (2 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 81 Ratings = 4.346

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.6 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Whitehaven Care Home is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the registered maximum number of service users in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Care Home registered for a maximum of 50 service users has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 23 registered maximum number of service users is 4.6, which has been reached with 6 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Care Home does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Senior Care Assistant

Hi, my name is Lisa and I joined Whitehaven Care Home in 2018 as a care assistant after hard work and dedication I am now a Senior Care Assistant. I am down to earth with a good sense of humour, I’m a mum of 6 so have had to have one! I have worked in care settings since I was 18, my mother and grandmother also worked in care all their working lives so you could say it runs in the family. I truly believe that each resident should be treated as one of my family and will go the extra mile to ensure this happens

I look forward to welcoming you and your family to Whitehaven Care Home.
